The Dark Knight Rises Tom Hardy as Bane IX

The Joker argument is a tired argument that holds no weight in this...

So is the 'Bane should be more like in the comics(e.g. bigger/taller)' argument by this point. This entire discussion is somewhat tired and going in circles by now. The only "constructive" thing that's being achieved right now is people seemingly finding new ways of insulting each other over the internet. And some of the people who like what they've seen so far of Nolan's Bane have admitted that this version of the character looks almost nothing like the comic-book version anyway.

Bottom line is this...we're continually making judgments based on spy pics and not the finished product, and I think that when it comes to a movie this is a very important aspect to keep in mind when making these kinds of judgments. There's also the fact that Nolan's universe is rather drastically different from the one in the comics, as the previous two movies have established.

Agreed! And now that's definitely Tom.

I've said it before but TDKR Bane is one of the most badass looking movie-villains I've seen. Big and bulky, with a trench-coat and a creepy mask. <3

It is only the cowl that makes Batman taller in these pics. If this is Hardy and not his stuntman then he is wearing some pretty hefty lifts.

In the pic i was talking about, where they are standing face to face(i edited in a link to it, here it is again
http://www.aintitcool.com/node/50629 )

it is pretty clear that Batman's head height is slightly above Bane's.
Ok, if you want to say that there is an inch of rubber or whatever in the mask, then that would make them about the same height, or still make Batman taller.
I don't see the big deal over arguing who is taller, when there is not much in it anyway.

Based on that kick, I like that Bane clearly is not some lumbering oaf.

Bane's scar kind of reminds me of "The Stalker" from Batman Beyond. After an injury his spine is replaced by a cybernetic one (after excruciating surgery), which gives him heightened physical abilities.

I wouldn't be surprised if the scar was truly the key to Bane's power. It seems like there should be some reason for Bane having it...

Good eyes there.

I knew the scar seemed somewhat familiar the first time I spotted it in the spy pics.

Eh, the size criticism will disappear, much like the Joker facepaint critics after the film is released to rave reviews and blockbuster success. The majority of people won't have a problem with it in the least bit. It's just a few comic book purists and nerds that want a literal translation from comic book to film. Nothing wrong with that. They just don't get that Nolan doesn't do that. But if they can just accept it (and not judge based off some unoffical spy pics) and give the movie a chance, the film will probably be outstanding.

Someday after Nolan there will be probably be another director that will do a near literal comic to screen adaptation of Batman, and it may or may not be good.

Could they be using a stunt double for Hardy during the fight scenes to make him look bigger and only utilize Hardy for the "acting" scenes? I sure hope not, because in mu opinion actors bring a lot of character into the fights.

more than likely since both hardy and his double have been spotted during the fight !

Well in the pic that Whiplash posted it is definitely Hardy and in others it's not. I'd say in the movie it's gonna be a mix of both.

Exactly. If one mainstream critic review even mentions Bane's height, I will go to see the film dressed as Burt Ward Robin. Much like The Joker being permawhite or not was only of consequence to us in the geek community, Bane's height is going to have zero impact on the success of the film for most people.

is that, Josh Stewart (from, no ordinary family) next to him....?

I remember hearing rumor of him having a role in the movie, but, don't remember hearing who he'd be...

I honestly don't think they're gonna CGI "enhance" Bane's physique.

I'd put money down on that.

These pics make me so psyched. I love Bane's look. I like the League of Shadows army, the big massive fight going on. Looks like Bane has his own Tumbler too and that can't lead to anything but pure badassery. This movie is going to be epic.

in that spoiled off pic of bane and co...i could've sworn that black dude who looks like 50 cent was in begins as one of the l.o.s. unless i'm just thinking of gamble like an idiot.

I do, and I have said over and over how I know Tom will be a great Bane and I trust Nolan will make him appear tall, but IF he's not, it'll be disappointing. And easily entertained? You didn't think Tobey was fantastic Spidey? I can say the same thing about you. Seeing as how you were easily entertained by Andrew's Spidey from the teaser, I'm sure you'll love any garbage you see in TDKR or TAS...

Hahaha I thought tobey was a bad spider-man...he wasn't too close to the spidey from the comics...barely quipping..crying...dancing...yeah who's the easily entertained one again? Haha
I never said Andrew was a better spidey....yet...he's just obviously a better actor...and are you calling tdkr garbage?

Yes thats him. I thought he was playing a cop

That could be an interesting theory.

Maybe some of the cops have turned all together, sick fed up of Batman (or after what they have been told he's done) and have been promised all kinds of benefits if they team with Bane and the mercs.

Just a guess.

Get over yourself. The type of muscle that makes you buff or ripped isn't the same type that gives you superior striking strength (those muscles are denser but leaner). This isn't even getting into someone's will, speed (larger people are slower), and ruthlessness in a fight. I'd face a big oaf down over someone with Bruce Lee's striking strength, endurance and speed every time.

You're missing my point all together here. I'm not full of myself, or saying you need to be huge to be strong.

It's purely just for intimidation purposes. I've never been in a fight in my life, and I don't intend to. I'm a very peaceful person and prefer to make friends. But when I say I know from experience, is because people in high school always thought that I was some crazy monster jock who they didn't want to mess with. Until they met me and said "oh I didn't realize you were just a normal nice guy"

So I'm not trying to say I'm huge and can crush Bane, just that size does help an appearance when you intend to be imposing.

Right now, I'm not really worried about Bane's height. He could end up looking taller once they have wrapped filming.

AvP:R is a good example of how you can make someone appear quite taller. Ian Whyte, who played the Predator is 7' 1", Tom Woodruff Jr., who played the Predalien is 6'2”. In the final Movie, Woodruff towered over Whyte. So if they can pull the same perception trick, Bane could be very imposing.

"I think Bane is ****ing cool."

We already know based on the teaser trailer that he's going to be similar height to Batman.

You mean the teaser that showed like a split second of Bane walking toward Batman, where he looked like a beast?
