"The bits that are on that disc, you can give it to your friend and they can install it on an Xbox One," he said. "They would then have to purchase the right to play that game through Xbox Live."

I want meet the guy who thought this would be a cool idea.....

Kinectimals
Kinect Sports
Kinect Adventures
Kinect Joy Ride
Dance Central
and 2 random XBLA titles
That would be great news as it'd reduce the odds of all of the other new franchises being Kinect & XBLA. I want 3 new retail AAA exclusives. Don't know how much chance there is of that but Black Tusk were supposed to be working on quite a few themselves.

Yeah, I'm not sold on this either...the presentation was good...but the actual...facts regarding the console...I don't need Tivo with DRM.

I remember trying to sell a PC game to gamestop about year ago and they said they couldn't because of registration codes....seems like their business model now is screwed...

See guys it's not always online. But you have to be online to register every new game and you have to be online every 24 hours.

call me old-fashioned, but I remember the days when you stuck a game cartridge or cd into a console and you could just play the game.....and have fun........and not have to worry about all this other ****.

I'm with you. I just want to play games. I have TV to watch TV, I have movies so I can watch movies. I have a computer for everything else. I own game consoles for games.

Yup I buy GAME consoles to play video GAMES (well and thanks to PS3 watch Blu-Rays).

So I missed the bit about MS and EA partnership, is EA sports an Xbox exclusive now or something?

Largely, yes. I mean all the extra media stuff is cool, but only as extras. It's not something I find critical and won't influence my decision to buy a $500 console.

Damage control?

Reports of Xbox One's online requirements and used-game fees are no more than "potential scenarios" and not concrete details, Microsoft told Polygon via email.

"While Phil [Harrison] discussed many potential scenarios around games on Xbox One, today we have only confirmed that we designed Xbox One to enable our customers to trade in and resell games at retail," Microsoft told Polygon.
Initial news from Wired stated that those with second-hand or used games would be required to pay a small fee before being able to play.

Additionally, Kotaku spoke with vice president Phil Harrison during today's event, where Harrison told the publication that users would need to connect to the internet every day. Microsoft could not confirm these details.

"There have been reports of a specific time period — those were discussions of potential scenarios, but we have not confirmed any details today, nor will we be," Microsoft said.

Microsoft said earlier today that Xbox One would not require an always on internet connection. The statement is echoed on Microsoft's Q&A page, which says that the Xbox One does require a connection, but does not always have to be connected.

"We're designing Xbox One to be your all-in-one entertainment system that is connected to the cloud and always ready," the post reads. "We are also designing it so you can play games and watch Blu-ray movies and live TV if you lose your connection."

You can follow along with all of today's news though our Xbox One StoryStream.

I mean, I don't mind being able to watch DVDs or Blu-rays, or storing music or video files on my console and enjoying them through my tv.

but, I buy a GAME console to play GAMES. I can't play games on my DVD/Blu-Ray player. I prefer to play games with a controller on my TV, not on my PC.

the games should come 1st, all this other stuff is extraneous.

and now it seems we as the consumers are losing control over how we can use our consoles. it feels like we are being dictated by the console maker (MS) on how we can use the console. Kinect has to always be on ( which is bordering on creepy and invasive ). we have to connect online once a day. we can't play used games without paying a fee, etc.

I'll be honest: I'm a total Xbox fanboy, but if they go with this whole fee for used games and always online nonsense I'll be going Ps4.

No some reporters said that was kinda odd how they tried to make it "look" like they were exclusive to them, but far from it. The EA guy afterward was like: "No". Same with the COD thing: "With COD we have EXCLUSIVE.....DLC and stuff.

I'm just joining the Xbox One discussion, but all of my this. I'm not an Xbox fanboy though, I like all the systems and some of their exclusives, etc. But yeah, none of this system looks good to me.

ah, ok.

Can't see EA or CoD ever going exclusive on the actual game.
