@LouisVanAmstel @dexterxdexter @Sherry_1013 @nikkizeglen Saw a special screening of Superman: Man of Steel! Great movie! Lots of action!
Frank Miller @FrankInStereo
Still processing my thoughts on Man of Steel. My first reaction was "I want to see that again." Take that as a good sign.
Is that THE Frank Miller?
It's kind of curious. Part of me thinks, hmm SR was so boring that they almost went over the top in the action in MOS to compensate and let people know, hey Supes can actually be spectacular. Then part of me thinks, hmm we can't just have mindless action bang em up blow em up, let's tackle the bigger issue, first contact, what it means to be human, etc etc. Can't wait to see it for myself.
Is that THE Frank Miller?
I thought the fights in BB worked because he is basically a ninja.
The chase scene in TDK is one of my favorite action scenes.
Exactly. Right now reports seem to be pretty 50/50 on the action/story, but of course there is still the embargo, so we'll have to see. But I think at this point as long as it's a Superman story I've wanted to see for years, I can deal with a 60/40 swing (and maybe even a bit more) in either direction.
But that - of course - is why I just have to wait and see![]()
Well, moving on.Matthew Fong
@matthewfong
I didn't know Superman was Captain Planet
I asked him, he said he was disappointed in the movie
I want a 50 percent story,20 percent drama/emotions, 30 percent action ratio.![]()
If the action is too over-the top in Man of Steel, they probably looked at the reaction to the CGI/GREEN screen NYC battle at the end of Avengers. I remember everyone was like OMG!! CGI HULK!!! EXPLOSIONS!!! BEST MOVIE EVA!!!
Of course, the Hulk vs Loki bit was probably the best thing in the movie...even if it was stupid.
I would also have no beef with that, as long as they make the 30% really count
It's tough to break up really. I want action, I want story, I want to care, I want to know the characters, I want to know what's going on, so forth and so on.
Heck just give me 20% of each and I'll make it workt:
I want Superman to save one part of the world, only to realise that another part is in danger,
Ok I am tired and going to sleep. we know the consensus tonight has been overwhelmingly good
Now we wait for critics
This is very much Peace On Earth, which just so happens to be my favorite Superman story ever.
