I don't see the big deal in Batman showing up post-credits. If he comes out of nowhere chucking batarangs at Zod, yeah, that's dumb. But if there's a scene at the end, whatever, cool.

On Tuesday, rumors that Gordon-Levitt would step into the shoes of Batman in the upcoming Justice League movie picked up steam thanks to reports that Gordon-Levitt would establish his version of the character first in a cameo in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. But Hollywood.com checked in with Gordon-Levitt's reps who have refuted the rumor entirely. For now, The Dark Knight Rises actor's continued involvement in the DC Movie Universe remains a fan dream.

Just because his reps refute the rumor, doesnt mean anything. It would be a big secret and we wont know anything until an official statement is released by WB about Justice League. Like any other Nolan bat movie or Man Of Steel.

The MOS trilogy can still be standalone though.

Yeah exactly. Individul movies can be treated separately. JL can be its own continuity. I think IM2 sucked a bit because they tried fitting in the Marvel Universe inside of the story they were trying to tell. Inserting continuity can be a bit of a bad thing.

In regards to the rumour, thats exactly what a rep would say. I dont think WB would go without a BW batman though, so Im guessing we may get a batman and nightwing thing going on.

I tend think that the rumor is a trial balloon of an idea that may be getting kicked around WB at the moment. I doubt anything is set in stone.

I'll be honest and say I don't really fancy the idea.

WB seems at a loss right now in terms of how to bring the Justice League to life.

While I'm crossing my fingers that it's just a rumor (or probably just some idea being tossed around), the denial from his rep doesn't really mean anything. That's what reps do.

They attempted one that fell apart because of budget and writer's strike and started again with a new writer a year before Avengers even came out. Yeah, they're more confident because of Avengers, but they were going to make a Justice League movie regardless. And I'm not sure how someone can think it is or isn't well thought out since pretty much all we know is that Will Beall is writing and Henry Cavill and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are probably starring.

Did you follow the JL development history? It was in the works prior to Marvel Studios enacting their Phase One plan (back in 2007), then killed when they tried to rush script development before the WGA strike (and unfavorable reaction to the baby-faced cast). They revived it a few months after The Avengers started shooting, with a new scribe.

It's not a rush job.

Yeah, WB has wanted to do a JL film for a long time, but now after Avengers it will only be seen as "Hey we can do it too!". And to some extend that's true because they definitely wouldn't be placing such a high priority on it now if not for Avengers.

I'd still be shocked if it makes it out for 2015. Not only is there Avengers 2 to compete with, but now there's the juggernaut that is Star Wars Episode VII. A Justice League film with no established universe in place pretty much defaults to third place in terms of GA interest.

I think pretty much the only thing that could possibly make JL a big deal was if Bale came back to team with Cavill, and that's never going to happen. And if MOS turns out as great as we're hoping and ends up being a big hit, it'd be pretty lousy to hijack that franchise just to give JL a face.

I could see JGL as a rebooted Bruce Wayne, and I actually kind of like the way it would work. TDKR becomes a kind of passing on the mantle in the real world while the story is truly being retold in fiction. JGL seems like he might have the actual charisma to carry a role like it, and he definitely has the emotional range for the character's more vulnerable moments.

And anyone likely to not figure it's a reboot will be too stupid to notice any big changes in the characterization.

It's better than rushing a movie into development. While that sometimes produces good movies (like X-Men: First Class), it's just contingent on the producers and directors working on the product that makes it out to theaters.

Exactly. I didn't assert that long development means "not well thought out." I only asserted that long development isn't indicative of quality.

Besides, only the current iteration of development / scripting really counts. If they aren't using that previous Justice League script / storyline, then basically development started over.
