I'm going to do myself a favor and not be my own critic. I'm not going to worry about pacing. I'm not going to worry about flaws. I'm not going to worry about a too serious film or if it's not humorous enough. I'm not going to worry about character development either.

I'm going to simply WATCH and enjoy the movie I've so been obsessionally waiting for, for a long, long time and love the hell out of it. Not going to critique, just.....watch. You guys who are being persuaded into not enjoying it already fueled by other opinions is hard to watch. For the people who saw it, positive and some negative, fine. But I can't sit here any longer and watch people who haven't seen it claim death. Not happening.

I'll be on this site non-stop and check in as much as I do now, but the next time I post will be my initial reactions Thursday night! I hope you all enjoy and not try to out-critic the person sitting next to you. TEAM SUPERMAN!

Director's Cut or Extended Cut? I believe every ZS film has both a theatrical and DC.

I think either Deborah or Zack himself said the cut we see in the theater is his directors cut. I believe I read somewhere only 1 scene was cut from the movie

Most critics arent saying Reeve is better. they are just comparing the Donner movie to Snyders visuals. Cavill brought a different touch to the character. A for sure more physical and isolated character who isnt accepted by the world. Reeve played the goofy likeable guy who was a clumsy fool as Clark and a liked and accepted Superman who was all over Lois. MOS builds on the Lois and Clark relationship kind of how the show did. It doesnt just have them all googly eyed and smitten over each other. Donners Superman felt more like a love story with some action here and there much like SR where he was stalking love sick superman. I feel Cavill is more like the comic book character.

And it's your right to have that opinion. Just like it's the right of others to state that STM showed the character and his relationship with Lois better (to them). Doesn't mean either opinion is wrong.

It is odd that you already seem to know you will enjoy the film.

It is odd that you already seem to know you will enjoy the film.

Ironically that's the outlook that causes people to bash on reviewers who didn't like the movies they are most excited about. If you're predisposed to love a movie regardless of its enjoy-ability then you'll automatically shun anyone who has seen it and found it lacking.

If that's the case then the most you could look forward to in an extended cut with the one extra scene. Director's Cuts exist to change the pacing, theme or characterization of a movie not just add bits of new footage.

I wonder what that scene is.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the release date for MOS delayed until from December to June so they could have more time to polish up the CGI?

Y'all's are amazing. You'll criticize the critics, you'll criticize other superman movies, you'll criticize other superman actors...all because yer so defensive over a movie you haven't seen. Yer self consciousness is showing.

It is odd that you already seem to know you will enjoy the film.

I was heavily disappointed with Superman Returns. Some great moments of nostalgia, but to my surprise, that wore off VERY quickly. Superman Returns let me down to no-end. I was sick of nostalgia and put the Donner-verse behind me and let it breathe as the classic movie it will forever be.

Even before the reboot was announced, I've spent a LOT of time talking about the Superman I've always envisioned and how I would want it to look.

I've seen clips from Man of Steel, as we all have at this point in time. I get goosebumps and chills seeing Superman evolve into the character I've pounded my fist on the table years ago as to how I wanted a new franchise to be.

After years of forums, debates, waits and up to this point as I type these words, I'm getting everything I asked for a fan and I know for a fact I'll go into this knowing I'll like it. It's a pretty good feeling but tough at the same time seeing others influenced just because something bad was said.

All that bad doesn't change the fact for me. This visual is going to be gorgeous and everything I've seen through TV spots and trailers alike is something I've envisioned for a long time.

I believe the moved it so as not to compete with The Hobbit. Plus they needed another summer movie to go along with Pacific Rim. It's been set for summer 2013 release for at least a year and a half. Could be wrong though.

That's not the point. I could care less if they think Reeve is the ideal Superman, more power to them. But don't try and match future Supermen up to Reeve's standards, because you will never give them (and the movie) a chance to show you what it can do.

Agree!

I have no words.

I think they for sure left our a flashback scene of the Kents holding baby Kal-EL. They have shown movie stills for it but I heard that scene isnt in it. that isnt the major scene they left out though

I don't pay any types of attention to critics nor do I get mad at these people. They are simply doing their jobs and whatever consensus they come up with is interesting to me because I'm always going to be interested in what others say or think about something I've waited for.

I seriously cannot be mad or upset for one claiming MOS to be negative because the reasons for the negatives that I've read are the reasons me personally would find positive.

Positive or negative review from a critic certainly doesn't change the pace of excitement I have for this film.

If you would go back, I said that for the people who saw the movie and who gave it a neg or positive review, fine. But it's the people that WERE excited beforehand that are now bummed before even watching it themselves.

Be bummed walking out as I was with Superman Returns and OWN that feeling because you were truly bummed, not because of another influence before you even see the movie itself.

Like I said, I don't pay attention to any of these critics. I'm most worried about the consensus of the general audiences.

Look this movie isnt about Lois and Clarks relationship. This is about him and his journey to becoming who we know him to be. Why should she and him all of a sudden have this romance? Cant they explore that more in MOS2? I think they touch on it in this movie but for people to complain and nit pick over something like is ponderous and it sounds like they are stuck in 1978 where evidently its cool to have aliens who can fly and shoot fricking lazer beams from their eyes and get hired at a newspaper with no journalism background and fall head over heels with someone who doesnt even like you but likes the secret you

I have no words.

I'm kind of in the same boat in that this far there is nothing that has been released that I haven't enjoyed or loved.

Not to say I'm going in immediately liking it but, from what I've seen and know so far, it's going to take a lot for me to not like it.

I have no words.

You just typed 4 of them, haha:woot:

What I'm saying, is right now, my high expectations still remain and I expect to love this because I'm simply a diehard Superman fan. I'll flat out accept the fact and own the fact if I walk out bummed like I was Returns. You must own it afterwards but right now, my expectations haven't changed. Their high and I expect to love it judging from the pieces of the movie I've already seen.

I really don't understand the point you're trying to make. People can't like one portrayal of the character over another? Everyone has their preference. Doesn't mean they are wrong.

Can a MOD please ban this guy? 4 posts on his resume, and an obvious troll who is not contributing to any constructive conversation.

I actually posted a legitimate question in the soundtrack thread if you'd be so kind to check that out. :woot:

I personally think it is going to be at least a lot of fun. But if I approach it as fact that it will be, how exactly am I to be honest on how I feel about the film?

Exactly what I'm trying to get at. I just think it's silly to be excited, hyped and love everything about the UNBELIEVABLE T.V spots and bonus trailers alike, but claim to be bummed over the stuff you haven't even seen yet and take other's word for it.

As I said, I'm only judging by what I've wanted personally as a Superman fan years ago and matching that up with the footage I've seen at length thus far. If that's the case, I will LOVE this film and expect to. These reviews, positive and negative, won't change my personal gut feeling.

There's always room for letdown. I should know, Superman Returns was that for me but never did the peak of my excitement reach Man of Steel levels. Regardless of plot holes and stupid critic nit-picks, this movie looks breathtaking!
