Anyone here insulting The Avengers should probably get off these forums forever. As far as comic book movies go, it was near perfection. Get a grip on this fanboy Marvel vs DC crap. Also, Transformers movies are for children and the mentally challenged. Awful and insulting

I could care less about Marvel vs. DC. A quick peek at my Top 10 CB characters would tell you that.

Personally, I enjoyed the buildup to the ending (character interactions) far more enjoyable than the final battle.

People just like or dislike different things. To insinuate that I should leave because I didn't soil my pants over the final battle is ridiculous.

I won't even point out the irony in you yelling about someone not liking TA while outright calling into question the intelligence level and mental faculties of someone who may have enjoyed Transformers.

Different tastes man. I find it highly overrated. I prefer the first Iron Man by a mile. Nothing to do with Marvel vs. DC.

Ya I didn't see any Marvel vs DC. I was merely comparing visual effects really.I enjoyed both films though I'm with you with thinking Avengers might of been a little overrated. However Marvel did a great job of creating fans out of regular move goers and getting people excited about an ensemble that many people couldn't care less about a few years ago.

However it's hard to really say which film is the greatest cause recent films obviously know better how to cater to todays audience. To truly see the impact you would need to go back in time and see the affect films like Superman The Movie, Batman 89, Spiderman, and TDK had on their audience. Of course a modern film seems better than a film made in the 70's with a man hanging from a wire.

I thought TA was good, but the best comic book movie of all time? No way, not to me at least. It has its own flavor that makes it enjoyable, but its not typically the flavor I look for in movies. I actually much preferred say Thor, Iron Man and even Captain America to just TA.

I really think The Avengers, like it or not, was a such a feat. This whole Marvel Phase One was an incredible set-up, that I'm shocked that they pulled through.

Were all the movies perfect? No, but it's all admirable due to the sheer ambition. But I think, hopefully, Phase 2 will hit it's stride. For example, Thor 2 looks like a huge update from the TV-movie looking first film.

Bringing in the director of Game of Thrones was one of the smartest moves they ever made.

Thor was slightly underrated, while Captain America was slightly overrated.
Iron Man 3's fairly assessed ;)

Agree. Loved Thor, Captain America for me was just ok at best. The best thing for me about CA was the fact that they explained the Power-square thingy that was at the end credits in Thor. :)

Oh yeah, I respect The Avengers for striking such a chord in people. Whedon obviously did something right there, I'm not so close-minded that I can't acknowledge that. It could have been a total disaster, but he Frankenstein'd an entertaining movie with all these disparate characters. Overall it just wasn't really my cup of tea, that's all. I happen to believe there have been higher standards set in the genre by plenty of other films, such as all the ones you just mentioned.

Oh my I have stumbled in the avengers thread and there I was looking for the Man of steel TMOS Reviews Thread - Non Spoiler Review and Discussion. Lets get back to hating those pesky critics and their "opinions" guys.

Fair enough, sir!

Something about "yay people who love it!" and "boo people who don't!".

Back on track then? :woot:

Funny, the teaser for Thor 2 looks much more TV-esque to me, especially the Asgard scenes. Totally looks GoT-ish, which is not a good thing when we're talking cinema.

^ The fight scenes in TA are fun, but that's pretty much it. You aren't afraid for the civilians, you aren't afraid for the heroes. It's pretty much a live action cartoon near the climax.

Keep trying to tell that to those silly people complaining about the realism.

Well, I guess I know what you're saying. They're using the Alexa Arri and perhaps they should've played a bit more with the grain and resolution. Look at Oblivion for example; digital camera and it looks film-like. I think what you're saying is that there's too much clarity in the images. Which may work on TV but with movies, the DoP needs to rethink their approach.

I agree with "Theflamingcoco". With the Avengers, no one is scared for the humans or earth at any point in the movie, it's not to be taken serious. Why I loved Batman so much, is the seriousness behind it, there were actual emotions towards Gotham and the population, and it felt if Batman didn't do something about it that humanity would suffer the consequences.

As much as I love the Avengers, I still regard it as a kiddy movie, while I look much more serious at the DC movies as far as Batman, and most likely MOS, as a more adult oriented movie. I much more prefer the more adult aspect then the kiddy, and this is the reason I am sooo glued on MOS. Can't wait till next Thursday, have 8 people going with me, and on Saturday I have another 8 going with me! :)

I'm glad we live in a world where we can simultaneously have a complex and thought-provoking film like TDK as well as a movie like Avengers that is just unabashed, right-off-the-comic-pages fun. As for MOS, if this new gem proves to deliver on both of these fronts, then we're certainly in for a treat. Here's hoping..

I enjoyed both Avengers and DKR, but I wasn't particularly scared for the humans in Gotham. They were barely even present throughout most the movie.

Understand what you are saying, my point is TDK and TDKR were much more serious movie's then that of the Avengers, or any other Marval film.

It was highly overrated. I thought the film was ok upon first watch, but I just find it terribly boring now. I just don't believe a single moment of it. Looks so fake and cheap. There's something really bland about the look of the film.

I'm not a DC or Marvel fanboy.

Zack Snyder had no slow-motion action shots in #ManOfSteel but with all the frantic action, it really could've use some.

Too much Avengers talk. The film has its own section if you want to discuss it. Move back to MOS...

Thank you. I came to this thread to read non-spoilery type reviews. I did not expect to see so much non-thread related discussions going on.

With that said, I am wetting my pants left and right after reading reviews for Man of Steel. All of the twitter comments on the movie itself are nice to read. I haven't read one full negative review yet but, I'm sure they're coming or atleast there is one out there. We could have 500 great reviews but that one BAD one will always stand out, lol.

I'm worried about the pro critics.

Tweeters seemed awed mostly by action.

But it takes more than that to win over many critics.

FINALLLY.Someone sees what I see!:yay:
The guys on the Thor forum were slamming me for having this opinion
