TMOS Reviews Thread - Non Spoiler Review and Discussion - Part 3

Bad reviews are guaranteed to hurt box office if a film strikes the right appeal. The Transformers franchise proved that unfortunately. :o

I'm a fan of Ror from CBM, and this is what he had to say.

"I enjoyed Man Of Steel so much that I was tempted to award it full marks, but although it may be a 5-star spectacle, it's not quite a 5-star movie. Still, not everything has to be! Snyder has delivered a gorgeous looking/sounding, engrossing first chapter in DC's shared cinematic universe, and a damn fine Superman movie. Oh, and the very last scene? Approaching perfection."

4.5/5

I honestly think griping about a movie having anything less than a perfect score is like seeing an insanely hot chick and being all "I'd **** her, but she's got that little mole on her thigh....can't do it, bro."

This entire thread has lost it's damn mind. What is happening? The Rotten Tomato score is below 80% and everybody flips out and thinks it's the end of the world and that movie is terrible? Jesus.

Also, for those throwing in the towel: stop. Wait till you actually SEE the movie before coming to a decision. Be individuals. Form your own opinions.

Quote me then, I dare you. Quote me, screenshot it, pin it, I don't care. I'm never wrong. I've seen some s*** dude.

Ok we'll i've seen a lot of petty first world s***, but it was bad trust me. I know how these things work. I'm so sure of it that you can quote this too. I predict the movie will end up between 55 - 69%.

Watch, I guarantee it.

You're never wrong, how arrogant can you be.

Your just a troll!

I remember Captain America beginning around 70%, but it ended up at 79%. There is no predictability to this. When the consensus pops up we'll have a better idea, but there's not enough for that right now. Plus, average review is still 7.6.

This is my first time witnessing the panic and I am not a fan. It's a movie kids...get over it. The sequel's already green lit. That shows confidence in WB.

It's below 70% and sinking faster than the Titanic... almost every review coming up is a rotten now... last 9 out of 17 are rotten..

People are flipping out because we're worried about the box office intake which will affect if we get more of these movies.....

You misunderstand me. I don't care where this movie ends up on the Tomatometer. You're acting like this movie is already a guaranteed failure in the eyes of the general public and a bomb, completely ignoring the fact that some critically panned movies (such as the Transformers sequels) have made a killing at the box office and continue to spawn more sequels.

You could very well be ultimately right, I just think it's kind of ridiculous to make such bold predictions without having even see the film yourself. As it stands you come off more as a troll that's doing a caricature of a panicked fan on SHH!

Hmm.... :hmm

There's one or two trolls around, I can't believe this panic especially as there's been way way more positive reviews.

Dude it just fell below 70%.

And btw the whole "Reviews are meaningless only YOU can judge it" argument is such BS. Yes ultimately reviews don't reflect your enjoyment of the film, but when it comes to the big picture, YES reviews do matter. They matter a lot.

THIS X1,000,000,000! That's what I said. I'm moving my attention to something else, like, you know, my own viewing in two days(!!!!:woot:)

The sequels a go, just sit back and enjoy this people. Critics nit-pick and this will get negatives. There's hundreds to be tallied for the overall consensus.

In through the nose, out the mouth.....

Don't even go there.

And? Will that affect the way you feel about the film? Way to prove my point: that most posters here have gone insane.

Guys, look: tracking is through the roof for this film. I've seen it. It's amazing. The general public is going to love love LOVE it. If any movie is going to be "THE" summer 2013 film with legs, it's Man of Steel.

Sorry, what do you mean by tracking?

How did they react when you watched it?

Depends... if more and more... and more.. and more... people thinks it sucks.. chances are it'll suck... so, yes, if that happens... if it hovers above 70%, maybe not as much...

To say that reviews are totally non-factor is just nonsense...

Some say that the positive reviews mostly come in first and then it is downhill from there. I have no idea if this is true or not. I don't know why it would pan out that way. I mean doesn't RT just take the reviews as soon as the reviewer writes it up? Is there a conspiracy at work? I don't know. I also thought that most reviews were released on Friday regardless of whether they were positive or negative. Maybe someone else could shed some light on it. :whatever:

I have a serious question for those who are panicking, do you honestly care so much what the critics think that you will let it:

A) ruin your own enjoyment if the movie, and
B) honestly think these negative reviews matter? And when it's got so many more positive reviews.

It's ridiculous.

The hilarious thing are the fans that are acting like the bad score on RT means the movie isn't going to do well at the BO.

Nobody should care if this doesn't break records at the BO...they already announced they are in fact making a sequel. You'll get a second man of steel film even if this movie does terrible at the BO.

Moles are sexy.. as long as they don't have a long hairs growing out of them.
