Crane cared about money at first, with the whole "ransom city" stuff. But then in TDK, he was still making money while lacing those drugs with his fear toxin, just for the kicks apparently. Also, according to himself he was experimenting with the toxin with his patients before the main events on Begins.

Yes, and does any of this imply he cared about anyone? No, he was just a sicko out for profit.

Sorry but you said "anyone or anything". I was just clarifying.

Sorry I should have clarified. By anything I meant anything of moral substance. The Joker wanted to break Gotham's minds and spirit and pit them into chaos but that's not something I'd call noble or moral. The LOS villains had a warped sense of justice, Dent wanted what was "fair" by punishing those who wronged him. They were evil acts but there was a warped sense of morality behind them.

The Joker only wanted anarchy and chaos. Crane just wanted money. In that regard Crane was the most shallow villain of the trilogy. But that was mainly because he was so under developed.

Oh ok then. Yes, in that regard Crane was the less developed of the bunch, by far.

Am I the only person who was kind of disappointed that there wasn't any sort of fight between Batman and Catwoman?

Yeah I really wanted a chase across the rooftops... but I guess thats too frivolous for Nolan.

To be fair, the odds would have been stacked very much against Nolan's Catwoman. Batman has his grappling gun AND has the ability to glide long distances. Catwoman has...nothing. Besides the ability to fit into tight spaces, I guess? :funny: Wouldn't really be much of a chase...

More BatCat in TDKR would've been great in general regardless of what they're doing. :D But yeah... A rooftop chase scene is at the top of my wish list.

Crane did want money, but he also wanted power. They made it a point in BB to show how small he physically was compared to everyone else. This was especially apparent when Katie Holmes (who's not exactly an Amazon despite being taller than Tom Cruise) confronted him at the courthouse.

He uses his position as head of Arkham, and later with the fear toxin, to throw his weight around, because he couldn't do it with brawn. Him being tazed and running away screaming at the end of BB simply showed us who he truly was - a weak man grasping at anything to gain respect.

In TDK, he does this too - he dares the Chechen to find any other dealers to buy from. He knows they can't, and by lacing the drug with fear toxin, he's just throwing that in their face.

So him being the kangaroo court judge in TDKR gives him the power he so craved...but it's not quite legitimate, which makes it all the more amusing.

Batman will never have a good rooftop chase until they get rid of that heavy rubber suit.

This. And I don't think there can be a rooftop chase between Bats and Selina unless she has a bullwhip. As someone else stated, Bats has can glide and has a grapple gun. But if only Catwoman had a bullwhip...

Yeah so did John Daggett. "You understand only money and the power you think it buys".

ZzzzzzzzzZ.

Didn't make his motive any more interesting than Crane's.

That's kinda odd considering the IM 3 trailer has more hits than any of them.

I misread. Its people choice .

Was it released in apple first the TDKR ? I searched a few new trailers on youtube and they have way more views than trailers from movies released this year. The difference is enormous. Maybe some bot hits by the studios :woot:

Crane enjoyed the mind's power over the body. He had a perverse delight in exploiting people's fears, but it seemed to stem more from a place of ego rather than doing it for some kind of higher ideal.

I see him as the guy who sort of bridged the gap between the mob and a freak like The Joker. He was somewhere in between. He didn't really seek to bring down society, but he was happy to go along for the ride and get his kicks when the going got tough in Gotham.

Daggett was a pawn though. His infrastructure set up the bombs around Gotham, and as we see, once they were done with him, he was exposed of.

Crane as stated above, was in it for the thrill of money & controlling people.

Suspect? Bane freaking did it live in a football stadium in front of hundreds of people.

And he used neither one of these in TDKR.

Daggett was a run-of-the-mill sleaze-ball. Crane was legitimately creepy who made people insane for the hell of it.

That and Cillian was easier on the eyes. :hehe:

I think he used the grapple gun in the chase scene grabbing the hostage from the motorbike. Also, why you would glide when you have a sweet flying vehicle like the Bat?

Cillian's performance did a lot to sell the character in spite of his generic motivation.
