The Dark Knight Rises Tom Hardy as Bane IX

Sure, but the reality of it is you can't get somebody who is BANE-SIZED in real life to fit the bill. Nolan isn't going to cast a WWE guy just because he "looks" the part and sacrifice all of the acting talent that truly drives the story.

We might still get lucky and get a couple segments of an injected-CGI-Bane but that's going to be the extent of it outside of camera angles.
Why not? Im sure there are actors who can attain the physique of a wrestler/bodybuilder and still be able to act very well. Acting and body stature are not mututally exclusive qualities; they can exist in the same individual.

What is the point then?

Present it this way for debates sake -

Problem:
Proposed solution:
Point: It would be nice if Bane was bigger in this movie. He's not, but it would be cool if he was the same size as that guy in the gif. He's not saying he wants a less talented actor to play Bane, just to meet the aesthetic criteria, he just wishes that we could get both. Sadly, we don't.

I know it's probably an unpopular opinion...But id honestly rather have somebody with a body like that..and have a good actor do a voice.
Because of the mask,Hardy will definitely have to deliver most of his performance through a voice over anyway.
And his mouth is covered.
Same thing pretty much...

Yeah not even close.

Well, Dwayne Johnson is at least trying. He just got himself a serious role for once (a biopic).

No, I'm trying to recruit Dwayne. Just saying...

The last thing I want is a professional wrestler who can't act his way out of a paper bag.

But Tom Hardy isn't just smaller than Bane, he's smaller than Christian Bale. He's below average height.

There might not be hundreds of great Bane-sized actors running around, but surely there are some who are taller than Hardy.

So your proposed solution was null, as expected, which makes the "Banesizers" sound like nothing but whiners.

Not to mention you have no confirmation as to how he'll be presented on screen yet. All you have to work with are spy pictures that a ninja took. You have no story arc, no plot details, and very very limited footage to go bye to judge his screen presence - which might I add he looks massive in.

Massive? He's smaller than Batman.

In the trailer? You really think so?

Because that's what I'm referring to. That's the only credible footage out there to make any sort of ridiculous still-year-away-from-release judgement off of.

You have a very distorted view of what is massive then. Tom Hardy is shorter than Christian Bale. The set pictures that popped up today prove that (despite Hardy's best attempt to bulk up) he's just not the size Bane should be.

As far as the two second footage in the teaser, you're arguing that Bane is huge based on a camera angle shot from behind toward Batman who is standing 10 feet or so away...

That's just your opinion. Look at the first promo shot, Bale was not that big in Begins.

Proposed solution? What are you talking about? Hardy has already been cast, there is no going back. We know what he looks like: bottom line. We were just sharing opinions, not trying to make any kind of executive decisions.

No. You are too quick to jump the gun based off of images recorded on somebody's camera phone.

Base your opinion off of the 2.5 seconds of official footage available. That's what I'm referring to.

Even then, it's an incredibly stupid idea to make any judgements this early into production.

Yes, Tom Hardy is physically about an inch shorter than Christian Bale.

It's also snowing in Pittsburgh in August.

The fact that Bane isn't a hulking brute (though they can definitely make him look larger), actually has me a bit excited/intrigued about how they will portray him as a fighter. I expect that he will be fully capable of whooping Batman, so I am wondering "how" he does it. Does he have super strength? He may not constantly inject venom, but maybe it was just one exposure to a venom-like drug that has enhanced his abilities. Similar to the Bond villain in The World is Not Enough, who, after being shot in the head, was incapable of feeling pain.

I really, really hate to criticize something before the movie comes out....but that pic of Batman and Bane fighting is pretty jarring to me. Batman looks more physically imposing than Bane does, and that's just something I can't get past thinking is wrong.

Omg

Everything looks awesome, but why didn't they just make Bane's stunt double much taller than Hardy/Bale?

BUT you're basing this on spy pics.

Hardy's double is at least two inches bigger, and he's also wearing boots. Now add this with camera angles and trickery and you've got a big bad mofo.

If he's involved with the League of Shadows, as the set pics seem to indicate, I'd assume he's a very skilled fighter like Bruce and Ra's.

Are you familiar with Bane's character at all? I'm not trying to be rude but Bane is not Batman's size. Bane does not look Batman in the eye. He doesn't look up to him. He's not slimmer than Batman. He is a physical presence that looks down on Batman.

Nolan has dismissed two very important aspects of Bane's character and I just cannot wrap my head around it. It's a problem when Batman looks more of a threat than Bane does. (Like the set picture today suggests.)

I don't have to.

You clearly don't know what acting is.
1.An expected response.
Similar arguments can by found on a playground.
Person one:I can bench 500 pounds!
Person two:Show me then.
Person One:I don't have to!

2.Explain to me what acting is then.
You're obviously an expert on the matter.
So enlighten me and everybody else!

Please stop. You're making it too easy for them to understand.

lol! Like I said.
Unpopular opinion is unpopular.
*Shrug*

It's really the only way I can think of to have a appropriately sized bane in live action.
The camera trickery works. But the illusion will be hard to maintain.
Especially with alot of fighting

And I don't think computer wizardry is good enough for such A thing yet.
When it is..Then THAT would be the better choice.

Are you familiar with the first two Batman movies by Nolan? This is not a comic book, its Nolan's universe. This will not be some ridiculously big monster. Its the same people that were complaining about Heath's look, with the scars and the makeup, I heard not just on the internet, "that's not the joker". Nolan got the best actor possible and this is how he sees Bane, so its fine.
