The Dark Knight Rises Tom Hardy as Bane IX

That's one thing WB can/would stop Nolan from doing.

I'm sure he has a ton of creative freedom for the exception of delivering an ending like that.

I think he looks Bane-ish here in front view. Don't think the coat will be in his main look though.

I like the way Bane looks. I think his mask is a clever way of referencing his comic book mask without just being a plain luchador mask. The rest of Bane's costume was just a black leotard so it doesn't matter that it looks different, as long as the sleeveless look is maintained (when he ditches the coat)

The most important part is that he looks big. If that is not done, then this is not Bane. Period. No matter how great Hardy's performance is, if he is not noticeably bigger than Batman, then he is playing a different character.

Fortunately, I don't think Nolan is that stupid, and it looks like he is wearing some pretty hefty boots there so everything seems fine.

I think he looks great.

I know what they are filming is in the "Winter" but damn that Coat has to be hot as hell. And judging from the video of the "Speech" he was up there a while.

Also it looks like when he's bending over that he's laughing. That would be my guess.

Killing Batman will not happen. Not only is it poor writing, but it breaks the "happy ending" rule. It just doesn't make any sense.

Its Nolan, and batman, who says it has to end with a happy ending? Most Nolan movies have a protagonist or main character die at the end. (Momento) (insomnia) (the prestige) (dark knight, dent). Why not kill him off?

I cant understand why it would be bad writing? I think it would be bold, exciting and most of all, memorable. It would be the most memorable ending to any super hero franchise ever made!!!! Because no one has the balls to kill off a major hero with a chance at losing money. Because your essentially ending a franchise.

I think Nolan and Co. are the only ones with the balls to do it. And the way Nolan keeps saying that they are ending a story make me feel as if hes talking about Bruce Wayne's story. But the story of Gotham can still continue if another team take on the challenge. (maybe? idk).

This is what I would have preferred and you could still have had the whole eye contact thing.

Again, for everyone who's complaining about fans wanting the Luchador mask. Something like above could have worked. Maintaining the faithful Bane look without making him look like a wrestler.

I don't see why so many people are complaining about Bane's trenchcoat. It's supposed to be early winter and thus chilly. Would make no sense for even one such as Bane to be running around in a singlet. As we've seen from the trailer, the coat comes off. :yay:

And since when has size been an issue with Hollywood? If it was, Elijah Wood would've never been as tiny as Frodo, and Rodrigo Santoro would've not towered over Gerard Butler as the mighty Xerxes. I'm fairly confident Hardy will be the exact size Nolan wants him to be at the end of the production.

Just got in the house.

I've missed a lot. Bane looks great.

That looks more like Black Mask than Bane.

That coat made that whole scene :D It has to be a military one right? I'm gonna go down to the Army Surpluss-store and look for it!

I like the look of Banes costume, looks pretty cool. Not sold on the mask however, I don't hate it just not don't fully like it at the moment.

Can't wait to see how his guantlet administers venom.

I think that Bane here looks like he belongs in the Nolanverse. Period. I am not sure how I feel about the fact that Bane isn't much taller than Batman but we have to remain in the Nolanverse here and live with the fact his world doesn't have stupidly massive and bulky Banes. I think Hardys' Bane will be intelligent, intimidating and a physical match for Batman. That's cool with me.

Visually, Bane looks very distinct from his comic book counterpart. But, taken on its own merits, he's a visually striking villain. And I wouldn't be surprised if this is once again a case of Nolan altering the surface details of a character, while keeping true to their thematic core. In Bane's case, the idea of him being the "anti-Batman", improving his body and mind from childhood like Bruce Wayne, but doing so to achieve the opposite of what Batman strives for.

Let's see how Nolan handles the mass/height thing. He may make him appear taller than Batman.

Yeah I think this is how its going to go down. I think Bane is going to be the Anti Batman of the Nolan Franchise which is what he was originally intended to be in the comics: the evil Doc Savage to Batman's The Shadow. This is probably the reason for the LOS and Ra's Al Ghul's involvement and the inclusion of a well in Bane's origin. To create this idea that Bane and Batman are parallel images to one another starting in different places with different circumstances but taking the same path and ending in wildly different ways (i.e Batman being a good guy, Bane being a bad guy).

I understand why people would be worried by his appearance. He is very different to comic book bane visually. If I went back in time and showed this picture to you guys ten years ago and asked you all who you thought it was, I'm guessing most of you wouldn't have a clue. But since its an adaption I am fine with changes (as long as they aren't ******ed or betray the core ideals of a character or the adapted piece as a whole). A comic book is a comic book and a movie is a movie. I'm not saying everything should change but there should be no stopping a filmmaker from interpreting the character a different way.

On the height thing, well I don't see any reason why Nolan wouldn't want to make Bane bigger as its a main part of his character that he is physically stronger than Batman and his appearance should reflect that. The only reason I can see against a larger Bane is that if Nolan is really interested in the whole Anti Batman thing then it would make more sense thematically from that angle to have Bane and Batman be the same size, as mirror images so to speak.

I was gone for about a week and I check the forum today and s**t has gone crazy!

Bane looks brilliant though. That coat is awesome! I want one!

This is my favourite photo from the new set pics! Hilarious! :funny:

I want Bane to have a real English gentleman's voice...

''Hello Batman, how do you do?''
