TMOS Reviews Thread - Non Spoiler Review and Discussion - Part 3

Lol. I just had to check that for myself, that both movies are 7/10 and their ratings percents differing that much just does not make any sense to me either. Probably when we keep the 7/10 but add in lots and lots more of reviews (to get the same number of reviews) it's an 81% or above too?
I think it might be an indicator that some went into this movie with their expectations too high. I mean for both films to have the same average rating but have their 'fresh' rating be off by 12 percentage points, it's a bit jarring.

But is it the best direction? The best Superman stories have always been out there and over the top to me. The best example being of course, All Star Supes.
I think what makes All Star Supes is it embraced the insanity, while not dismissing the gravity of it all.

Exactly. Sort of like Morrison's current run on Bats starting with "The Black Glove".

Completely utter bonkers, yet so amazing. Can you imagine Morrison's Batman on the big screen? I can't I fear anybody other than Grant will screw it up.

We all loved the Reeve/Donner-era and to most people, those interpretations made people the fans they truly would become.
I still love the Donnerverse and openly welcome the SnyderNolanGoyerverse...:)

So who is getting slapped?

Which is exactly my point, and this is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. The ignorant, dismissive criticism about the humor in Avengers is provably untrue; it's one of those things that's become an oft-repeated platitude that people just regurgitate without giving it any thought.

Case in point:

'It's cheesy/campy'
'It's a kid's movie'
'It's all about action'
It is easier to use generalization then to actually explain one's self.

69%. Isn't it time we set up some sort of Hype suicide watch?

Every time you mention your nephew, his legend grows. The kid sound so terrific. Heck, that he gave you the Iron Man glove and kept Cap shield makes me like him even more. :word:

He's a great kid. He loves Captain America. But he was Iron Man for Halloween last year. Actually, in his five Halloweens, he's been superheroes for 3 of them: Superman, Spider-Man, and Iron Man.

And your theater is a tease. "NOW SHOWING".

Seriously.

Critics thinks this is 65% or worse..

I am telling you they are nutty...

I'm not saying you can't have an All-Star script or what-not. That would be BA. Hell, it's a givin fact that Zack Snyder and Goyer took lines and sequences RIGHT OUT OF THE COMIC BOOKS themselves. When it comes to Supes, there's simply NO pleasing everyone. It's why he's the king-daddy. People simply expect this and that from him judging from different interpretations and if you change it up, it won't work for them.

The critics loved SR. The same ones aren't loving MOS. The GA hated SR but seem to love MOS on the surface thus far. I'm in the GA-camp. I'm going to love this version of Supes regardless of the critical reviews.

Also, I think people are jumping the gun WAY too early because to my understanding, NONE of us have seen it. I just hate for critics to get into the head of people who haven't even seen it yet and probably will LOVE IT. We'll see when the release hits....

Just showed a commercial during the NBA Finals with a bunch of positive reviews attached to it.

Grant is my favorite comic book writer these days. His Batman run might be my favorite run of anything mainstream in the comic world. His All Star Superman is my favorite comic story.

And I honestly can't imagine his Batman on the big screen, and part of me doesn't want to. It is the perfect material for an incredible DCA series.

Absolutely :yay: Being a diehard Supes fan, I love it ALL. Though most people won't welcome a change in scenery for the Supes character and its those people that MOS will hurt from although I think MOS will gain a TON of new fans....

I'll be surprised if this isn't at least a winner with the general audience.

Have you not taught him the rules of fandom? You aren't allowed to enjoy all that the world of comics, film and television have to offer. He has to make a choice and dislike everything else. It isn't Cap, and Superman, and Spider-Man and Iron Man. It is or. :woot:

And it is really awesome to hear about a little one that loves Cap.

Seriously.
