Personally I would get a really good 1 TB drive.

I think Best Buy will have a pretty good deal of their own. No one wants to get out done by freaking Kmart.

if there's a good deal on a 2TB drive, I'll get that.

and yeah, I'm sure BB will have their own deal that week. hopefully, the ad will leak online soon so I can get an idea of what they're offering.

Quality over quantity. Unless you have a lot of money, then, well, you can have both.

But honestly, it's not like 500 GB is filled up overnight.

We got some serious gamers here, but the average gamer buys less than a dozen games a year. From what I'm seeing, it's actually close to 6.

the portable 2TB I'm eyeing is this WD one:

It's on sale for $110 and that's a price I consistently see it as. so I'm hoping on BF it will drop to around $80 or lower. then I'll pounce.

yeah. it should be a bit faster.

I was just worried if I used the external 2TB as my primary storage and ran the games off of it, it would wear the drive down faster. as opposed to just using it for storage.

The thing is, an external drive is just an internal drive with a nice shell. So, use it the same way you would an internal drive.

I suppose using a lot might make it wear down faster than rarely using it, but they are designed to last for years even with regular use.

well, it looks like this will be the route I go, barring some miracle announcement by MS that a standard 1TB console will be coming.

if BB offers ( or matches ) the Kmart deal that week, I think I'll go for it.

I'm not sure I want to go through the hassles and crowds during BF, even if the deals might be slightly better. maybe for the games, but not for the console.

I'm sure any great console deal would go fast, in store or online.

Gift cards unfortunately seem to be the new thing. Which I guess isn't terrible. But I would rather get a 400 dollar console than a 500 dollar console with a 100 dollar store gift card.

while the gift card forces you to shop at that store, it does kind of even out, especially if you were going to buy something from there anyways.

for example, if you got a new console, you'd want to get some games. so, with the 100 gift card, you could use that towards some games. or accessories. or something else.

I guess it all depends on what you want to get.

and it will be interesting to see how the X1 performs over the next few months. with all the bundles and deals/price cuts and exclusive games coming out, this would be the opportune time for the X1 to finally overtake the PS4 in sales.

however, it would be equally impressive if the PS4 managed to continue outselling the X1 through the holiday period.

hmmmm........

I'm actually kind of waiting for the reviews to come in on Sunset.

it's an X1 exclusive I'm interested in, but if the reviews are generally bad or mediocre, or if they point out things that don't sound appealing to me, that might play some role in my decision to get an X1. or at least my decision to get it right now.

hopefully, the reviews will start coming in tomorrow.

I'd certainly get it over Destiny.

of course, all of this depends on if I get an X1 in the 1st place.

Not really. I mean think about it. If the standard Xbox One is going on sale for 349 with 60 points (a free game basically), then it's about the same in price, deal wise.

The difference is that the Xbox One with Kinects are selling even more poorly.

DAI is 900p on the X1.

yeah. it may not be a straight price drop but rather a bundle with games or a gift card deal that gets it down to $400. I suppose it is possible on BF.

I heard that Amazon actually stopped selling the Kinect bundle. is that true?
