Honestly, I'd think this film could be a lesser one than BB and it wouldn't be a 'failure'. Wouldn't have lived up to expectations, mind... but that's still a fairly decent standard.

Yes, it means that generally speaking people would judge it this way based on how much it brings in - this comparison is often done with movies, even if it is completely ridiculous with examples of genuinely good films.

I'm hoping for less daytime scenes in TDKR. TDK was a bit too bright for me with all the clean, day time shots... I think the impact the Joker has had on Gotham could justify darker scenary for TDKR, until the end of the movie of course when things are restored in Batman's favour.

It's what I'm thinking, if they have that prison break at the college, and the motorcycle chase, and so forth I have a feeling we will have a lot of external stuff since that is what Pittsburgh is being used for, so I kinda think maybe we will get something of Catwoman. Maybe with the trailer they would release a pic, probably not but it would be nice.

I really hope the film's color scheme matches the poster's. Go to IMDb's TDKR page, and look at the thumbnails of the poster and the picture of Bane. The color is just great.

Looking at those pictures, it seems to me that ever since The Fighter, Christian Bale's seemed a lot more cheerful. It's a bit jarring.

In all seriousness though, I could picture Bane offing a major character in the beginning. In that same scene, he could injure Gordon. I just hope he's not bedridden for most of the film.

Morgan Freeman is God, Bruce Wayne is Jesus, Thomas Wayne is Joseph, and Joel Schumacher is the Devil. That is all.

Batman does a whole lot of "falling" in these movies, and I think that is interesting considering one of Nolan's favorite Batman stories was "the man who falls", wherein we were retold the origins of Batman as he patrolled Gotham, the final conclusion being a remembrance of Thomas and Martha Wayne falling, as Batman drops down toward more prey. He's been falling ever since that day, and hasn't stopped, the story concluded.


I think this is very interesting. Let's look at all that in the context of the films. After Batman tackles Two-Face, Dent is killed by the fall. Regardless of the circumstances, the Joker has already won, here. He killed Harvey Dent, the White Knight. Batman clings to [metaphorical?] edge, and manages to save the boy. But he can't pull himself back up. Can't stop himself from falling.

And so he falls.

It seems like this is more than a coincidence, when you look at what little we know of TDKR. Bane is probably going to break Batman's back, or otherwise horribly incapacitate him. He'll BEAT the Batman. It will be the ultimate fall. If the person climbing out of the cave is Batman, possibly a gravely injured Batman, this all makes sense. He's climbing toward a bright sky, but he has so far to go and every movement is belabored agony.

And of course, you have the teaser poster. The POV of a supine person, lying battered in the street and looking up at a decaying Gotham. Just another fall.

The Dark Knight Rises is about just that. Batman has to rise, and it's from various falls, both emotional and physical. What other ways does this theme apply to the series? How else might it apply to TDKR?

Another thing I just considered is that it'd fit into the "full circle" thing they're talking about from behind the scenes. Batman's genesis arguably starts with the fall into the Batcave. Thomas says the line I've quoted in the OP.

Now, some 25 years later, Bruce has to pick himself back up again. And his father isn't there to help him. Maybe Batman will grab onto that for inspiration to climb out of the well, but either way he faces the climb alone.

Very interesting indeed, I can definitely see that theme throughout.

One thing that may not fit in the way they are explaining is the part mentioned with Batman climbing out of the cave, if they are referring to the man climbing out of the well-like structure in the teaser - many seem to think this is Bane. Although that still pushes the idea of the fall and the climb (rise).

Oh, man, imagine Batman screaming while Bane is heading towards him and reaching for his Bat-Pepper Spray.

a loud high pitch scream to, like a little girl. you hear the scream and wont even guess its coming from a grown ass man lmfao! .

but honestly people are over reacting about batman backing up looking scared. yall realy sat there and acted like he had the spook face on, backing up like hes being stalked by jason vorhees.

batman did not look scared AT ALL! he looked tired and worn out like he was fighting. but the man didnt have one ounce of fear in his body he infact was standing his ground with his fist balled but he looked lowkey beat, that is all.

the fan boys realy overreacted with that scene.
