The Xbox One - Part 8

Mine started doing this weird thing, like when I turn the console on, it offers me hours of enjoyment. Odd. Im not sure what I should do about it.

Haha that's bad ass man

ha! yeah, it scared the crap out of me when I first turned it on........lol.

and it only makes the on/off sounds when you turn it on/off from the console button. if you turn it on/off from the controller, it's silent.

and that's actually a good thing, because I may not always want to hear those special sound effects.......lol.

but overall, I'm enjoying my console. I really like it. I won't actually start playing games until DAI and WWE 2K15 come out in a few weeks.

but, so far so good. :word:

say, can you "resize" a snapped app ( the one on the right ) to make it bigger?

also, can you set a home page on IE??

I went out and picked up that best buy exclusive midnight armed forces controller. Pretty slick pad IMO.

Yup, mine has the rattle/buzz noise, too. They're already sending me a replacement.

Let me know how that goes. I am going to try a swap at WalMart.

I really hope this issue isn't as widespread as it seems.

Well, I'll still try an exchange, and if that one hums, I'll send it in.

Too bad I can't have a white one.

aw console looks so awesome. my friend got the controller separately

Okay got a new one. Manager told me they had been having returns all week. Very common problem it seems.

It still makes an audible creaky / grinding noise, but not as loud. I guess I'll take it?

Anyway, I got two new AAA games for my trouble, so I suppose I can't complain too much.

If it gets worse I'll call Microsoft.

This has been one hell of a generation already.

the more i think about it, the more i really feel like the xbone is the console to own this gen. damn, my how things change

i don't doubt it. for someone who cares equally for both platform games, the only advantages the Ps4 has at this point are the better hardware and higher sales.

glad you were able to get a new one. hope the noise it makes now doesn't get worse. did you get another white one?

so, Walmart gave you 2 free games because you had to return your console??

indeed.

last year when I got my PS4, I said I'd only be owning one console this gen.

I'm not sure what the deal is with the noise, but I'll keep my eye on it. It is less loud, but I have yet to really do much with it.

It's almost impossible to get the Sunset Overdrive Bundle, so I got the Assassin's Creed Bundle instead. The manager didn't care about the codes since all Xbox One's (except for the CoD one) are the same price. So I kept Sunset Overdrive.

What I do find odd is that not everyone is reporting this noise problem, yet a lot of people believe that it's a result of them not having the Kinect.

ah, I see.

indeed.

ever since i was a kid i've only owned once console per gen and one is enough. although the xbone is the underdog right now and got a lot of heart for trying to be more than a gaming machine, I WANT my new gen console to be more than a gaming machine.

the Ps1 played CDs but I don't think anyone cared about that. However, ever since the Ps2 had the DVD playing feature, consoles in general should always be seen as entertainment centers, but for gaming at their cores. which is what the xbone is, but most people didn't really see that because of all of its stupidass policies at the time.

but the Ps4 is pretty much all about games, and that's it. yeah it's got the better hardware, and that's pretty much for now the only unbiased reason I'm still keeping mine. well if i do make an exchange it won't be anytime soon. (I say unbiased because i also love my playstation games)

the Ps3 came with blu ray, the 360 came with just the dvd player, so that's another reason why to me the Ps3 was the best console of choice last gen. And the Ps3 also proved that a bad start doesn't mean you're out of the game, either. let's see what happens in the last 2 months of 2014.

if you love your playstation games, then I'd hold onto your PS4.

and yeah, one reason why I used my PS3 more than my 360 is because I found it to be a better, all purpose media machine.

which is ironic now, because the roles have reversed with the X1 and PS4.

obviously, I haven't put any gaming time in with my X1, so I can't comment on that part of the experience yet.

but I do see myself using my X1 more going forward.

well, i'm not completely opposed to trying out the other platform, you know. all the times i've ever played halo, i never really enjoyed it or saw what all the hype was about, to me it was just your typical futuristic fps. i have respected for being one of the most iconic gaming franchises tho. but with the mcc, if i got it, and played through it, maybe i would finally and really see halo for what it('s legacy) truly is.

after all, 70% of games are multiplatform anyway. i wouldn't be missing out on much quantity on playstation but i sure as hell would be missing out on quality.

ah, I see.

but how does not having Kinect cause the noise problem?? that seems odd.

From one site:

The consensus is that the noise is a coil whine which occurs when a lower level of power is being drawn from the console.

Users report that plugging in a Kinect sensor alleviates the noise (since the console is then drawing extra power for the device).

It also explains the recent number of people reporting the issue in recent weeks - the fact that some Xbox One consoles have this problem is being highlighted as a result of Kinect-less consoles going on sale.

Although mine sounds more like an old hard drive.

I actually sold my PS4 for 350... Allowed me to et Sunset, CoD, Halo, ACU and DAI.. Plus have some left over. Maybe I'll get s other one when Uncharted bundle comes out.. Until then.. No big loss for me.
