It usually gets brought right back to Nolan's Batman anyway, everytime we go off topic.

You are getting laughed at by the biggest laughingstocks of superherohype. Enjoy the irony. They won't.

These are my exact thoughts every time I see certain people posting in the "Tivo" or "describe a Hype member with a gif" threads.

Funny he didn't raise the same question when we were discussing Civil War a few pages ago.

Perhaps what he's actually saying is that he doesn't want to read any more criticism of BvS :oldrazz:

As for the footage, I liked it. I think Affleck looks great in the cowl and the scene itself seems like it's going to be one of the standout moments from the film.

By the way...Anyone else got a little weirded out by Batman in this clip? Due to my "Bat-rubber suit conditioning", the first time I saw the clip my mind kept telling me that something was "off" and Batman wasn't supposed to look like this, even though I knew that was silly, and of course I already knew what Batfleck looked like. I had to see the clip a couple more times for my mind to get used to it :funny: the Knightmare coat certainly wasn't helping, LOL.

Sorry that was a little weird. In my defense, my first childhood memory is having this dream of wearing the B89 Batsuit in my garden and doing some acrobatics, so I guess the rubber suit is forever etched in my mind.

Well, carry on.

I can't believe people are using 'knightmare' unironically. This is a serious movie guys.

It's because he is turning his head. I know Bale could turn his head since 2008, but Bats never turned his head FULLY to the side before this. We, or at least I, am used to Batman standing rigidly while shifting his eyes to the side.

You know, I'm hoping the end result is a very good movie. However this teaser hasn't convinced me of Ben Affleck as Batman yet. I don't have quibbles about him, I got the impression that he is a very talented guy, just by his credentials though I haven't seen much of his work.

However there's still something off about his Batman for me. Perhaps it's just the way the trailers have been, but he doesn't seem as imposing as Keaton or Bale in the cowl, even if he looks just like he stepped out of a comic book. Perhaps it's something in the eyes emotiveness. I just haven't seen enough to be enthusiast about his performance.

Just by watching the clip, there is a radical shift between Bruce masked and unmasked. Then again, as most have pointed out it we just have to wait and see.

Yeah. Keaton was effortlessly disturbing. Those eyes. He looked insane. Bale had a different kind of intensity. An all consuming anger.

Disturbing? I never got freaked out by his eyes. He did it well, but he never looked crazy or anything.

I wish I could get behind what you're saying, but I feel that bringing up Nolan's thoughts on Heath's Brokeback Mountain performance doesn't help your case, nor does it make for anything close to an apples-to-apples comparison. Brokeback Mountain is a realistic drama that depicted the raw, complex and sexual relationship between two men. This is a superhero film that depicts the conflict between a human vigilante and a super-powered alien being.

Due to the extreme difference in subject matter and size/scope, along with the nature of these films, any lead performance is destined to be more broad and showy than other smaller, more emotional and realistic films. For instance, Christian Bale undoubtedly and naturally delivered more showy and broad performances in the TDKT both as Bruce and Batman than he has in other films like Out of the Furnace.

I had a feeling you'd point that out, and you're absolutely right. It's not quite a fair comparison. However, the relevance of the quote to me is that Nolan was talking about why he cast Heath as The Joker. And indeed, Heath's performance is over the top and scene-stealing...yet it never feels like he's mugging for the camera. There's an internal quality he brings to the role where you simply believe he is the character. It's a quality Bale brought to it too, despite the performance still being what some would call 'broad'. There was still a certain amount of authenticity he brought to it where I never (or very rarely) found myself questioning the sincerity of the performance and was just immersed in the story. That's what I tend to prefer in these larger than life, iconic roles. The less I'm thinking about the actor playing the part, the better. This is the uphill battle Ben has had from the get go. Overcoming the baggage be brings to it. He himself knew that going into it though. It's been done before though. I was not originally a fan of the casting of Chris Evans as Captain America. I thought he was all wrong for it based on the previous work of his I'd seen- including Human Torch. Now I can't imagine anyone else playing the role. He is that character.

Obviously, we still need to see the movie to see the full range of Ben's performance and get the context of everything. I'm excited to see the trailer tomorrow. Believe me, if I see anything at all that encourages me I'm going to make it known.

And like the last time, I know it's a bit harsh to be making snap judgments on short clips. I just can't help but feel a bit nervous when I keep consistently seeing clips of him that give me the same pause. Clearly it's just my opinion (and a few others), as it seems like the majority of people like what they've seen so far. And as I've said, it's not like I've disliked everything I've seen- I've pointed out what I've liked too. I know it probably seems like I'm stretching or getting too caught up in my own head- maybe I am, but I also know that this kind of stuff can get very subjective and it comes down to a feeling. Not just when it comes to acting- particularly playing a role this iconic. We bring our own baggage to it, and sometimes so do the actors.

I'd kind of forgotten about BvS with the recent Civil War trailer and the new Star Wars coming out this month. I kinda of wish I hadn't even seen that little clip because it's somewhat out of context. I know it's a dream sequence of sorts, but eh, didn't do too much for me. Doesn't hype me up, nor deflate my anticipation for the film.

Speaking of Star Wars though, I just finished watching The Empire Strikes Back in an anticipation for The Force Awakens.

I'm hoping that my current apathy toward BvS/CA: CW is simply because Star Wars is busily consuming my very soul. :funny:

I will say, I'm very curious about this next trailer.

The SDCC Trailer just threw so much at the wall, and IMO showed too much too soon. I'm hoping this one is less bombastic and starts to get me emotionally invested.

This is their chance to pull the TDKR/MoS "Trailer 3" card. I still think Trailer 3 for Man of Steel is incredible even though I'm not the biggest fan of the film.

As I said I was been sarcastic

I really couldn't give a crap what gets slated, we each have our own opinions

The thing is trailers are usually Snyder's strong point. They are usually better than his actual movies. So when even his trailers aren't great then it doesn't look good.

Although maybe it will be the opposite this time. Mediocre trailers, great movie.

Oh I know. However, I do think that trailer editing can be an artform unto itself, so I still am able to enjoy them separately for what they are. I still have fond memories of the original Watchmen teaser blowing my mind before my midnight showing of TDK.

Looking forward to your reactions to the trailer, Bat-Men. It's gonna be a hot night in the cold town tonight...

...you've got kind of a dark side, don't you?

Keep going and eventually one of you is going to have to lick the others face.
