About Bruce and Selina at the end....just throwing around ideas but Bruce was going to kill Chill at the beginning of his journey but that chance was taken from him. Bane may take somebody from Selina and she manages to take her chance. They're not really that different situations because both had intent. I think Bruce could be able to see this and the parts of himself in her. And perhaps want to help her grow and work through things like he did over the course of BB/TDk/TDKR. A part of Batman, be it with Robin or some other person, is passing on knowledge and being a father type figure and become a better person. He doesn't have to be fine with her action, but he could understand.

I maintain that it needs to make you feel at worst uncomfortable, and at best make you want to look away, anything less than that and I don't think the impact will be quite the same. Big problem with most superhero movies is that the hero doesn't really earn the victory.
