If Man of Steel can't go into the 80's again then the range for the final score will be between 68% - 78% IMO.
I'm shooting for lower honestly. I'm predicting 55 - 69%.

I just wish more here would believe this and not let other reviews bother them.Excellent words.![]()
Well I realize this isn't what everyone had hoped but it is what it is. I normally agree with Roeper, and usually breath a sigh of relief when he gives a positive review. Now I disagreed with him on Captain America, so there's always hope. However what I'm more worried about is that what he wrote in his review is what I feared about the film going in. This film not only seemed like it was Rebooting Superman, but rebooting Superman 1 and 2. I never liked that Zod was chosen as the villain, I'd hoped that they'd go the Batman Begins route and have a villain that hadn't been previously used and focused more on Clark, and less on the villain, but instead Goyer, Snyder, Nolan, or whoever decided it was more important to go into the backstory of Zod and flesh him out. Honestly I could care less about Zod, there are way better Superman villains.
Now I haven't seen the film, so it's not fair for me to write a moratorium until I've seen it myself. But I am concerned for the negativity. But when so many people prop this stuff up like it's Cecil B. Demille's 10 Commandments, I have to put on the brakes and let people know this is a story about a guy who runs around in tights.
People act as though hundreds are counted. There's only 41, LAWLS. Keep it in perspective. After the release, I expect the GA will have a massive say in how this movie is perceived other than petty critics who want nothing more to Superman than rescuing kittens from trees.

I just can't really see it rising much at this point?
TBH, scores usually start out pretty high and drop off. Let's hope the UK reviewers and bloggers like this film![]()
I signed up just to comment on this post. Choosing Zod is a Batman Begins route. Ras Al Ghul part in BB was that he was involved in the inception of Bruce's crime fightinh career. Thus creating an early history with Batman that will haunt Batman later.
In MOS, Zod is from Superman's home planet. Zod has a history with the house of El. Zod's involvement brings Krypton to Earth. I dont another character would help involve Superman confront in conflict with his Kryptonian heritage.
People complain about Zod reappearing again. But no one complains about the Joker appearing in every type of media for Batman. Batman 89, BTAS, TDK, the Arkhams etc.
My 2 cents.

t:Superman Returns >>>>>>> Man of Steel.
"Man of Steel" is the worst thing to happen to Superman since the post-resurrection mullet of the 90's.
I cannot stress this enough - if you love drama-less fist-fights between invincible characters, you're in luck: that's half of Man of Steel.
Took my mother too see IM3 yesterday (she really liked it). Totally forgot about the embargo until last night.Honestly. I haven't read a single review, and haven't been checking RT. I went out and saw Star Trek again instead.
And the talk on here hasn't made me any less excited to see it. I got a free Superman comic at B&N today, I'm going to re-watch Superman I-II (and maybe Returns) this week. I'm all set.t:
t:People expect the Joker, and other than an easter egg at the end of Begins, he was not involved there.
Ra's and Scarecrow had not been used in a previous Batman film, which made it very original, and allowed the story to focus on Bruce.
Zod had been done before, so as I said, you're not just remaking Superman, you're remaking Superman 1 and 2.
Gabe Toro (RT critic) hates it: @GabeTheShogun
I'm beginning to realize that all these criticisms in the negative reviews are making me more excited to see it.
Not campy and bright like Donnerverse. Blasphemy!
Too Much Action! Too Serious! Too Dark!
Awesome! This is exaclty the movie I was hoping for!
I'm shocked Roeper was so harsh on it. His biggest criticism of it basically seemed to be that it was retelling the origin.
I still have a feeling this will divide critics way more than it divides the fanbase. Particularly the older critics. This is Superman for a new generation.
