The Hobbit got only 65%, I don't think many would consider Fast & Furious 6 (72%) as the better movie, but whatever.

Only people who think Fast and Furious is suppose to be some serious movie and come in expecting something they won't get. It delivers on exactly what is promised. It's great.

A lot of the negative reviews seem to bash the movie because it lacks humor, and according to some, doesnt "get" Superman? Like Donner's Superman is a reference....

Wow, the reviews are just making me more intrigued about this film. I think Snyder is a respectable visual director but I've never felt he's great with actors. And Goyer is great structuring stories but not with dialogues.

The only reassuring thing that I keep hearing is that the movie lacks of humor, which to me is all good news as I find most of superhero movies' humor is crap.

Stop acting like i'm the only one upset and has made more than one post about being upset. I'm not here to please you slimshady247 so if it really bothers you THAT much, put me on ignore. Problem solved.

Oh I'm upsted too, we're all upset
but you're on a WHOLE NEW level of negativity, and you haven't even watched the film! at least I'm waiting to watch it in a few hours

Us against the world, guys. I hope by tomorrow night, this depressing feeling is going to turn the tides in how we all feel about Superman back on the big screen. Don't let this get you down. It's still our time and the mass's are going to favor this in a positive light. Interested how tomorrow night is going to go with all of us when we actually see it with our own eyes. I'm not worried.

Yeah, I'm watching it tonight, I really hope I like and enjoy it, if most of us here do and it gets great BO numbers we're gonna get all that positivism back like we used to.

Please stop telling me to calm down, you seem to think i'm breathing heavier than Miles Dyson trying to hold the trigger to the bomb in Terminator 2. I'm merely giving my thoughts on the situation, and I don't need to see the movie at this point to know i'm gonna be disappointed. Because pacing and story is important to me, and reading all the criticisms of the story in full detail is enough to convince me that this movie is pretty rough around the edges.

So, if all of the critics told you to jump off the Brooklyn Bridge...?

Just see the movie...you'll never know what works and what didn't until you actually see the movie for yourself. Seems silly to skip it just based on the reviews.

This is such a profoundly stupid thing to say, I'm actually astounded. What part of "wait and see" do you not understand? Are you not able to formulate your own opinions? Watch the damn film first and see how it pans out. You aren't necessarily going to agree with all the complaints.

Yes I am able to form my own opinions. But you don't know my taste in movies. I do. Even a lot of the positive reviews are saying it's lacking in story. So we know there's a problem there. And I just said a good story is important to me.

You already facepalmed at me when I said the RT rating would fall below 70%, and guess what? It happened. Sorry but I trust my opinion over yours.

Not humor, but levity. I've yet to see someone ask for camp or hilarity. But when it comes to comic book films you need a few, well placed bits of humor to balance out the severity of the story. The darker the story, the more you need. It's a delicate balance. Nolan's Batman movies did it very well for the most part. Watchmen, for example, failed at it.

You have a serious problem. Like, I can't even believe someone could be this stupid about this.

I have to say that this might be one of the most grand wastes of talent I've seen in a movie. Waste of good actors, waste of a great composer, waste of great visuals and cgi, waste waste waste. It really seems like the blame is going to David Goyer for not knowing how to write a proper script here.

So you hated it?

I think I need to leave this thread, it's becoming ridiculous. "I haven't seen the move but I know I'm going to be disappointed"

How about you climb down off the ledge and chill a little? The movie isn't even out yet.

I got the impression that Snyder has directed some of the most intriguing and bold performances this "genre" has seen.

i can care less about RT scores, there are too many glowing reviews out there from actual superman fans to buy that its bad. Even the negative reviews seem to highlight stuff im actually happy about, lack of humor(good!), less of a love story (hell yes!), too focused on superman/clark (thank you god!), too serious (about time!)

I think Zack is at fault too, but it seems mostly that Goyer missed the mark on this one.

First of all, we're all talking hypothetically as we haven't seen the movie.

Christopher Nolan has directed Batman begins on a script by David S. Goyer, and that worked out pretty well! Granted, he rewrote it, yet if you read Goyer's draft it's pretty similar to the end result. Nolan changed some of the dialogue, switched some scenes and flashbacks around; in the end, he made the Goyer's script work better on screen.

It's a director's job to look at a script and to make it a successful movie. Now, Goyer's work here is probably at fault, but the man in charge, and who ultimately is calling the shots and determine how everything works out on screen is Zack Snyder.

A script is just a blueprint. A director can shorten scenes, switch them around, add dialogue, remove dialogue, just as he sees fit. A keen eye for storytelling and characters will do miracles. Editing can, aswell. Every decision a director makes influences the transition from paper to screen. People, especially nerds on the Internet, tend to oversimplify things: it's not just "hey, this is the script, now take a camera and film it. Done." That's not how filmmaking works. ;) Even a solid script can get bogged down in the filmmaking process. And no, it doesn't need heavy studio interference and constant drama during production for that to happen. Simple miscalculations by the director and/or a faulty approach to the material will do that.

I can't seem to imagine how opinions/critics views of this movie are so all over the board.

Either this review is way off, or this movie will be the at the top of my CBM list: http://****************.com/movies/man-steel-review/

Is this guy on WB's payroll? Is he "way off" in his review? If I take this review on MoS, it'll be near the best movies ever made.

THERE MAY BE SPOILERS - READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Agreed. But some people hate that because they feel Batman would never in a million years retire, he would be beating criminals over the head as an old man with his cane. :argh: It's funny how they don't see how much of a sad life that is, being Batman, and I guess they don't want him to ultimately be happy. <shrugs shoulders>

I am of the thought he should never achieve retirement in the terms he did in TDKR (happily with his girl at a relatively young age sipping Italian coffee forever after). And no, I shouldn't necessarily feel that a happy ending is a must for Batman. I much rather see Miller's B:TDKR or Batman Beyond Batman's final days.

Correcto. These movies can't be devoid of humor unless your the black nail polish and eyeliner wearing type. ;)

Well, I very much enjoyed "300" and "Watchmen" and I think the acting in both were good. Not "the most" of anything this or any genre has ever seen though.

Wow... some people takes these review as if it's life or death... It's only a few more days. Go see it when it opens and if you like it you can spread the word. If you don't no one can help you...

Man of Steel does have those moments. I laughed just as many times as I did during any of Nolan's Batman movies.
