I like a realistic and more SERIOUS take on the characters and that's why I prefer DC to Marvel

In the comic book realm, it's the exact opposite. Marvel strives to be real and relatable, DC strives to be mythic. Funny, huh?

Lol. I just had to check that for myself, that both movies are 7/10 and their ratings percents differing that much just does not make any sense to me either. Probably when we keep the 7/10 but add in lots and lots more of reviews (to get the same number of reviews) it's an 81% or above too? I think it's just a matter of how many reviews are actually counted rather than percentage at this point due to that THIS IS THE END and MAN OF STEEL observation now.

Hey guys and girls I just found something interesting.

Someone on IMDB did some research on a lot of comic books films and what their ratings were on Rottentomatoes when they were between 25-40 reviews. Basically the same point as MoS is now. So he compared the RT score of those first reviews to the film's final score on RT. Here are the samples he provided:

Dark Knight Rises - 91 to 87
batman begins - 85 to 85
iron man - 86 to 93
iron man 2 - 74 to 73
Iron man 3 - 89 - 78
avengers - 96 to 92
hulk 2 - 75 to 67
watchmen - 76 to 64
300 - 65 to 60

Basically with the exception of Iron Man, Iron Man 2 and BB, they all went down. The only movie that managed to increase over time was Iron Man. I can't say it's looking too good on the MoS front with a 69% after 42 reviews. I'd hope for an increase, but I wouldn't expect it. But there you go, I thought you guys would find this interesting.

I laughed at the pencil trick, his nurse getup, his reaction to the hospital explosion, him trying to shoot the armored truck with Dent, laughing as he's about to fall to his death just to be save by Batman. It's dark humor for sure, but you can't say it's not there. The Joker doesn't have to have the flower on his coat squirt water in some guy's eye in order to be funny.

Slaughter is the best medicine. I lost it.

It still blows my mind that my mother got the Galaga joke.

Which is exactly my point, and this is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. The ignorant, dismissive criticism about the humor in Avengers is provably untrue; it's one of those things that's become an oft-repeated platitude that people just regurgitate without giving it any thought.

Case in point:

'It's cheesy/campy'
'It's a kid's movie'
'It's all about action'

Yup, won't get much higher than 70 -72 but could really dip into the low to mid 60's.

Totally agree. Didn't catch it until the second viewing, too. Always nice to see nuanced tidbits like this in films.

TDKR was at 83% after 41 reviews and 81% after 43 reviews. You can check it by going to RT and looking at when they added the reviews. It somehow managed to go up to 87% after that, which is crazy. Normally they do keep dropping, as your list shows. Star Trek 2's comeback was pretty remarkable too. After only 18 reviews it was under 80% and somehow managed to end up at 87%.

I was too but I recalled he didn't like SR either. MOS tried to be the anti SR so maybe outside of STM and Superman 2 he is just not feeling Superman..

No, Ropper gave SR a thumbs up, it was Ebert who gave SR a Thumbs down. I remember watching that episode of "Ebert and Ropper" very clearly. Ebert said SR was boring, barely any action and that Brandon Routh lacked the carisma of Chris Reeve. I really wonder what Ebert would have said about MOS. Sad he's gone.

Very ironic indeed, which is what I love about comic-books as well. It gives it a nice and fresh alternative to the characters in how things are written. When I read a Superman comic, I get full-fulfillment in any campy or ridiculous sci-fy mystic moments the pages create. I expect that, though DC is moving in a way more serious direction in how the characters are portrayed in the new52. More stern, more edgy.

On screen, we've had all the campiness a Superman film can get, and it works. We all loved the Reeve/Donner-era and to most people, those interpretations made people the fans they truly would become.

Now when it comes to the big screen for my favorite Superhero, I want different. I want to feel different. Though many comic-aspects are there on screen, I want a serious take on things and I'm getting it with MOS.

It just boggles my mind though that MOS has a freaking lower score on RT than the last two Fast and Furious films.

I was at one of those 'original' IMAX theaters that only has the one screen. Their MOS poster was already under the "NOW SHOWING" banner. Almost did a double-take when I first saw that today.

When we finished Avengers, he took his Captain America shield and gave me his Iron Man glove, and we had to go room-to-room looking for bad guys. I love this kid.

Every time you mention your nephew, his legend grows. The kid sound so terrific. Heck, that he gave you the Iron Man glove and kept Cap shield makes me like him even more.

And your theater is a tease. "NOW SHOWING".

I expect that, though DC is moving in a way more serious direction in how the characters are portrayed in the new52. More stern, more edgy.

But is it the best direction? The best Superman stories have always been out there and over the top to me. The best example being of course, All Star Supes.

It was known long in advance that the pro critics don't have a predilection to Zach Snyder films. I'm in that boat as well, but I'm willing to give him another shot after his previous films given the material.

Will be seeing this on Monday.

All that matters is what you think of it after you see it yourself.

THAT is what I'm thinking will happen. I mean, I can just not fathom what's going on.

The last two movies have actually been pretty decent. I wouldn't mind seeing Justin Lin tackle a DC hero.

FWIW, Iron Man was at 95% after 40 reviews. Not sure what that guy was looking at. It had two early negatives but those were out of the way after 13 reviews. Then it went on a run of around 50 positives in a row.
