On BBC3 on Sunday in the UK they have a documentary on the Colorado shootings titled "The Batman Shootings". Is there nothing else to call it?

I'm sure there is but cheap sensationalism that uses shock value is far more lucrative.

I'm guessing that after the events in TDK, Ramirez got the hell out of Gotham and transferred somewhere else.

As for the Gordons, I didn't mind not seeing them. It made sense for me that after the incident with Harvey, Barbara no longer felt safe around James or with the kids. Plus, James faked his own death without telling her.

That is true.

You know, a part of me has always wondered on, IF Gotham was so bad, I mean as bad as the films and comics have made it out to be at times, why doesn’t its citizens (the ones that want a normal and peaceful life) just move away from the city altogether? I mean, if a place is so bad, unless you’re super broke, why not just move away from the place instead of just staying there and living on the edge every day?

And it sucks on what became of Gordon’s family life in the series. Too bad he was the only one who didn’t get a happy ending regarding his personal life in the series.

Gordon got so little redemption in TDKR such a sad sad thing for a great character. The citizens probably think poorly of him and he is now on his own. Him seeing the rebuilt Batsignal is the best thing that happened to him all film.

For example of real life situation: See Detroit. The city is a ghost town.

I wonder if they ever found out that he was the one who stopped the bomb from being detonated via trigger?

Even then they only have his word :D and I doubt they trust what he'd say after the Dent fiasco. Blake and Fox wouldn't know - Foley, Bane, Talia is dead - Bruce and Selina have gone off :funny: Gordon just couldn't get a break in TDKR

I imagine that after the events of TDKR, with Batman getting a memorial, the real truth about why Gordon covered up Harvey's murders was accepted and understood by the public. Maybe not completely forgiven, but understood. After all, the fact that he's still commissioner tells us that he must have had some redemption in the public eye.

Yeah, and he had an integral hand in rounding up what was left of the police and helping to stop the bomb/Bane. But it does appear that he is left as the one who suffers the most from the cover up. Which actually makes a lot of sense when you think about how much Two-Face wanted to punish him. He threatens his family and they end up leaving him anyway. He really does suffer, albeit in a quiet, subtle way.

If anything, Gordon did get a son-like figure in Blake since those two seemed to have bonded really well in the film.

Not sure if it's just me, but does anyone else here feel that Gordon's Family and Detective Ramirez SHOULD have been present in this film in some way, if not, even a cameo?

Gordon's wife at least should have been. The most obvious place she could have fit in the film was at Gordon's bedside in the hospital. That element was just horribly handled.

That's true. I initially looked at Blake as a figurative son to Bruce but that analogy actually works better with Gordon.

I'm just going to pretend that Gordon's family is waiting for him at his apartment once they start letting people inside Gotham again. :D

That could have worked nicely. But then she would have to use the restroom or something during the time Bruce visits him. Could have been real nice too, Gordon's wife comes back in the room right after Bruce exits and the curtains in the room could be billowing from the wind. Gordon would then pretend to be asleep.

Crossover FTW! :awesome:

Or she could have been there during the day, you know, during the scenes that took place in the hospital that Bruce wasn't in.

..That never occurred to me. You're right, that was horribly handled.

Anybody that said Avengers has "nothing of substance" just wasn't paying attention. There was plenty to it, it just didn't try to hit you over the head with its themes.

This place is full of bold people and bold statements.

I'll be the first one to tell you that there was nothing special about Avengers. The first Iron Man was a better film and had more to offer in terms of substance... and I've seen Avengers four times. :cwink:

This is true. This happened to me a few days ago...

During a meeting today we were discussing principles that justify war. A strange topic to begin with, but one statement was practically weird…

Speaker: "You have such things as bombings, committing acts of terrorism and people who go to Batman movies."

Why would you phrase it like? Why would you include Batman? Why not just say people who shoot up movie theaters? It can be taken many ways, but I think he was referring to the shooting in Colorado. However, it was implied that by going to a movie about Batman you are doing something wrong. The person who was speaking is older and I can tell you from experience that he is quite pushy and has a very narrow minded view of right and wrong. I also know that this person has no idea about what Batman stands for.

This next part I found very ironic. He continued by talking about people who take up righteous causes which lead to war. Sound familiar? If you’re a member of this group it should. I never got a chance to ask this guy what he meant by that part if his comment, but I really wish I would have. I think it’s pretty sad that what happened in Colorado gives people negative ideas about a character who stands for hope and justice.

If not that , maybe a scene with Gordon calling his wife attempting to reach out, Just a hint that Gordon could get his family back in the future .

Now that I think about it..

..Did Catwoman serve any purpose in this movie?

almost every character aside from bruce, bane and blake really served no purpose imo

Catwoman absolutely served a purpose. In a nutshell, she is the personification of Bruce getting his faith rewarded for believing in the best of Gotham.

Got Bruce back into living and at the end they both have a fresh start.
