I always felt there were some nice harmonic similarities between the TAS theme and "A Dark Knight" (the theme that plays at the end of TDK and TDKR), and always wondered if Zimmer was at all influenced by his time on MOTP there, even if subconsciously.

That TAS theme is really great though. It honestly is the Batman theme of my childhood, probably more so than Elfman's even. Hearing it always brings me back to being a kid, tuning into Fox after school.

As much as I love the second fight between Bane and Batman, it's interesting to consider what it might have been like with a bit of extra time. Imagining them separated by a Tumbler, looking at each other as it passes, with the booming music in the background, then Batman going after Bane would have been so epic.

One thing that would have been cool is to have heard the 'heroic' theme from TDK. The one that starts at 2:10 in Like a Dog Chasing Cars. The music could have transitioned from Bane's darker themes to this one as the momentum of the fight shifted in Batman's favor (after busting the Bane's mask).

I like to imagine a moment where Batman thrashes Bane's mask, Bane goes berserk, then Batman starts to use the environment and pillars to confuse and disorient Bane. Disappearing and reappearing in quick cuts. And the above music plays in the background as Batman gains the edge and takes over the fight. But again I'm 100% happy with what we saw.

I'm so pumped out that. My girlfriend is an Occupational Therapist and works with a lot of children with autism. I can totally play that card to get her to go with me :woot:

I remember reading that in the shooting script and had to re-read it several times. I'm thinking, "holy sh%t. That would have been amazing". Do you think any of that was even filmed?

Edited out everything else besides the battle between Bane and Batman in the script:

EXT. DOWNTOWN STREET - CONTINUOUS

Bane strides through the battle, taking out Cops left and right. A space clears - he is face to face with the Batman...

Bane: You came back. To die with your city.

Batman: No. I came back to stop you.

Bane leaps at Batman, smashing powerful blows into his head. Batman ducks, weaves and smashes his fists into Bane’s side. Someone is watching from the window of City Hall - Miranda.

Batman and Bane fight, Batman pushing Bane back - a Tumbler roars between them, separating them. Batman chases after.

INT. LOBBY, CITY HALL - CONTINUOUS

Bane SMASHES backwards through the door, Batman on him. Batman POUNDS Bane against the marble floor. Mercenaries guarding Miranda move towards them -

Bane: Stay back. He is mine -

Bane SMASHES Batman’s head - moves in for the kill, but Batman SMASHES Bane to the ground, RIPS sideways across the tubes of Bane’s mask with the blades of his forearm. Bane bellows, thrashing in AGONY. Batman holds him down with a hand on his throat - searches him with his free hand.

Batman: Give me the trigger! You’d never give it to an ordinary citizen -

Bane’s thrashing calms as he stares at Batman through pain-soaked eyes...gasping relief.

Bane: I broke you. How have you come back?

Batman: You thought you were the only one who could learn the strength to escape?

The script for BB was also much stronger than the finished film, in my opinion.

I don't think the script for TDKR was any stronger besides a few extra pieces of dialogue from Bruce and Alfred.

And in the script, it seems we would've never gotten this which was probably added later on since Batman broke Bane's tubes only inside City Hall

I just re-watched the final fight between Batman and Bane and when Batman gets the upper hand and starts dodging every shot Bane throws at him while countering; I still get goosebumps, lol. I would have loved for the stuff that was cut out from the final fight to be left in the film, but as it stands, it's still a solid final showdown between the two.

And I will never get enough of Batman's - Tell me where the trigger is, then you have my permission to die.

I just love the sounds that Bane makes when his mask gets hit.

It could have been better tought. This segment of the script isn't that well written. Lack of imagination or i don't know what it is. If a larger fight was in the script but not in the finished film i would understand, its a time and pacing issue but when it's so weak on paper....come on ! You could at least try to make it a bit more epic.

God, some of the dialogue in TDKR is so damn lazy. And in the script, there's even more.

"Stay back. He is mine."

Lol.

Agree. It's very Batman:TAS-esque when Batman is dodging Bane's punches. And the script didn't have that last bit about Batman giving Bane permission to die...imo, what we see on film is so much better than what's on the script besides the part of The Tumbler speeding between them. I could see that part happening in the beginning before they started fighting it out while going up the steps to City Hall.

Lol.
These are Goyerisms. Lines that would work in a comic book but not that well on a film.

lmao, yeah that is pretty weak.

I thought they handled using the word "rise" much better in TDKR than "fear" in BB. But some of the other dialogue was kind of hit or miss. Not terrible, but not as crisp as TDK. The clean slate plot device was pretty bad. I mean, I love the idea of it. Especially when Batman says "I acquired it to keep it out of the wrong hands". That's another Batman moment that isn't brought up too much, but I wish it had a different name than just "the clean slate".

It's funny because some of the best lines are actually absent from the film.

Comic books are rarely that badly written.
