I think he ejected from the Bat when he flew it for the first time after the Stock Exchange chase, and the rest of the movie was a big "**** you" edit by Nolan.

It is editing, but in my opinion it wasn't before the bridge. It was after the Bat flies over the bridge/bus, Nolan shows a beach. That is where he ejects. It's shown for a reason.

They edited it that way because they wanted everyone to think he was dead so when you see him alive at the cafe with Selina at the end it's like an OMG moment for the audience. Even though they pepper you with clues leading up to that scene that's he's still alive. It's meant to look like he never ejected or had time to.

Indeed. The sequence after Tatelia dies is fantastic, in my opinion. Lots of good moments. The Bat/Cat kiss and Batman's "world hasn't ended" speech which gives his identity away to Gordon (and the flashback). They also really conveyed how heavy the bomb was. Scraping along the ground, hitting objects and barely making it across the river. Bale's expressions sells this a lot as well.

The cheering of the crowd after the explosion is also a good juxtaposition of moods. They're happy at the result (Gotham is saved), but the viewer is led to believe Batman has died as a result.

I love the look of amazement on Blake's face right before the Bat flies over the ocean, and then that score kicks in. So good.

I remember first seeing the shots of the kids' and Blake's reaction at the beginning of trailer 3. They made it seem like they were reacting to the bridge demolition. Sneaky b*****ds!

Trailer 3 is still one of my favorite trailers of all time. That music!

Same. I get goosebumps just thinking about that trailer.

It was the MTV trailer that gave me goosebumps.

A combination of the music and the wonderfully shot ''Don't be shy'' scene.

Ohhh, love that one too. That was the more badass, geek the f*** out trailer for me (though more of a sizzle reel than a proper trailer). Still watch it from time to time.

Nokia trailer was awesome, but trailer 3 was amazing. That trailer left everyone thinking, "Holy crap, is Batman going to die?"

I love Blake's reaction to Batman flying away with the bomb and then seeing it explod, before tossing his badge. You can just feel the awe and respect oozing out of him.

It just oozes out of his bones and stuff.

Al Pacino has claimed that Christopher Nolan is "miffed" with him.

He hasn't offered me a film in a while, you know why?

He asked me to be in this movie and I didn't do it. I think that might have miffed him a little bit, but I'm being presumptuous myself.

Anybody know what the movie might have been? I'm assuming either Begins or The Prestige.

Pacino in a Batman film? That would be so distracting to me for some reason, and I love Al Pacino. A role in the Prestige makes more sense.

Yeah, probably one of those two. Then again, with all the Heat influence in TDK it could've been Maroni too.

But yeah, I think The Prestige could be a good guess and something I could picture.

I wouldn't blame Pacino for turning down the role of Maroni.

Perhaps Nolan offered him the role of Tesla in The Prestige, or even Cutter before going with the warmer Caine.

Oh man, I'm now imagining Bale-Bats dropping Pacino off the balcony.

I saw that too and the first name that came to mind was Gordon. I love Oldham but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that he wasn't Nolan's first choice.

Supposedly, only Bale and Holmes were Nolan's first choices.
