My father told me he saw Superman 3 in a crowded theatre when it opened in 1983 and everyone walked out discussing things along the lines of "WTF Was that" LOL..
Me too. I was only 4 when my dad took me to see the first Superman movie (he bought me a program at the movie theater, which I have since lost), and I thought the movie was amazing. And I love the original Superman II...I was 6, and I remember all of the kids in our row cheered at, "General, would you care to step outside?"
After that, it all went downhill. Superman is long overdue for a good film.
I agree here. It's not knock on that style though. It just isn't my preference. I want a superhero movie that takes itself seriously. The comics have been doing it for decades.
Though it is nice to have some of the Marvel movies for a change of pace.
surprisingly enough, the first movie i was ever taken to was Superman III, and i watch it for the flying and the sentimental value since it was my father who got me interested into Superman with that movie
Eh. I have my moments.I see what you did there.
Well it's way more serious than Avengers, but there are a few chuckle worthy quips.
@NoTrip: It's nothing like the two movies you listed in terms of humor.

Superman 3 would have been received much better if they had went with Ilya Salkind's pitch involving Brainiac.![]()

And if the bad guy's computer didn't use sounds from the Atari 2600 Pac-Man game.![]()

Also if didn't try to kill Superman by looking at a video game screen.![]()
Goyer cannot write comedy at all anyways, I wonder if WB catches on and brings someone in to help in that department for JLA and MOS2.
I remember being on line for some other movie at a theater where Superman IV was playing, and nobody was going in to see it. It just made me so sad.

Village VoiceStephanie Zacharek 60 Man of Steel, There's Greatness in the Superman Origin Story You'll believe a man can fly -- and is mostly worth watching. It’s a relief just to watch the actors act once in a while, and thankfully, Snyder is astute enough to punch some breathing holes in this steel-clad colossus. This Man of Steel is still faster than a speeding bullet and more powerful than a locomotive. But even more miraculously, he humanizes the gargantuan movie around him. It’s his Kryptonite, and still, he defies it.
I was 14 when SM IV came out and I remember hoping that it would restore the magic of the first two films after the disappointment of SM III. I think the night before SM IV came out I was watching Siskel and Ebert on the Tonight show and they were saying that it was not a good sign that the film had not been screened for critics so I knew this was not good. Then the film came out and I heard how atrocious it was. It was really sad. I had seen SM: The Movie, SM II, and SM III the first week they had arrived in theaters and with SM IV I did not even bother to check it out. A few years later I caught it on television and it was worse than I could have ever imagined.
