That's awesome. Reminds me of this Bond manip:

A bunch of Batmen and 2 Moses actors (one of whom was also Jesus), it's almost enough to make your head explode.

Aw, poor Val hahaha.

I liked Val as Batman :csad: and I would have liked to have seen him in a better balanced Batman film.

Guys, I just saw Goku Goes Crazy in the Star Wars Episode VII thread. Holy crap that made me nostalgic for the TDKR anticipation days. :csad:

Who else thinks the from the moment Batman saves Gordon to when he gives Selina Kyle the Batpod is the best stretch of Batman-performance ever for Christian Bale? The scene where he instructs Blake after saving him is goosebump worthy. His body language, eyes, even the voice is perfect here. Further credit goes to Wally Pfister for lighting Bale in way where you can only see his eyeballs within the wide abyss of darkness that is the rest of his cowl.

Those are great moments, and how I like to interpret the film and Bruce's arc in it is that when You see Batman earlier in the film it was Bruce basically pretending to be Batman and trying to remember how to be him, and at that moment there is no pretending. That's not Bruce wearing a suit, but the true Batman right in everyone's face.

Batman is at full strength in those moments. I love this exchange:

"Hey, thanks."
"Don't thank me yet."
"Well, I might not get a chance to later."

After Blake says that, Batman looks down for a second then looks back up. Chilling.

Excellent performance in that instance. I almost wish Nolan never had Bale scream. It doesn't suit him. He should've been the silent whisperer.

The way Bale as Batman looked at people and spoke with his eyes was something that I always was a fan of in the whole trilogy. That's something I love about him as an actor period but especially when he was Batman.

^ Agreed. I love Bruce's earnestness when he's in the car with Blake, telling him about the idea that Batman could be anybody. There's such a sincerity in Bale's deliveries throughout the trilogy, and especially in TDKR.

One of the reasons I don't like the white lenses in live action.

Omg, I totally agree with this and I thought I might've been alone in feeling that. I adore that whole stretch.

From badass lines like "War..." and "All out assault on Bane..." to the more emotional ones like "Don't thank me yet" and "Not everything...", I actually got goosebumps just thinking about it. Everything from his movement to his eyes to his voice feels so assured, in the face of impossible odds.

Yes! He embodied the heart and soul of Bruce Wayne. There's such a longing in his voice in that scene. He wants to still believe in the symbol of Batman, that it can be a force of good.

Absolutely agree. I need to see the actor's eyes when I'm looking at Batman. I need to see that mix of darkness and humanity. Lens are cool for comics and cartoons but the eyes are what I look for in live action Batman. Bale and Keaton both owned with their eyes, but did different things with them.

The interrogation scene in TDK is for me so amazing not just because of Ledger's performance but because of how Bale was looking at him. I kept saying in the theater "Oh my god that's Batman and The Joker" over and over like a crazy person.

It will be interesting to see how they will incorporate the white lenses in Deadpool.

That's actually one of my biggest worries with 'Fleck. His eyes are not as expressive as either Keaton or Bale's. That's an either you have it or you don't thing. Could detract from his performance both in and out of the cowl for me.

I would love to be proven wrong though. And no, that clip from the trailer didn't convince me of anything. Loved the hair though.

Batman has to yell, from time to time. It's the rage!

It just depends on how it's executed.

"Where are they?" "Swear to me!" "Where is he?" works much, much better than "Where is the trigger?"

Anyways, that's probably one of my personal gripes with TDKR - Bale is just so good, I really wanted more of him in the suit. Just the way he says "War" during his second return scene. Gives me chills.

I f***ing love Batman's growls during the second fight with Bane, especially when their hands/fists are locked together. Or, how about the intensity in shots like this:

Yeah even in the performances he's had lately they're not as expressive. That works for the character he played in Gone Girl and it added to what that character went through, but that one closeup of him looking at the batsuit didn't really put my mind at ease. Unfortunately my mind flashed to Bale looking at his suit and Keaton looking out with the bat signal light behind him. I kept saying stop it brain!

They're using CGI to make the lenses move like they do in the comics. It works for that, in theory at least, due to the tone but not with Batman for me.

LOL same.

And yeah georgec I loved how visceral Bale's Batman was at times. Batman gritting his teeth is such an iconic image from the comics and I feel like we never saw much of that until Bale came along.

I don't even SEE Christian Bale here (the gif is hilarious though I know lol):

Love this.

The raccoon makeup around the eyes and the cowl itself both help accentuate the eyes, as they did for Keaton and Bale. I imagine it will be the same for the Fleck of Bat.

All these posts. Nice change from all the "OHMAG IT'S BLACK AND GREY!!" lately. :p

Yea, that scene became something of a "meme", but it really is such a great introduction to Batman's feral side in BB. His utter disdain for crooked cops like Flass who contribute to the rot within Gotham. Another good one to mention is the way Batman has Joker pinned to the wall during the interrogation, just before Joker reveals Rachel is also kidnapped. Batman's eyes in that moment are so good - you can tell he's using all his willpower to restrain himself.
