Nope. That's why I rarely post in here....if I express my opinion, and my opinion is NOT that TDKR is god's gift to mankind....then I am only here to bash it.

I was discussing and explaining why I find fault with it. But as usual...that is not allowed.

So goodbye.

First of all, I wasn't referencing you specifically C.Lee. Second of all, it was just a joke. Hence the emoticon.

The debate is fairly heated with a lot of sarcasm being thrown around on both sides right now. I was just trying to take a step back and make light of the situation for a moment. Let's be honest, several people here are having quite a go at the film right now. And they have every right to. Doesn't mean I can't make a lighthearted joke about it, does it?

On top of all that, right now I think I'm in the minority. I feel like more of a dissenter in this thread for being pro-TDKR.

Would he just sit there shouting "NOOOOOO!" while the person set up the picture, typed a caption, then uploaded it?

He does that, he makes a scene and even more people notice it.

It's only a matter of time before Bruce is found out and undeclared dead for the thousandth time.

A yes, a clean slate, which automatically erased every picture of Bruce Wayne in every printed newspaper and tabloid in existence... destroyed paper records... and erased people's memories like that red flashy stick in MiB.

Yeah, that's EXACTLY what I said. :whatever:

If his prints were erased and he had a new identity set up, all anyone could prove is that they ran into some guy that looks a lot like Bruce Wayne.

If his prints were erased... ? Prints aren't just digital.

:funny:

Good posting. That clean slate thing is terrible. Let's not forget all of Selina's book thick TANGIBLE documents that Blake throws at her after he books her.

Are people actually acting like that clean slate contrivance makes any logical sense at all??? Its the first time I've seen someone defend it like that.

I love how Dagget is like, "shooot, that thing I looked into and know about doesn't even exist" then Batman's all like, "it does exist, I've had it all along and obtained it after I was in a pit for months without any money or communication to the outside world".

Fantastic.

That's the only logical way Blake is fitting in that TDK suit too (which was form fitting for Wayne). Suit me up indeed.

I actually don't think there's a Batsuit in the cave. It's not like Burton's version where he had a closet full of them. He had two- the one that he gets 'broken' in, and then the one he retrieves from the Bat-bunker for the third act.

It's one of the reasons I don't think Blake will simply just be "the next Batman", but rather something else entirely that still uses the symbol as a rallying call. There's no Batmobile in that cave either, the main thing he inherits is the Bat-computer and some other gadgets.

Ummm...it's established that Bruce "acquired it to keep it out of the wrong hands" before all of that. I'm afraid that in your effort to prove how thinking breaks this film, you're actually starting to overthink it and make stuff up. :cwink:

P.S. You guys are going harsher than usual, I must say. Did you all make resolutions to try even harder to bash the movie this year? :oldrazz:

LOL I thought the same thing. This thread has been more "alive" today than it has been in months. We even have C. Lee joining in, who I honestly never expected to post here much, much less be on the anti-TDKR side.

For me, it is part nostalgia. I forgot how much fun I had in this thread. I have more fun here than I do in the Batman vs. Superman thread, even though my expectations for that film are significantly lower than my opinion on TDKR. You know why? Because of you guys. Everyone here is unpredictable. Almost every post surprises me and gives me something to think about, whether I agree with it or not. It is by no means a thread where I just spend 2 seconds coming up with the reply or leaving a boring post like "Yeah, I agree with that" or "Oh yeah, good point".

Then you go over to the main Batman vs. Superman thread, and all the "new guys" are very predictable. You can read them like a textbook. If I go there right now and leave a post explaining why I don't have high hopes for the film, I can already predict the exact arguments they will reply with and the way in which they'll word it. Having discussions with them is no fun at all. :oldrazz:

I still want to know if anyone just so happened to be:

1) In that particular diner.
2) Happened to stare at the stranger at the table.
3) Knew who Bruce Wayne was.
4) Knew what Bruce Wayne looked like.
5) Gave a ****.

What would they do? He used a clean slate, so his identity was wiped clear. One would assume that he and Selina have new IDs now and that their prints wouldn't be on file even if someone were to manage to check.

Much like Sam Raimi when he filmed the train scene in Spider-Man 2, you forget that we live in the era of cell phones. Anyone can take a picture and upload it to the internet within seconds.

Alright. Someone just has to go into that diner, happen to look at that stranger, know who Bruce Wayne is, know what Bruce Wayne looks like, give a ****, decide to tell the world, somehow get his fingerprints, fly back to America, find someone with the authority to match his prints, figure out what his new identity is so you can find him and then... profit?

You brought up the prints, not me. All they "need to do" is take a pic and upload it to the internet.

Anywho, not hard to redigitize prints once you pull out the hard copy.

In Batman '89, Batman has ONE suit in the vault armory (which the Nolan's "borrowed"). That thing gets shot, knifed, etc. and it's still the same one.

I would have thought it was a one and done in the Dark Knight movies too . . . until he loses his first one to Bane, then goes to his freaking Batbunker for a spare. So yeah, that doesn't fly. Nolan Batman has infinite gadgets in the cave and bunker (look at his cages, he has atleast 10 grapple guns, 10 sticky bomb guns etc.) He has 10,000 graphite cowls. :funny:

If he has an extra suit for Bane, there's a suit for Blake.

Kinda like Batgirl in Batman and Robin. Not Batman per se, but a "batesque" knock off.

Great legacy Bruce.

And again, he has a new identity now. So the most that will come of it is "Wow. That guy does look like Bruce Wayne."

Its ridiculous to think that's the most that would come of it.

:yay:

I love your attitude Shika. I think you and I are much more in the same boat when it comes to Batman vs. Superman. I barely even post in that section just because I already know what people are going to say to any given concern I might want to throw out there, so it's not really worth it for me at this stage.

I'm glad TDKR can offer you some nostalgia and escape, even if it's nostalgia for criticizing/debating it. :funny:

Clearly I was referring to Returns.

If he has an extra suit for Bane, there's a suit for Blake.

Not necessarily. It's pretty simple to me- if he decided to keep the bunker up and running for all those years, why not ring up Lucius and stock it with a second suit? Makes sense to me.

NO! I'm not listening!

Logic...do not use humanity's greatest gift against me. :o

Would he just sit there shouting "NOOOOOO!" while the person set up the picture, typed a caption, then uploaded it?

Does he have eyes everywhere to notice every person in a huge crowd that would try to take a picture of him?

But even if he notices, what do you expect him to do? He can't exactly just get up and smash the guy's phone.

Because Bruce's body was never found, he had a small private funeral, once someone who looks like him appears in a high quality photo online, conspiracy theories start. Then people start looking into it. Then one of the employees who knows leaks info. Then you've got the CIA or NSA involved. And so on. Its the internet age. Someone as famous as Bruce Wayne can't just only erase his digital records and then disappear, especially not if he's hanging around in public tourist areas.

Still an awful plot point and poor motivation for the characters. It's not enough to say that Selina wants out of crime? Nah, throw in a worthless gimmick to underline that idea. If Selina wanted to start a new life, she should have left Gotham before leading Batman to Bane after Dagget "tricks" her. Any time your theme/plot point is a little trinket/do dad that the movie spends two scenes on, it fails. It ain't the One Ring, it's a contrived piece just like the OMG CLEAN ENERGY TURNED NUCLEAR BOMB.

I loved how Bruce just pulls it out of his pocket too after,

A. losing everything he owns (arsenal, company, money, city, Alfred)
B. spent 5 months in a pit in the middle of nowhere
C. out in a desert in the middle of nowhere with only a short amount of time to get back in Gotham

Forget the clean slate device and fire bridge beacons, I'd be more interested in hauling my ass back to Gotham to stop Bane. Just take Selina to Florence Italy or something, you don't need that thing . . .

Not necessarily. It's pretty simple to me- if he decided to keep the bunker up and running for all those years, why not ring up Lucius and stock it with a second suit? Makes sense to me.

Or two or three like his Tumblers, The Bats, the grapple guns, the capes, the gauntlets (which we see a TON of in TDKR back in the Bunker by the way), etc . . . . . .

He has atleast 10,000 cowls, 5 capes (see TDKR backpacks in bunker), 4 gauntlets (see TDKR gauntlets in bunker, even the Begins gauntlets). Cowl, cape, gauntlets, grapple. That's enough to be Batman.

:cwink:

I would just like to point out that it's now 2014 and we have 9 members and 11 lurkers in this thread. That's more than the main discussion thread in BvS right now.

Have we started the fire?

Just enjoy the ride!

Obviously Selina feared for her life until she had found a way to square things with Bane. She wasn't content to be seen as a "loose end" by them with them trying to kill her. That's not a fresh start.

Enough to get the ball rolling, sure. But he'd have to figure out the suit part. What he was left with invites some innovation is all I'm saying. Who knows, maybe Blakeman has the more comics-accurate kevlar fabric suit that the fans are clamoring for. :oldrazz:

You still know what I'm talking about. It's not hard to just recreate yourself as long as you don't get in trouble anymore . . . which is what Selina supposedly sought.

You defend this clean slate thing alot. It makes me wonder, how do you feel about the genetic codex in Man of Steel? Do you like that too?
