The Xbox One - Part 6

LOL. That image isn't accurate in the least. Iv never tried pressing the bumper from the curve, but when I saw that image I grabbed my controller and to no surprise, the thing presses fine. Hell you can even make the thing engage at the point where the bumper hits the center of the controller. The issue I think you are having is you are trying to press directly down, when the button that creates the engagement is closer to the outer edge of the controller. So instead of pressing down, press down and to the right(assuming you are pressing the RB). But that image of pressable/non pressable is a flat out, bold faced lie.
Actually, it isn't the slightest. Take your controller apart right now, and show me the contact points on the inside of the bumpers, because I can tell you with 100% certainty, that there isn't any. The bumpers work on a hinge system, and the only contact point is on the outside of the bumpers closest to your palms. What you're talking about, is forcing the button over to the contact point, in order for it to create the action, which you can do, but isn't close to being ideal, especially for people with larger hands and fingers. In other words, you're not pressing down on that red area, you're just forcing the hinge to move, and then make contact with the button. Whereas with the 360, the entire bumper is a button that can be pressed from any angle(inside, outside, middle), with the same level of pressure throughout.

Again, you can press on the inside, but you're not actually making contact with anything, you're just forcing the hinge system of the bumper to press down on the outside contact point. And the reason for this(if you take your controller apart you'll see), is because of the rumbles in the triggers.

Was the Titanfall bundle really not extra?
I got mine for $400, with no shipping or tax.

Yeah, there was some deal on eBay, and I jumped on it immediately. Brand new, too.

I think they sold for $500, though. So no, I don't think they were extra.

The MSRP was $500 but many retailers were selling it for $449 and even $399 the month of release. Some gave a gift card to offset the cost. The theory was that MS was offering discounts bc they wanted to win that month

No it is. You can make the button connect from anywhere on the bumper as I laid out previously. It's just a matter of understanding where that connection point is located(towards the edge of the controller). I agree it's not ideal, but that image claimed if you pressed at a particular point on the bumper, it wouldn't work. That is false.

Actually, a lot of them just wanted to get rid of the bundle to free up inventory. At least that's what an acquaintance in the business told me.

I almost bought one for 450.

I have heard of prices as low as 350.

Titanfall by all accounts isn't really a full game though. Certainly not worth 60 USD.

Yeah. I'd say that would be a decent price point.. Now anyway. New I really think it should have been 30 bucks. Maybe 40 but that's pushing it, IMHO.

If Titanfall sold originally for $30, I think it would've been more popular. But overall, it lacked a true campaign, and the MP was bare bones compared to most FPS out there. If I didn't get it bundled, I never wold have picked it up.

really hoping there will be some other good Holiday bundles besides the White Sunset and 1 TB CoD ones.

if they put out a standard black, 1 TB bundle with some free game ( like Forza ), I may jump on that.

I don't know about holiday, after all, you don't want to saturate the market with bundles.

But I think it's safe to say that by next year, a 1 TB Xbox One will become a standard option. Maybe 449.00?

No doubt. I remember there being a 120 gig(i think it was 120) Modern Warfare 2 bundle then not long after that standard 360s started coming with that sized hdd. It won't be long before they announce your standard 1TB X1.

yeah. and that might actually be the kink in my plan to get an X1 this year.

A standard 1 TB option for $450 would be an attractive option, and if that doesn't come out till next year..........that might behoove me to just wait.

Either that, or MS announces that they will start selling their own "MS branded" 1 TB hdd which existing owners can use to upgrade ( like they did with the 360 ). If I know there will be an option to upgrade at a later time, then I'll have to decide if I take the plunge now and just get the 500 GB model.

but, I'm kind of hedging my bets. in fact, I just preordered a few X1 games for the fall, just in case I get an X1 by then..............

Truth be told, I don't really get the Sunset Overdrive bundle. That seems a bit... random to me.

I understand they can't bundle Destiny, since Sony is already doing that, and relations between Microsoft and Bungie are kind of awkward, but it still seems like an odd choice.

well, Sunset has the chance ( if it's good ) to be the 1st real "must have" system exclusive ( since Titanfall didn't seem to blow up the charts ).

For prospective buyers, who dig the white console, why wouldn't you get this bundle? You get a free game and get introduced to a new IP. MS knows the X1 will be a big seller over the holiday, they know the white X1 will more than likely be popular, so they are gonna bundle a new IP with the console. Its just another example of MS's marketing machine at work and them wanting to push a new exclusive game.

Does MS have any other 1st party titles coming out this holiday? That might the reason.

Forza Horizon 2 and the Halo collection.

Neither are new IP's though. Thats why MS is bundling this. They're trying to get new X1 owners to take a look at SO, who might normally would have. I mean the other announced bundles are the Madden bundle and the CoD bundle. But one of those is aimed at a very specific market and the other isn't the new white colored console.

They already packaged one Forza game, so I can get not doing that. I didn't realize the Halo collection was this year.

It's not inconceivable that they might do a Halo bundle for Christmas. I would get a white Halo bundle for about 449.

I think the SO bundle probably got made because they can keep the price low.

That would be three bundles over three months. I doubt they will.

True, but I see SO as a minor bundle.

Not very often you can time a Halo bundle for Christmas.

It's certainly not impossible.

I mean, Europe has a FIFA bundle in addition to SO and Call of Duty bundles, right?
