The Dark Knight Rises The TDKR General Discussion Thread - - - - - - Part 138

The mass melees in Gangs of New York blow this movie away, unfortunately. I get that it's PG-13, but it should have been better.

Whew, wrong comparison to make. Gangs of New York was Rated-R, and what made the war scenes memorable was the gore and brutality that went into them.

I can't wait for the blu ray to come out so we can point out all the extras who were laughable during the fight. I honestly saw one cop that was trying to punch out the mercenary and failed to even touch his face. :hehe:

Now you're talking about the entire finale when the initial discussion was about the Bane/Batman fight itself.

We get it. You hated many parts of the movie and thought it was crap. But while you dislike people explaining why something wasn't as bad as you make it out to be, maybe others grow tired of seeing the same, repetitive complaints?

And just because someone enjoyed the movie doesn't mean they're settling or were simply "ok" with it. Maybe they have many valid reasons to enjoy the film and don't see the negatives you do.

You seem to be bothered that someone dares to disagree with your complaints. The attitude of this forum has shifted since release, and it's less likely people post things they liked vs. disliked. Before the movie came out a negative review was grounds for revolt. Now it's sacrosanct.

I fail to see where anything I've said is out of line.

I think you are confusing me with someone else... I don't have very many complaints about the film, nor have I been repetitive about it. Other than little jokes I say, I don't know where you are getting all this.

Enjoy your day.

Jett's last post is hysterical. Ben Affleck has been his #1 choice to reboot Batman of all the directors on earth? Is his brain ok?

I bet it wasn't even in his radar but Ben Affleck is a great director.

The fact that he even tries to pretend that he could make the connection at all is pathetic.

You didn't see that scene where all the gunless cops blocked all the bullets with their magic blue suits and over took the armed gunmen? stealing their guns and holding them down?

:hehe:

Well, to be fair, clips eventually do run out of bullets, and with an army of cops rushing towards them, I doubt they had time to reload. Once the cops closed the gap, it transitioned to a close-quarter combat fight.

To be fair, Ben would make an amazing reboot director. Something smaller scale and more intimate, perhaps.

He'd make a better reboot director than a Batman director, imo. Altho he'd be great in both.

Apparently WB is looking at Affleck to direct Justice League. If he wasn't up for MOS I doubt he would be up for JL.

Well, to be fair, that's how a lot of people act around here. Back when we had a Catwoman casting thread, I don't think I ever saw Hathaway mentioned more than twice, and she was far from being a fan favorite, and then when she was announced, a ton of people were like "I knew it, she was my #1 pick all this time. I was a hardcore fan since DWP".

Right....

You've diverted the topic a few times and avoided responding to my points.

Even after I pointed out that the forum in general exhibits the complaints, not just you.

At this point the line between sarcasm and complaining is blurred. Maybe that's a fault of mine not reading the forum enough and knowing each poster better. So, if I offended you or misinterpreted your comments I apologize. But I mostly see rampant nitpicking that often stands out to me as a little silly.

If we are going to get detailed... then banes men had bullets, then unloaded guns...which are a pretty strong weapons to swing... so I guess the cops somehow overpowered all those people, stole their guns...then held the up (with empty) clips...or did they steal the clips too? :lmao:

this is one of those let it go convos considering i was joking around.

Dude, all I was saying was the build up to the finale (i say that meaning final fight) between Bane/Bats didn't pay off. Bane whips his ass the first fight... tortures him the rest of the movie... and all it shows is a few punches. I'm sorry, I expected more.

I'll leave it at that.

But this is where I disagree and go back to my original comment, that Batman knew he couldn't beat Bane blow for blow. He had to get the upper hand early and avoid letting Bane beat him down.

I think Batman was beyond wanting to beat the s**t out of Bane to get revenge out of what Bane had done to him. Batman wanted to incapacitate Bane as quickly as possible because there were bigger fish to fry - a nuclear bomb. And by exploiting Bane's weakness and having him cower in pain on the ground, I'd say Batman did exert a similar shaming/defeat/etc. onto Bane (before Talia stepped in).

Now if you feel that the fight could have conveyed this better, I respect that. I personally found the build up and result to be satisfying.

I know, I know. :hehe:

But as I remember it, Rags did say that Bane and the Mercs were outnumbered by the cops, so it's not exactly hard to believe that they were overpowered once in close range.

With the new clips, that I can't say.

Every one of your posts I see is always argumentative and confrontational. Why you mad, guy? :funny:

well thats where the food issue comes in... i mean its the dead of winter... probably not getting grade A food... no hygiene. realistically, there would be sickness, starvation, and its not like they are down there working out in the gym.

lol were there even any female cops??? and with all those people, I'm sure they could have dug themselves out or found a sewer lid somewhere in that huge circle of rubble
