I personally think it is going to be at least a lot of fun. But if I approach it as fact that it will be, how exactly am I to be honest on how I feel about the film?

I think it's going to be a fun action movie. I will enjoy it, I know. What's strange about the reviews is that they all contradict each other: some say it's too much action; others say it's too earnest and character-obsessed.

I just think critics nowadays just want comedy and giggles. They are missing the point.

Oh believe me I'm totally aware of that. I was one of SR staunch defenders when it came out. Defended it for months that it was this great film because I went into it believing s.

But finally when I thought about it and was really honest, I had to admit that I thought it sucked. I've only seen it twice and that's including the one time in the theater.

I'm definitely going to go in feeling its going to be great. But once that "fanboy" high calms down, then ill see where I stand.

I thought some really important scenes were either left out, rushed or not given enough build up.

A movie should suck you in from beginning to end or at least suck you in at the important parts. Snyder had a lot of time to watch this over and over and see which scenes could have been improved. It was so close to greatness in parts.

I liked it,but some folks are not going to dig it. I was with 8 people and 6 of them didn't like it. Me and another were kind of meh.
It's not the phantom menace! It's just not a masterpiece.

Faoras was awesome.
6 out of 8 don't like it. and the 2 kinda meh!!!??? that's very bad!!!
but... u r a willing superfan. ur review could be flaw. :P haha

Reaction has not really been that negative even though I would have liked if it sat at 80%. Still think it's early to be so worried.

It's not getting Green Lantern level hate, and it seems like the general audience could still love it. Lots of people go to see these movies purely for the action and purely for the character so there are different entertainment factors. I say only worry if it performs poorly in the BO.

Well said. The hype alone is going to cloud my vision and I'm going to be on cloud 9 just seeing the visual epic-ness (I hate using the word epic) this is claimed to be.

I planned on seeing SR multiple times in theaters. Never happened. This time, I am going to go see my second viewing of MOS alone after the fanboy dies down and come to a complete decision as to if it lived up or not.

Like I said, I'm not going to change my gut feeling going in, which I expect to love it. It's up to the film to decide the end result in multiple viewings and let it sit for a couple once it cools off.

All people see aspects of a film differently. You never know how someone is going to interpret something.

You just typed 4 of them, haha:woot:

What I'm saying, is right now, my high expectations still remain and I expect to love this because I'm simply a diehard Superman fan. I'll flat out accept the fact and own the fact if I walk out bummed like I was Returns. You must own it afterwards but right now, my expectations haven't changed. Their high and I expect to love it judging from the pieces of the movie I've already seen.
You said it was fact that you know you will like this. Come on, don't try and change your words now.

When you type in the name of the movie in google look at RT star rating.
So far man of steel is getting 3.5/5 stars
Rating:
71% - 31 reviews

Meaning so far it seem to be a very good film.
Not great but very good and close to great.

This may change by the end of the week or weeks later.

I think the problem here is some are just wanting the story to be great and surpassing the first two or returns, and well it may not surpass the first two it still has a chance of surpassing superman returns.

For me the movie does not need to be great, just good to very good, and at the end of the day i could still enjoy it more then a higher rated movie that the critics gave a higher score to on average.

Once i see it it still could be great to me,because in the end my views count the most.At least the action seem to be the best so far from what i am reading in any superhero movie and the movie audience will love it more then the critics.

Let's hope it makes more money then superman returns.

So relax to some extent folks, this movie is still seen has a very good film.

Here are rating of movies i just seen when i type in the name of the movie, from RT AND THE OTHER MOVIE FORUM.TRY IT AND YOU SEE.

I thought green lantern to me was a 2.5/5 to 3./5 star movie, but when i seen the extended cut it was to me a clearly a 3/5 star movie.

Some of you guys are just like the some of critics and are lead by the nose. Some boards and critics agree with my view of green lantern and some don't.
In the end you are the main critic.

For an five star rating system.
BELOW TWO stars is bad
2 STARS means so-so
2.5 stars means good
Three stars mean very good
Four stars means great
Five star means excellent

Its good that she liked it cause she's normally quite critical of any films.

Especially films of this ilk, I'm actually pleasantly surprised by her positive review.

Here is something about the 4 star rating system.

The Best Movie Review Rating System

There are Too Many Rating Systems When it Comes to Movies

When looking across movie sites and critics sites, you can see many different rating systems. Some have 4 stars, some have 5, some are out of 10 and some are just a thumbs up and a thumbs down. This lens takes a look at the best system, and why it is the best.

The 4 Full Star Rating is the Best Movie Review Rating System

It is more accurate and is more psychological

Lets go over the most popular movie star ratings. The most popular is "5 stars." It seems the most logical, right? I mean, it is half of ten so that would make sense. But, typically there are no half stars so really it is out of 5. Well, 3 would be right in the middle of 5, but if you equate that to percentage it equals 60%. How can 60% be right in the middle? Many people also believe a 3 out of 5 star movie to be a good movie. So you are telling me that a movie that only scores a 60% is a good movie? That doesn't make any sense. Any thing you choose on a 5 star system (even if there are half stars) must equate to 10 and there for a %. So a 2 out of 5 is a 40% - why so drastic in ratings?

The 5 star ratings sister is 5 stars with half stars. This system is virtually pointless. It is a 10 star system. Psychology begins to play a role in the 5 star with half stars formula. A 4.5 star movie seems really really good - like almost perfect, but on a 10 star rating (which is actually what this is) 9 out of 10 just seems like a pretty damn good movie, not near perfect. Also, when rating movie that gets 2.5 stars - seems like it is almost a good movie, when in reality, it is only 50% - which is obviously not a good film. The Psychology pages to big a role in the rating system to be considered good.

The 10 star system is the second best system. It allows members to choose every movie based on a percentage. It is typically an accurate percentage. But, its main problem is the psychology in things. With so many apprarent choices, it makes it difficult to rate a movie bad. A 5 out of 10 almost sounds like a bad movie when in fact is is just average.

4 Star Rating System with half stars: The reason this is the best is because it limits your choices, allows you to pick an actual average, and is psychologically sound. A 3 star movie is considered a good movie. When you put this in percentage, it still holds up as it is 75% (or randed up 80%) which in college courses is considered a B. The same applies on down the chain. Obviously, a 2 out of 4 is average (as that is 50%). Many may complain that is it is not accurate because there are only 8 choices - but eight makes it less confusing and more mathematical. As far as a recent movie review website with the ability to create movie lists using the 4 star formula, I recommend filmcrave.com.

I think you're forgetting that the tomatometer isn't a measure of quality, ala the 5 star system.

It's the number of positive vs negative reviews.

So no, 26% =/= 1.5/5 Stars.

The average rating was 4.6/10.
And yes, that's still bad. (a fail, in most school systems).

also, 2.5/5 is average/mediocre, not good.

So relax to some extent folks, this movie is still seen has a very good film.

By the length and effort put into those two posts, I'd say that you're probably the one who needs to relax :p

Dude, I haven't seen the film yet. It's obviously not a FACT. Basically just expressing my excitement levels.

I'm just typing as my emotions are taking me. Release date is one damn day away. As I said, I expect to love Man of Steel and judging from ALL the footage I've seen, it's as closest to a FACT as I can predict.

That's not to say the possibility remains that it could letdown and not live up. Again dude, I'm not changing my expectations. I expect to love this and my expectations are so high that I've claimed I'll like MOS as a fact. I stick by my statement but as I said, if I'm letdown, I'll clearly own it. Not too hard to understand.:word:

I just came back from seeing the film and here are my non-spoiler tips for adjusting expectations accordingly.

1. This is a very fast paced, non linear film with a passive character in the first hour, so don't expect to be completely swept into a storyline right away.

2. This is truly an origin story (almost prequel). Don't expect anything like Superman '78.

3. This is a fairly serious, heavy, and VERY SCI-FI movie. This is not a city, metropolis, light hero film in the least. It's very sci fi, other worldly, and on the humorless side.

me experienced the same for SR. n i watched it 7 times in the cinemas. and i have never watched it since.

i will give it 10/10 if Cavill manage to convince me he is the man of steel.

STM is a movie with lot of flaws too. but Christopher Reeve was exceptional excellent. he managed to make people believe in him and forget the flaws...

Great. Thanks for the overview, it's as I expected.

Where do you stand?

Where do you stand?

After first viewing...I'm inclined to give it an 8/10. But my gut is saying it'll become a 7/10 with time. I feel for Zack and David on wanting to get so much in, but I think telling too many stories hurt the film overall more than helped it. I think it tried to take on too much. It almost felt like they combined a Krypton movie with a Superman movie if you can believe that without saying "but Krypton is part of Superman!!!" On the other hand, I do think I'll enjoy it (just pure fun wise) more the second time because usually non-linear films are better digested as wholes then rewatched. You get more out of each scene if you know where it's all headed usually in non-linear I find. I'll be curious to hear what everyone else thinks, but I'm certainly not at all shocked by a 70% rotten tomatoes. I don't think this film is nearly as wide audience as it needs to be to shatter box office expectations.

Believe me i am relaxed but you have not.
RT AVERAGE RATING SCORE has green lantern at 1.5/5 so i said it was considered bad,but i don't.

IMDb on the other hand was closer to my view-3/5 stars.

A 2.5/4 to me in the past always meant good, but the 5 star system that seems to not be case or it that may have change over the years.

5 star is still kinda of recent so i am still not has use that system.
I would think that 2.5/5 would mean so-so or maybe still good but just a weaker form of good, but that's from my point of view.

I should have add average rating, that's why the star system has man of steel so far at 3.5./5
Man of steel
Average rating 7.1/10

Went on twitter for the first time in 2 days and man, what an entire different world the feeds seem to live in. Nothing but wide-spread praise for Man of Steel with people going on and on about how great it is. Many celebrities chiming in as well. You would have never thought that viewing this thread and then going over on twitter to see social media beaming for MOS that you'd be reading about the same movie.

Another thing critics really do not like on average is SCI-FI and fantasy. They nitpick those genres the most, and even more so if it does not have comedy in it and when has it alot of action.

I read somer reviews that this movie had some very funny scenes and wasnt as humorless as people might think. Are there no funny scenese?

Not sure I'd put my stock in Twitter after how positive TASM reactions were. I like the film to an extent, but it didn't deserve the praise it got on Twitter.
