This.I don't think it needs to be 'more epic' than TDK. I honestly think it would be a mistake to try. All Batman 3 needs to do is tell a good story, like Begins did.
How is that a Tarantino-thing... you realize thats been around since like the 40s right... it happens at the end of Predator as a throw-back to old movies... the end of Scream 3 as well...
Whether or not he is part of the narrative or just a cameo at the end, I want Ra's to appear - I want Bruce to know, by the time the film ends, that Ra's is NOT dead, and still poses a threat to the people of Gotham and the world.![]()
If an unnecessary thread, then by all means, do close it. Couldn't find a similar thread about that around here (but I probably overlooked it?)
The Dark Knight is not only one of the absolute best movies I've ever seen (it's certainly the most intense, there's no contest). It's also one of the most, how should I put it, majestic and most epic films I've ever seen. It completely took my breath away. Even more so then AVATAR did visually, and I mean that completely. Dark Knight was so HUGE in every way, that it brought tears to my eyes. Gordon's closure speech, anyone! (you know we all choked up). The movie was already big enough, and in the final ten minutes of the flick something spectacular happened. It rose from epic to E-P-I-C! So relentlessly majestic and beautiful, that it WOULD make a grown man cry.
Listen to me go on. Sorry! Can Bats 3 become more epic then TDK??? What IS epic in its purest form? Cause we all know the word "epic" gets thrown around all the time, and most of the time it's not epicness at all. Do any of you guys have a clear picture within your heads as to HOW in the freaken hell the third picture could become bigger in that area? And what will it take? Hope to hear some clever answers![]()
I can not see why people are saying that no movie will ever top The Dark Knight. The Dark Knight certainly was also my favorite film of all time. However, I think that there is absolutely no reason why people should assume the film cannot be defeated. Nolan has a way of doing better with each film that he directs. Yes, the reviews for Inception are in, and all have given extremely high scores, though, I will wait to view the film before judging. Should they not at least attempt to top the film? Take a chance! Just because Heath Ledger's performance as Joker was top notch, does not mean that he can not be topped. An actor will come along and do a better job than Ledger and some will refuse to acknowledge because they are stuck in that mind-set.
I think "epic" in its purest form basically means "being presented with something bigger than yourself." TDK felt epic because what the main characters did had direct ramifications for the people living in Gotham. And it wasn't just the crazy third-act comic-booky action set piece that has innocent sheep people exist only to be saved by the superhero. Throughout the movie, you saw ordinary people in Gotham making their own decisions, having their own motivations. They felt like part of the bigger movie universe. Something bigger than just Batman, the Joker, Dent, and Gordon.Listen to me go on. Sorry! Can Bats 3 become more epic then TDK??? What IS epic in its purest form? I LOL'ed.IMHO, there needs to be a greater threat to Batman than SWAT. Twice now, Batman has eluded/defeated SWAT with relative ease.
Epic would be POTUS suspending the Posse Comitatus Act vis a vis the situation in Gotham City and ordering Delta Force Operators to go in and terminate the Batman with extreme prejudice.
Five words...
Johnny Depp as The Riddler
I know TDK fans will attack me for this but....
BB3 should be more like Batman Begins in tone/Batman characterization and I'll like it better than TDK unexpectably by def ault.![]()
