The Dark Knight Rises The TDKR General Discussion Thread - - - - - - - Part 156

Seeing Logan it sort of reminded of TDKR in that we got to see an actual finality to a comic character on screen which we rarely get in comic book films.

Yeah, it's a significant aspect of why both films are as good as they are. Iron Man 3 attempted something similar, but because of the serialization of the MCU it wasn't really possible.

Brues's story as Batman or training someone is over. Bruce would never go back to Gotham. Anything from Gotham, apart from Selina is behind him.
Bruce would never train him. Bruce is living a normal life now.

I disagree with that. I don't think Bruce would just give him his resources without making sure he was properly trained. He can't expect Blake to travel around the world and meet some ninja master in a foreign prison, like he managed to do. He probably sent for Blake and had Blake come to him.

Not sure how good of an idea it is to have a Batman operating out of a Batcave directly beneath an orphanage, though.

And I can't really see Bruce reading about some new terrorist villain taking Gotham hostage and terrorizing and outsmarting the new Batman, and just saying "Glad I got outta there! Somebody else's problem now."

Just kinda felt like giving an emotional, thematic conclusion to both Batman and Bruce Wayne, that doesn't really make much sense logically after the credits roll

It doesn't make sense because you're assuming somebody will outsmart the new batman or that Blake won't be trained. He is smart and will be trained. And that's not even the point. The point is that the symbol lives on no matter who is alive or behind the suit. 100 years from now there will be a batman to protect Gotham if need be. That's the point. All the little details of what if a new Bane comes to town, makes no difference. The next batman will be challenged, and batman will prevail. Just like Bruce. And since we'll never see any of the future generations under the cowl , on screen, all the details don't matter. Batman was passed onto a version of Robin, who will take the mantle.

I just re-listened the OST, man, the Imagine The Fire track is one of the best grandiose pieces ever written.

:hehe:
When I did my batman film marathon this year I was wondering why this track isn't in, it's a shame as it could have been used to correct some of the early scenes transitioning at quite a fast pace.

The reason it isn't in is pretty simple- Zimmer writes these super long suites to gather ideas before he even really starts scoring the movie. He then pulls from them as needed, but it's never a guarantee that all of the material will make it into the film. It's not just Imagine the Fire...there's a TON of unused music for TDKR out there if you've ever heard the full suites that got released via the app at the time. A lot of it is quite awesome.

And also for TDK, the most popular track on that OST- Like a Dog Chasing Cars. The epic middle chunk that everyone loves? Not in the movie.

I think Zimmer likes including those things on his releases because they give a window into his process of trying to tap into the heart of the film, even though the editing rhythms of the films didn't really have room for them in full.

Wasn't the middle chunk incorporated in the Prewitt building scene?

Same basic cue, but that's from the track "Introduce A Little Anarchy". The version on LADCC is a separate orchestration and performance, and also extended.

Btw Kreem Pi, I can't help but wonder if you're an old friend. The question is... who? :hmm

Do you guys think the "interrogation" scene in Homecoming was a nod to Batfleck?

Absolutely lol

"I'M NOT A GIRL, I'M A BOY!! I MEAN, I'M A MAN!!!" :funny:

Mondo is selling them for $60 until Friday.

I heard people complaining about that poster. How it was reopening the wound of Nolan's non-fantastical Gotham in their fragile psyches. And how awful the suit is. Christ peeps.
