Other than the fact that Snyder has a hard-on for muscles, it makes perfect sense to cast Affleck and go with that bulky Miller look when you're doing a universe with Superman, the Justice League, Darkseid etc. BEASTLY gods, kings, aliens, metahumans. Affleck is 6'4'' and we know the guy can get jacked. That's perfect for a Batman that looks straight out of the comics and needs to go up against Superman.

But everybody gets so hung up on visuals, that they sometimes only care about the look. That frustrates me. They're willing to throw away everything that Bale was about as Bruce Wayne and even Batman in order to convince themselves that Affleck is the perfect/better Batman. They haven't seen the movie. They see a very large Batman in a grey/black suit looking cool and we all think it's sweet. But i think the rest is more important. I feel the same about my childhood favorite Michael Keaton. People look at the voice and the suit and that's usually their argument. "Keaton was a better Batman. He didnt growl, he was calmer..". That's all you got? That's what makes the guy "Batman" over Bale? I dont get it sometimes.

Well said.

You know looking back, I never really understood the hate for the BB fight scenes. I remember the first time I saw it; I thought it was pretty amazing how Nolan took the approach of the villain or thugs perspective for the fights. The only fight sequence that could have been a bit more clear with the editing was the train fight with Ra's, but even then I didn't feel it was too jarring where I couldn't understand the fight itself.

I used to be harder on them but I've come to appreciate them more. There's a kinetic energy to a lot of the fights that I really like.

For me it was just the choreography that needed cleaning up (mostly it was fine though except for a couple of notable scenes like Batman saving Blake). It's funny remembering just how many people complained about the Batman Begins fight scenes where it's in that film where the fight scenes were blended the best with the quick cut editing. You see the limitations of wearing such a bulky suit (even with the more agile TDK one) in the sequels where Nolan goes for the more conventional camerawork, showing more of Batman than in the first movie.

Nolan/Bale for the most part did the best they could. The suit has been a problem for all the actors I think. On paper a man wearing this Kevlar suit fighting goons sounds great but in reality it's never going to look pretty, never mind a film-maker doing his best to try and make such a bulky suit look as seamless as possible in a fictional movie scene. Zack Snyder is going to go in the opposite direction I think with his over-stylisation which he is known for. It won't surprise me if some people will come out of BvS saying they miss the grittiness of the Nolan films. Likewise there are those who've never liked the ultra-grounded Nolan fights and prefer the Burton scenes. And then there are those who say that Batman should returned the BAM/POW days of Adam West. It's a tricky thing to get right.

Anyone else prefers the BB score over the others? Because I know I do.

Not only do I like it better, but I thought they implemented it better, too.

I thought the trailer version of the theme was pretty damn good as well.

I felt BB had the strongest score on the virtue of its well rounded-ness. TDK score was a bit to action heavy for my tastes. The BB score would hit you emotionally before propelling you into sprawling action.

But the MOS score is Zimmer's best superhero work, hands down.

Yeah it's hard to put down MoS.

You are right about BB, I had quite an experience listening to it while reading the the original Batman run of Finger #27-#37.

I love the BB score, it laid the basic foundation for a lot of what was to come. But the more prominent villain themes in TDK and TDKR gave their scores more menace and tension. BB's score is more atmospheric and contemplative, but TDK and TDKR felt more "Batman" to me and really brought the goods.

TDKR's score is way underrated IMO. Incredibly powerful. I think it's better than the MoS score. Zimmer's Superman theme (What Are You Going to Do...) is absolutely fantastic and I'd say it blows away the Mollosus Batman theme, but I think cue for cue, the Batman scores are better in terms of supporting their respective movie.

I like them all but Begins is unique for having more of James Newton Howard's material in it, who I like more as a composer than Zimmer. Each subsequent score lessens Howard's presence until he was completely absent for Rises, though I think that ended up working with the way the story progressed.

Anytime i see a clip of Superman saying "And it hurts? Doesn't it!" from Man Of Steel, i cringe. Such bad acting. Poor Cavill.

Man those videos are random hahah.

He was really saying 'it hurts, doesn't it?' to the audience.

I never liked how Superman went into slightly sadistic villain mode in that scene.

I'm trying to remember if that shot of the Tumbler landing on the roof was done with miniatures (or bigatures).
