Pro:

I loved, LOVED the humor. It was natural, hardly forced. These are grown men in tights. When you don't use humor, that fact is heightened. When you use humor, with all irony, you can take them more seriously.

Jessie Lexberg looks fun.

Con/Pro/I dunno:

Ben's batvoice is as ridiculous as Bale's.

New trailer just hit.

I have to watch it a few more times. Seems like they cut a Marvel type trailer here, showing MUCH more humor. Doomsday confirmed, which means more destruction but at least it's better than Bizarro or evil Superman. Im also glad that they're not holding onto Doomsday for a solo film in the future, because he's one-dimensional, and deserves to be used in a final act like this.

Lex seems very generic and hammy beyond belief. Like a Marvel villain. Always happy, and quite annoying. Eisenberg is hitting the notes though.

I wanted Ben as Bruce, not raging, and i got it. I enjoyed him in the beginning. Very much. But guess what fanboys (wrong thread i guess...), his voice in the regular grey suit is just as growly as Bale's. His mechanical suit? It's clearer and..mechanical. I can't wait to hear the Snyder fans come up with ways to tell me that it's not like Bale, or how "it works in this scenario" instead of what Bale did. That last line about Wonder Woman was pure Bale. And i don't have a problem with it.

But what about this Batman line "It's time you learn what it means to be a man". Yeah, i don't think the Miller haters are gonna like this Batman.

Lex: "If man won't kill god, the devil will do it". Didn't like that line. And if any DC villain is the devil and can take out these guys, it's Darkseid.

That was a...weird trailer. They're definitely trying to push the humor and lighter tone now, it feels like a direct response to all the criticism of doom and gloom.

Positives- I said I'd say so if I liked what I saw from Affleck, and as promised- I did. So far I am liking his delivery as Bruce. He lowered his tone of voice a bit, and I like it. He's definitely going to be a charmer as Bruce. The socialite aspect is something that I'm not surprised to see him nailing, I must say. The Bat-voice....well, he's not really doing one. He's just talking in a low voice and the rest is completely digital processing. Which a lot of people guessed. It's not a bad approach, but it's a bit Robo-Batman for my taste.

Negatives- Not feeling Eisenberg so much. He seems like a real wild card to me, right now he feels almost like he's in a different movie.

I definitely will say that now I really feel like I need to see this movie to get the context of everything. The tone of the first two trailers and this one is like night and day. I'm still seeing signs all over this movie that this could be a giant Snyderiffic disaster, but I'm also seeing signs that it might just be so much fun that it almost doesn't matter.

Interesting...

I think that was the first trailer for the movie that I feel just didn't work for me. The Snyder visuals are on point as always, but that was really it. It's funny that I always defended Bale's Batman voice while most other people hated it, while I think it's gonna be the other way around this time because that voice just put me off. I thought it was just gonna be in the mechanical suit. Doomsday being done so early just feels wrong to me. The trailer is cut a little strangely to me, and Lex Luthor SUCKED!!!!!! It's like he's in a different movie from Batman and Superman. That was just a strange trailer to me. The second trailer was so much better.

He means that men are able to bleed and die, unlike alien beings such as this Superman...

Lex is annoying and i don't fault Eisenberg because he's VERY much into this role. He's having a blast but that's the problem. It's written like a villain that we would expect in a Marvel movie. It's not far away from say..Loki in Avengers. That's why i dont care about seeing him in more movies after this. It's too bad. I would have preferred a Joaquin Phoenix, a Bryan Cranston, whatever. Just a more serious character for a more serious character to add some weight and pure evil into the role. That way the stakes feel higher than just some young bratty rich kid who looks like he's sicking Doomsday on Superman and setting up a Batman/Superman rivalry only because he's looking at them as toys that he can play with & destroy. At least that's what im getting out of it.

I took it as a ego thing at first but you're right. I still think it's dumb though. Batman thinks he can make Superman bleed and die? Is he stupid? Unless he has kryptonite, then okay fine.

If that trailer is indicative of Eisenberg's overall performance as Lex Luthor, then he is going down as one of the worst CBM villains. He was dreadful. So hammy and cartoonish. I'm assuming that monster thing was Doomsday. He reminded me of the Abomination from The Incredible Hulk.

Yeah Snyder's clearly giving his Batman the kind of raspy gritty vocals Bale's Batman had. But then we all know Snyder worships Nolan so no surprise there. I liked Affleck's Wayne. The line about freaks dressed as clowns made me smile.

Thoroughly unimpressed again overall. Doesn't look like a bad movie, just looks very 'meh'.

Dude, it's trash talk. Lol

Surely the last line is him actually growling ala Bale?

About Lex: I liked it. Despite the appearance, his over the topness feels taken straight from the silver age.

But yes, I suppose in another universe he could've given a less hammy, more serious and sardonic like the social network on steroids performance and it would be just as good.

I liked it. He comes off as an arrogant, know-it-all *****e, which seems to be the idea.

I'd just like to point out that this is the first time we've seen Batman curse on screen, I think? He actually curses twice in this trailer. I don't hate it!

Shape...I really liked Ben in this trailer. There was not one spot where I wasn't buying it. I'm starting to think he might impress me with his Bruce Wayne. He's doing something with the voice that gives him a somewhat old timey, old money-ish vibe. Can't quite put my finger on it, but I dig it.

The movie on the other hand...I honestly have no idea what to make. This trailer has thrown me for a bit of a loop.

That's gotta be digital. I'm listening on my Sennheiser studio headphones and it's clear as day the effects processing is as clear as day, possibly of multiplier of some sort too. Mind you Bale had processing to his voice too, but it was mostly a low end boost and he was still physically growling. I think what they're doing here is letting Affleck talk more normal so you can retain more clarity in his delivery but still have that somewhat demonic sound. I could be wrong, but I'm like 90% sure. It's not a bad approach, but like I said the downside of that is it ends up sounding a bit more mechanical. I could see myself getting used to it though.

It could be entertaining but he's like a cartoony character and it rubs me the wrong way.

This trailer makes me soooo anxious to see a pure Batman film with Affleck in the role and directing. Away from all the Doomsday, Luthor, Wonder Woman nonsense.

Well, having really enjoyed the last two trailers, that was not good...

Luthor was far too spastic, hyperactive, and overly flamboyant. It was like watching a bad Saturday morning cartoon villain.

Clancy Brown's Luthor in the DCAU is perfect, and none of the live action adaptions have come close to matching it so far. Although I can't speak for Rosenbaum in Smallville as I never watched it.

Rosenbaum was better than what I just watched, even with the writing on that show. He was usually my favorite thing about it performance wise.

I thought I would never see the day when a Marvel trailer would be gloomy and serious while a DC movie trailer is humorous and cheerful in places.

Now we wait for Apocalypse. Our only chance at a great comic bool villain next year. Sure as hell not gonna be Luthor, Doomsday, or Baron Zemo.

what do you think of the Bat voice?

I'm actually digging it a bit, from what we heard (which wasn't much). I said this in the other thread:

Strangely enough, even with the robotic-sounding voice, he stills sounds more natural than Bale's Bat-voice because he's not trying to so hard to be deep and gravely to the point that he nearly exasperates himself at times.

We need to hear more of it, but I don't think it will be as jarring in context once we're given to opportunity to hear more of it and get used to it. I didn't even notice it upon first viewing.

---

It's also good that you can hear Ben's actual voice in there as well, and it isn't literally just a voice changer that completely changes his voice. My honest preference is Keaton's voice, but if the choices were this or the kind of extremely forced growl that Bale had to keep up, I would definitely choose this.

At least his Bat-voice will be consistent. I love Bale's Batman and never really hated his Bat-voice, but it was extremely inconsistent. There were some times it sounded great, and many times that it sounded awful.

I just watched the Justice League episodes "Injustice for All" the other night, and Lex was pretty over the top in that. Not too far off from what was seen in this trailer.

Rosie was great until that whole ****** Lana love story thing.

And, then they went and pooped over all of that greatness in the finale... ****ers.

I'm "interested" in Ben, but Bale will always be "my Bruce/Batman".

He was a great Lex, I thought.

No he wasn't. Not even close to it. That Lex was dark compared to the Eisenberg version in that trailer.
