Yeah I've heard Crowe's role is quite large, some have even said he stole the movie.

Well it's good to see they got the reporter aspect right :cwink:. Still though her tracking down Superman is a tally very faithful to the comics.

I do honestly think that if we get a sequel that this film might be more fondly looked back on when we can see a larger picture.

Oh, the "Lois Lane investigative reporter" angle works fine for me. Just wanted to know a bit more about her. Then again, what did we know about Margot Kidder's Lois Lane? Oh right, she loved freshly squeezed orange juice. :)

Added a few lines about the expansion of Jor-El in the film, with a brief comparison of Brando and Crowe.

Yeah, I know right ? :woot:

I was thinking maybe Critics don't.

Nah, most critics are semi-savvy when it comes to pop culture stuff like this. They know, hence the shared comment that Lois feels underdeveloped.

Didn't stop people from hating Transformers.

Critics for sure hated TF but fans didnt. All 3 movies made bank and if people hated it so bad it would not have had the legs it did. I liked TF for what it was....a movie about robots tearing it up. I didnt expect it to be a oscar worthy movie in the acting department

In the sequel (and there will be a sequel, because no matter what the pro critics say, no matter what the RT % is, this thing is going to be HUGE!) I hope the romance between Lois and Clark is done in a slow burn fashion. Let's get to see them as close friends first that are inevitably heading towards love.

I'm with the critics on those movies. Especially the second I felt was stupid and pointless, where there was just tons of action that didn't mean anything. It's not about having Oscar worthy acting, it's about writing the movie so the action actually matters.

So I definitely wouldn't praise the GA more than the critics as they certainly can eat up the movie equivalent of McDonald's. Both can be "wrong" compared to my views.

It'll finish closer to Green Lantern than Batman Begins.

It will in no way be close to GL. this movie doesnt have the negative vibe GL did. In fact most reviewers who have negative feed back actually scored the film as good but were upset at certain parts. I like what Joe Comicbook said about too many people going in to this with visions of 1978 in their head and not wanting to accept this isnt Donners movie. If they would be more open to a new version and different take then you would see a much happier group

TF movies are midnless fun at the movies. Nothing more and nothing less. It had humor and heart at times. TF2 might be the most disliked but 1 and 3 were pretty good. I would say Avengers has better acting because of RDJ but Avengers isnt much different than TF.

60% on RT right now. This is it.

I feel like Jack and Rose as they hang on to the bow of the Titanic as it's plunging into the depths of the Atlantic.

:woot: No way this is staying above 60%. It's been on a steady decline since they started posting reviews. I keep seeing that gif in my head of the screen capture of the man of steel rotten tomatoes page showing a rotten score.

On the Spidey boards TASM is pretty polarizing among fans and got a lukewarm reception from critics with some strong negative reactions when comparing it to RAIMI and Co.'s work. Still, TASM2 is filming now and has got a great cast. We were all hoping for MOS to be BATMAN BEGINS for Supes, but putting aside any feelings about TASM itself that you might have would you be disappointed if MOS legacy was closer to it than BB?

A MOS sequel has already been given the greenlight with Snyder and Goyer returning. Most of the criticism, my review included, stems with the pacing and character development. But the acting is outstanding from almost everyone in the film and the general public will be blown away by the spectacle. You could slightly compare the excessive amount of action to a Tranformers film but that's where the comparisons stop. To go any further would be like comparing Young Frankenstein to Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Both are popular within their genre but one pushes boundaries and reinvents a story while the other is the lowest of low and unaware of how awful it is.

*starts to sing*

Nearer my god to thee....

Relax, people, relax... It's not as bad as it looks.

Welcome to the rotten table Man of Steel, you'll find a seat between Green Lantern and Catwoman.

I don't think you need to make it a smart movie just because you make the action count. But to each their own, I'm not forced to watch them.

I'd definitely disagree with you on the comparison with Avengers though. I think Avengers is better acted on all fronts, the characters are far better established, and the writing is far better on all accounts. It's a subjective matter but I still think it's quite clear why the movie was a hit with both audience and critics. Not mindless fun, quality fun. The latter being what I'm hoping for in the action in MOS as well.

Thing Avengers has that TF doesn't is heart.

If I went into this movie thinking, I cant wait to see the same old Superman I saw when I was child and that I sure hope Cavill acts just like Reeve, I would be disappointed to. But I dont and I didnt when BB came out. I didnt go into thinking Keaton was better and that Nolans BB would be like Burtons. I accept change and I look forward to it. Its good to have variety. I do always want a sappy love story Superman like Donner gave us. I feel that Snyder adds this to his movie but critics just cant give it time to develop. they wanted it all in one movie rather than letting it play out.

I am just saying that most people didnt need to think much to enjoy the either film. TF 1 and 3 were quality fun. Avengers characters had previous movies to establish them but if they didnt most people are aware of who the main characters are.

Count me as one of the few that doesn't see that much of a difference between Avengers and Transformers. Of course Avengers has the advantage of solo movies to develop it's characters so it doesn't have to do it itself.

60% overall.. and at this point, both Top Critics and Regular Critics match up at 60%...

Oh well... time to accept that RT will be rotten...

Won't stop it from making tons of money (but will affect it's legs for sure and it's total take)... sad...
