I guess that rating was official then. I was hesitant to believe it simply because, as that article stated, it's extremely rare to have a film completed more than 3 months before its release date.

Hopefully that means we'll get posters and images within a few weeks, then of course the trailer.

I don't believe it's done.

I believe the rough cut essentially what the film is and some scrubbing needs to be done.

I remember when there was some slight panic over how they were going to finish the film in post in time for its slot because there's so much footage to have to go through.

I really don't believe they're done but I do believe the rating.

Yes, just a few weeks, and we will have a new trailer to obsess over!!!

In the meantime, I've been re watching TDK and just getting little nuggets of inspiration for street photo shoots.

Bring on the sensual! :D

Really? Nolan was always said to be efficient and always came under schedule.

Whoa, it might already be in the can? Holy crap. :wow:

Rated PG-13 for sensuality huh? AKA Dat Cat Ass.

Yeah – finished cut three month before release is really unusual for a film like this.

if he is finished than i am not surprised. like that article said "the timeline highlights how efficient nolan is as a filmmaker." Unlike Joss Whedon "The Avengers", Ridley Scott "Prometheus" or Marc Webb "The Amazing Spiderman" has done in which they promoted their products throughout editing their films which in return put them behind on finishing their editing of their films so that is why their movies aren't rated and thus far. Where Nolan "The Dark Knight Rises" has halted promotion in december and had his focus on the editing of the film for 4-5 straight months without having to worry about any promotion which is brilliant and probably proves why TDKR has a Rating Months before "Avengers" "Amazing Spiderman" & "Prometheus". Now Nolan & WB get to have fun promoting/Viral/etc.. for 2 Full Months since they finished their part ;) The Fire is Indeed Rising and I can't wait to witness it.

What I said didn't imply he's not.

But looking at the load in front of them at the time it was going to be an uphill battle and it was.

but it worked out for them for sure.

what I'm trying to stress is there is A LOT in this film from what has been said and for them to be finished now is a bit unbelievable

The film wouldn't have been screened for the rating board if it wasn't finished.

The only thing I can see that they'll polish is the vfx but the movie itself is complete. If they were to change scenes around they'd need to submit it to the MPAA for review again and I doubt they're going to do that seeing as they went through the effort of getting the rating this early.

The working film would have to be nearly 100% identical to the finished cut to warrant a final rating. Maybe the only thing left to add would be some Zimmer score and polish some CGI?

They're not that nice to us. :csad:

Even for Christopher Nolan, 3 months early is pushing it.

Prometheus hasn't been rated yet because Fox hasn't decided which cut to go with.

We're not going to get a rating for that film until Fox has screened both versions for test audiences to see which one they react more strongly to.

If the film is rated that means the MPAA has seen the film. They must know the ending! Ahhh!

Yeah, yeah, this is what I mean. The rough cut that was talked about is probably rough only in the idea that it needs to have SFX added.

Yes and probably some editing on a few scenes here and there as there was apparently a lot of them. I'm just saying I wouldn't expect Nolan to be wiping his hands and saying I'm done in the next month.

Not from everything we've heard during production. Close to, maybe but there's a lot of CGI in this film and there's a lot of action so the editing is going to take time.

Hail Nolan the deity!!!!

Well that's their problem and situation they have to deal with thats keeping them getting from A to B. :woot:

I struggle to see how all the visual effects would be finished, unless the use of practical effects is so great that there isn't much CGI to do.

My point is that Prometheus not having a rating at this point in time has nothing to do with the actual film itself.

yes it does because the studio and ridley are stuck between 2 different cuts of the film and have thus far not set their mind on one cut. thats keeping them from getting an MPAA Rating

Thank you, I totally forgot about that.

Actually, I feel the opposite and took something else from that scene. One of the things I really liked about this chase scene was the absence of music. This absence of music made it feel more tense in my eyes. The music that started when the Batpod bursts out, when the SWAT helicopter appears, etc. informs me that a new change has developed during the operation e.g. Batman getting a new toy and the SWAT getting some backup. During the really tense moments of the chase, I think the absence of music was intentional. That's how I saw this.

Oh, I agree with you. I would have preferred no music at all, also. Its just that I find that small snippet of music being included as random. Its like they were servicing something by having it in there. Should have stuck with what they were going for in the rest of the scene and not included that random bit of music. I guess, they needed something to add to the epicness of the Batpod bursting out of the tumbler but couldn't think of a good way to stop the music so they just clipped it off with the breaking sound effect when the Batpod tore the mirror off. It just felt sloppy right there.

Two cuts of the film exist - a R cut and a PG-13 cut. Whichever one has a stronger reaction from test audiences, Fox will submit that one to the MPAA and receive the official rating. But how exactly would they do that unless both cuts were already finished (or close to it)?

Prometheus is just under two months away. I promise you the film itself is mostly finished. It's really just a matter of deciding which cut of the film will make more money.
