If so, I'm pretty sure you are hearing it wrong.

Yeah that scene. I hear him say Rise, but when it switches to Bruce walking to take the rope, I hear him say Up as well.

marion cotillard "dying" is one of the worst death scenes ever. i don't even know how that gets past everyone...my god. i swear, just a few changes and the omission of the talia angle would have helped this film immensely.

i still think this is my favorite of the three, though.

I honestly think they went for a performance that realistically depicted her having her just broken her back in the crash, and barely managing to fight threw her last words.


Theatrically, it did not work very well....



Seriously though, they had to have tried more than one way of dying... right? It honestly doesn't ruin the scene for me because they build up the tension so well, but I certainly wouldn't have been against a different kind of death.

that is a thought that never crossed my mind. i'm pretty sure many non-actors/amateur actors could "die" more convincingly.

Unless Cotillard only had one take with every one of her scenes, then you'd think there would've been more takes of Talia's death...perhaps that's the death scene Nolan liked best, lol.

hahah, certainly not like that. the not so subtle and unnatural slumping of head really didn't help.

and why is it that on film, 99% of of the time when the dying person is speaking, they always are able to get their last words out RIGHT before they die?

Cause it would be incredibly inconvenient if they died mid-sentence?

It wasn't as bad as Trinity's death in Matrix Revolutions. Homegirl talked for like, 3 minutes straight while being impaled through the lungs.

Talia's death doesn't bug me as much as Bruce's jumping cane during the meeting with Fox. It's just kinda there.

I admit that Talias death scene was one of the worst moments from the whole trilogy for me, such an amazing actress and such a terrible take.

I didn't really mind Talia at all sans the death scene. I mean, there's more that could've been done with her, but she didn't feel tacked on for the fanboys. I did like Bane's though; Batman defeats him and Catwoman kills him.

Sorta makes sense if Nolan wanted to have Talia become paralyzed, as only her neck up was moving, but still...a better take could have happened. It's not so much the death scene but the weird "jolt" her head makes.

Correction: Batman defeats Bane, Bane tries to pull a cheap move and just shoot Batman's head off, Catwoman shoots and kills Bane instead.

I thought they were thinking, "Great, NOW what we gonna do about this bomb?"

I'm really convinced that her death followed by that shot is Nolan just trolling with us.

I thought her speech at the end was solid. Her final movement is a little silly but when i think about the bulk of 'classic movies' most deaths were like this. Maybe Nolan was going for that? I have no idea. It's possible. It really has that exaggerated eye closing, head tilting movement of dying. It worked decades ago for every movie, but not in the modern era.

I want somebody to ask Nolan about that take. Not Marion cuz it could embarass her, she may not have even liked what she saw at the premier. But Nolan should be asked about it.
