thanks.

also, were there any Kansas references in this film ( aside from Clark being buried in Smallville )?

like, saying Clark got a journalist degree from University of Kansas?

or mentioning the KC Royals?

stuff like that?

Just what you saw in the last TV spot about his dad.

ETA Oh, and Perry makes a good crack referencing the Wizard of Oz about clicking his heels three times and going back to Kansas when he disappears.

They are looking at Doomsday in the epic three shot
Superman: "It's kryptonian. It's not of this world."
WW:"I fought monsters not of this world before."

Sweet! Was hoping for something more specific, but the film needed to stay focused on the main two I guess.

Are there any mentions or allusions to any WW-related characters? Like the gods, Hippolyta/the Amazons, Steve, Barbara Minerva, etc.? Or is she just shrouded in mystery for the whole thing?

Yes. We see a photo taken in 1918 of Diana, Steve and some other allies (i.e. a photo taken on the set of the solo movie).

Also, in her first scene, Lex Luthor is recounting a Greek myth as part of his speech, including some bits about the King of the Greek Gods, and Diana doesn't necessarily roll her eyes, but it's clear from her facial expression that she knows that Lex doesn't have a clue what he is talking about. So, I guess there are allusions to her being familiar with the Greek Gods.

Not much else is revealed about Diana. She appears to be a lone wolf. She has incredible knowledge of ancient weapons / artefacts. She's independently wealthy. She's comfortable in man's world, including with technology like cars, computers, email, planes, etc, but doesn't have the sophisticated / advanced technology or know-how to crack Lex's encryption software.

I admit that I'm looking forward more towards Diana/WW than I am to Superman and Batman.

That Lex scene in particular sounds great.

You should be! But, temper those expectations with the fact that her name isn't in the title of the film and her scenes are quite small and short. Even in the final battle, I lost track of what Wonder Woman was doing and where she was on the battleground at times.

I know. :o

but I'll take what I can get. :oldrazz:

That Lex scene in particular sounds great.

It's a very small scene and the camera is focused on all four of the major players - Lex, Bruce, Clark and Diana. So, it's just a small moment. Nothing too dramatic. My partner wasn't even sure if Diana was Diana in that scene. From memory, she doesn't even speak to anyone else in the entire scene.

You're memory serves you well. She doesn't.

Good one! I look forward to learning whether she meant creatures from Greek myth (which wouldn't really be from another world, unless she meant the Greek underworld) or actual "alien" beings (i.e. past invasion by Darkseid).

Clark's identity being revealed is a recent thing and might not even last. I'm surprised people still call the New52 terrible when it's given rise to plenty of great stories.

As someone who likes Martian Manhunter over Cyborg, I still don't find Cyborg being on the league an issue.

I have no issue with him being in the League. I have issue with DC (and no Warners) supplanting Manhunter and giving Manhunter's role in the league to Cyborg.

Man it's making me really sad seeing the people who haven't watched the movie yet make comments like "I know by the end of the movie Superman and Batman are tight and ready for another adventure" or "next movie will be lighter with Bats and Supes not fighting each other"

It's just. Damn.

Yeah, just adds to the depression. Superman gets persecuted the entire movie, beat up, then dies.

That's funny considering that someone said previously that the Doomsday fight seems more like Wonder Woman vs Doomsday. I guess everyone got a different impression.

Where does the title of the movie show up, by the way?

For those of you who have seen the film, is it that much darker than MOS as some people are suggesting? What is a roughly appropriate age for a child to view it?

Oh, wow. I didn't catch that, I remember her giving a look and Lex fumbling in his speech later on but I didn't put it together.

That's pretty great if that's the context of her reaction.

question about batman

In the last trailer that fight scene in the warehouse, Is there more to it than what we saw in the trailer and does batman have any fancy cool kicks ala cap in the winter soldier?

The fact that I lost track of where she was and what she was doing in the fight scene with Doomsday doesn't mean that she wasn't the most formidable fighter (which only stands to reason since Batman doesn't have any powers and Superman, although powerful, is inexperienced).

I'm not quite sure what you're asking about the title. The actual title appears in the lower right corner, in ALL CAPS, in relatively plain font during one of the first scenes. It's just overlayed over the scene in question.

I'd be weary of any kid under 12 just to be safe. See it for yourself first. I'm sure some 7 year olds would be fine it just depends what they can handle (or goes over their head). It's not the violence itself so much as the context. But yes it's darker both thematically and visually.

That was my interpretation. I *think* it was deliberate. I can't recall Lex's speech exactly, but he was saying something about Prometheus and Zeus and Zeus' lightning bolts. All stuff which Diana, if she *knows* the Greek gods, would have personal knowledge about.

I am extremely lax on movie ratings but I wouldn't take any kid younger than 13 to this.

Just in terms of tone and content. This a movie that opens with essentially a ground view of 9/11 followed immediately by execution style shootings. and thats just the first 10 minutes.
Even if you know a fairly mature kid, I just don't know what this film has to offer in terms of the take on the characters, Superman in particular. What this film has to offer is not particularly something I'd want a kid taking away from a Superhero film. Superman saving his girlfriend is explicitly explained to have led to the slaughter of entire village. This is as much of a deconstructionist take on superheros as Watchmen.

Hmm, thanks. That sounds like good advice. I might have to do a kid-free viewing first to make a sound judgment.

If I'm thinking of the correct trailer, there isn't too much more to the scene. It goes on longer, but it's just Batman doing more of the stuff that you already see him do in the trailer (i.e. battle a whole bunch of thugs who are armed with guns and knives). There are a couple of ... "cool" moments which I don't think are in the trailer which demonstrate the capabilities of the suit, grapple gun, etc.

"Lex, being the vindictive-and-unhinged replacement for the Joker that he is, leaves his own personal cup of “peach tea” for a character, in a scene I wont spoil"

this was in a review I read, please tell me this doesn't happen
