I don't get why people keep going "but this critic gave X movie this rating?"

Critics rate films on an individual basis regardless of genre or what film series it's part of.
Agreed, even though I've seen some few horrible exceptions.

For example a review of the pilot of Game of Thrones, where the author basically said nothing about the episode and just explained why the fantasy genre sucks.

Man....no offense to Snyder and Goyer, I think they're both talented but I couldn't help but to feel a little bit of concern with those two handling the franchise and Nolan not having that much, if any, involvement. I mean Snyder doesn't have THAT good of a track record(when it comes to critics anyway, I loved watchmen) and Goyer is more of a hit or miss type of guy. Just kind of wish the reboot was in the hands of a more......reassuring combination of people.
:hehe: See, now it's "all of Snyder's fault, while Nolan wasn't really involved", when it seriously felt like the opposite leading up to it.

Roeper is someone I almost always agree with and he really likes Comic book movies.. He loved Begins, TDK and TDKR he also really enjoyed all 3 Iron Man movies.. The fact that he did not like MOS is a concern.. This is the first time I am worried..

I was worried about his review too, until I figured it out. He latched on to the idea that he didn't want to see another superman origin film and that completely polluted his review. His review is in no way indicative of the quality of MoS. As long as you're OK with seeing Supes origin again, you will like MoS.

I would've expected more from Roeper. Is there any critic out there who can review a film objectively, in a way that has the fans/GA in mind? Or are all reviews affected by their personal prejudices and preferences? For example, I don't like the LOTR films. However, my reviews of them would be very positive because I can recognize and acknowledge that they are excellent films, just not excellent to me.

^ I'm actually more critical of Goyer. As for Nolan, he comes across as a strong filmmaker, but not one who really revels in the genre.

I feel that Nolan's better at handling scripts, while Snyder's better at handling spectacle. I just wanted a Batman Begins-quality script. :/

From what I just read, he thought Snyder is talented, and he even used Watchmen as an example of why he is.

Oh, I did not read that as I only skimmed through his review, but his review of Watchmen in 2009 was negative. :whatever:

I was eagerly anticipating some action after about an hour and a half of character development. Both of the major action sequences are saved for the last 45 minutes of the movie, and when it does cut loose, it's not one fight transitioning right into another. There's plenty of character moments mixed in.
Then I guess the logical conclusion is that Roeper didn't think that the parts with character development worked well. I was just repeating what he said, I have no opinion until I've seen it myself.

He was saying that maybe it didn't need to spend as much time and detail on it, and instead focus more on other parts. /shrug

I actually like the idea of Krypton being more fleshed out. But opinions are opinions. Im sure im going to enjoy it :yay:

Well, SR got pretty solid reviews.

I know that, but after all the hoopla about nothing going on in the movie it would be hilarious if a new Superman movie that is full of action ends up getting worse reviews.

What is all this lack of character development talk? This is Clark's story is it not? I certainly don't believe he was not developed in MOS.. Who was a well flushed out character in Begins other than Bruce as we followed him around on his journey to become Batman as we should since it's his story? All I know about Rachel is she used to date Bruce and is a DA that looks 15 years old.. Ra's Aghul muttered something about the league of shadows and Gotham needs to die in the first 30 min and then disappeared until the last 30 min.. Was he a flushed out character??

Another positive review on RT. Hrm. Up to 71% we go.

It'll go back down trust me. I mean we just found out one of the most respected critics out there gave it a 2/5 and his review isn't on RT yet.

Although BB is good it didn't draw a lot of GA to see it this is why the BO isn't all that good. I have a feeling MOS is the film GA will love.

I can do math, thanks. Why are you so intent on being negative? It's a little weird. Chill, dude.

Its all a conspiracy anyways!.. word on the street is Bryan Singer paid "certain" critics to give the film a negative review.. you know.. in order for it to not look as good next to His superman masterpiece... the bunch are all laughing it up drinking Ale as they watch us scramble like eggs in a frying pan.. :meanie:

I was just offering a contrasting opinion to what was quoted from Roeper. Both me and my friend that attended really bought into the story and the development of Krypton. And when the action did arrive, on a scale never seen in a Superman film, it was glorious.
