So definitely not involved with Justice League-

''Three movies. Nine years. A total of $2.45 billion at the global box office. But for all that success with superheroes -- and once he’s done producing Warners’ Man of Steel, the Superman reboot that’s being directed by Watchmen’s Zack Snyder and will hit screens in June 2013 -- Nolan is ready to hang up his cape. The prospect of shepherding Warners’ promised Justice League film holds no allure.
“I want to direct another movie before too long, probably ’cause I get bored very easily,” Nolan says. “But I’ll take my time in figuring out what it is. I know I’m done with Batman.”

Fine by me. I'm really curious to see what he'll be up to next.

This gives such great reasoning with the detail/lack-of of Gotham City's voice and soul through the trilogy with TDK having the most of it. TDKR's format changed into just a disaster flick where Nolan had to take liberties and excuse certain ideals such as Gotham's voice.

Yeah, that's very interesting. I really hope Nolan does some form of commentary for the much anticipated ultimate collector's edition of the trilogy. I just love hearing him talk about movies/Batman.

I love the hell out of all of his movies but hopefully, he goes small scale again and back to his roots ala Following and Memento. Before he got Batman in 2003 he was considered to be one of the finest young directors in film but this... big budget, big box office phase has caused cinephiles to turn on him.

F em'. They can drink there "haterade" all day if they wish to.

But I wouldn't mind a smaller scale film like Memento or Prestige either. But in all honesty, I don't care what he chooses to do. I'm going to watch it anyway.

I still think The Prestige is Nolan's best work to date so if his next project comes close to that then I'll be happy.

I'm inclined to agree. And it has Bale in it, so that makes it even better for me. :yay:

It's definitely one of my favorite films in general, such a smart movie.

Don't know if anybody mentioned something like this but I was thinking it would be have been cool to take out Miranda/Tate all together. Bane's plan is to avenge his mentor Ras Al Ghul and fulfill his destiny. Batman defeats Bane like in the movie but the twist is Batman still gets stabbed and turns to see Ras scarred from the explosion. He explains how the explosion badly injured him but didn't kill him. One of the members of the league (Bane) saved him from the fire but lungs were badly damaged from the smoke (or something along those lines). Ras decided to take Bane under his wing to become the heir to the League and accept what Bruce rejected.

Just spitballing but I think that would have been a way better twist to the movie.

This. It's actually a toss-up between Prestige and TDK for me.

Kind of interesting how The Prestige is Nolan's lowest rated flick on RT, yet seems to be a consistent favorite amongst a lot his fans.

Just goes to show that at the end of the day, screw critics- we make up our own minds when it comes to the movies we love.

Ehh, no.

Personally, my rankings of Nolan films go:
TDKR=TDK
Memento
The Prestige
BB
Inception
Following
Insomnia

When it comes to favourites. But, I would say his best (unbiased) would be The Prestige or Memento.

I actually would have been okay with Ra's surviving the train crash. But really, I think just taking out Miranda/Talia in general would have been better (since you could easily have Catwoman fufill her same function. Selina Kyle is a wealthy industrialist, who also happens to be working for the league. She tricks Bruce, yet also falls in love with him, so the only difference being she decides to help him in the end) and just keep the rest of the story the same. Except there'd be no twist that "Bane isn't really Ra's child!" just keep Bane Ra's kid. I would have been fine with it.

Or, I would have cut catwoman, and made Taila a more complex character, like her comic counterpart. One of them needed to go so the other could get more development.

Na, I like what they did in the film better. Sorry. :) lol

I agree with all that you said. Talia wasn't needed and the way the character is written in the movie I don't buy her being evil and a mastermind behind taking over Gotham. If they kept it secret and Ras appeared and stabbed Bruce it would have been far more effective in my opinion. I also think it would have been cool if Ras was in the position of the truck driver and got killed by Batman in the end. Would have brought things full circle for me.

I wasn't crazy about Looper. It stared out pretty strong, but once they introduced the awful kid....It went a little downhill for me. Still a good film, just not what I was expecting, at all.

That's exactly what I thought about it, too. All the time travel stuff was great, but once the Dragon Ball Z kid was around, it took a dive. I really hated the ending, too....mainly because of the kid.

The kid in looper was incredible to me. Some of the best child acting, a left turn in the story I never saw coming that resounded beautifully thematically. That film was definitely better than skyfall.

Looper was also not at all what I was expecting it to be, but I thought it was really good. I was surprised at how dark and brutal it was.

I saw Rises all the way through for the first time since it was in theaters the other day and it reaffirmed my admiration for the film. It's a great movie, and I do think it belongs with the year's best. I enjoyed the heck out of it; even the nitpicks I have of it didn't really take me out of the story.

Same for me as well with Looper. The kid wasn't even seen in the trailer I don't think, I dunno I was slightly disappointed with it and Bruce Willis was no where near in it as much as I though he would. I dunno if I am disappointed or if it just wasn't what I was expecting.

Anyway TDKR seems to be appearing in many top 10 lists. As an avid reader of Empire Magazine I was shocked by their top 10 it really is the biggest case of following the crowd I've seen -

10. Rust and Bone
9. Headhunters
8. The Raid
7. Moonrise Kingdom
6. Sightseers
5. Beasts of the Southern Wild
4. Skyfall
3. The Dark Knight Rises
2. Argo
1. Avengers Assemble

They rated Avengers 4/5 in their review I know that opinions may have changed but come on if that isn't a case for voting for what is popular... (and I'm someone who adored Avengers).

Total Film's -

10. Skyfall
9. Looper
8. Avengers Assemble
7. Argo
6. The Dark Knight Rises
5. Shame
4. The Raid
3. The Cabin In The Woods
2. The Imposter
1. The Master

Big English critic Mark Kermode also put TDKR into his top 10 list at number 5 I believe, was also the only comic book film and mega blockbuster to appear as well if memory recalls.

TDKR seems to always appear in either top 10 or worst 10 :D it really did divide opinion.
