Did you read the entire post? He points out that Joker does what Dent and Batman and Gordon set out to do - he got rid of the mob factions. Gambol, the Chechen, and Maroni. All dead because of him. Or in the case of Maroni, indirectly because of him. :oldrazz: I think that's what he means about Joker being "heroic" in the context of the movie.
That is, I think, one of the intentional ironies of the story. But calling him a hero is still absurd because he was eliminating the mob to make way for himself, something worse. It wasn't though he was on a Punisher-esque crusade of lethal justice, it was really only to screw with everyone and gain power. And I think if Joker hadn't entered the picture the trifecta would have been successful, but of course, things can't be that easy.

And let's face it, Joker does kind of have a point about society requiring laws so the world doesn't go down burning. I think Batman believes that too - that's why he's in the picture in the first place. He doesn't think the laws are doing enough to protect society. But Batman believes that people are, on the whole, innately good. They just need a push toward goodness, which is squashed by fear and corruption. Whereas Joker believes that people are innately selfish, and just need a push to forego law and morality altogether.
Yes, they are on the same curve but at opposite ends. Both on the outside of society looking in. The Joker certainly does have a point, as Ra's and Bane did, but again, he's still a bad person. He's still killing people. Whatever point he's making becomes moot for me when his disregard for human life comes into play.

It's not like I don't get the appeal; I do. It's the voice in your head that tells you to rampage when you're in a traffic jam or rebel against society however you can when you see its fallacies. The difference is that I see those as negative and do not idolize someone who succumbs to them.

His wallpapers were my background for the longest time (particularly this, the group RISE poster, Bruce escaping the Pit and the flaming Batsymbol with Gordon and Batman on the frozen river).

Now it's Little League though.

I wish they would release the extension of the score like they did with The Dark Knight. There are a lot of tracks missing on the soundtrack.

Bale talking to a 9 year old kid with cancer on the phone about Batman:

Zach was thrilled this morning to receive a very special phone call from Christian Bale! Our good friend Brian Levy arranged this and Zach LOVED it. Though the sound quality is not very good, we did capture the moment on video.

Mr. Bale was very nice and really made it a special call. They compared notes on playing Batman, and talked about family and friends. It was a very nice thing for Christian to do, and he did it very well! Zach says thank you very much to Christian AND Brian!

The kid said his brother likes Robin and Bale laughed and said they could be Batman and Robin. :hehe: I love the part about Catwoman and when he said the "anyone can be Batman" speech. :hrt:

There's so much natural beauty in that video yet at the same time so much unfairness.

Christian Bale along with this little boy are eternal. I can tell that Christian Bale is both happy and frustrated the sane time. Happy that he can speak with this little gentlemen and sad that he can't completely heal this boy.

Bale is soul that wishes he can cure and help every child in need and yet at the same times knows the harsh realities of the world.

This is sadness and beauty alining.

Bale is such a ****ing class act. He may be "eccentric" at times, but man...Bale is just an incredible guy and more than just some actor.

And his "Anybody can be Batman" speech to Zach was just awesome.

This is what makes me want to have a Bale marathon now and watch all of the films I have that feature him, lol.

You can tell how much he cares for the trilogy more than just an actor liking his roles if he were to bring up the main message of Nolan's trilogy into that conversation too. Pleased to see Bale and Nolan have zero regrets with all three films. Makes me love TDKR even more because of that.
