What edges TDK (the film i like the least in the trilogy) over the others is the combination of what's going on on screen and Zimmers score. Right as Gordon says "So we'll hunt him..." Zimmers Batman score kicks in full blast, and we get a shot of Batman running with the cops on his heels....that's what edge this over TDKR which plays the same exact music, and the Batman theme kicks in as Alred spots Bruce...but not Batman.

This is one of the things that makes me enjoy TDK's ending so much. Like you said as soon as Gordon says "So we'll hunt him..." BOOM and that big kick to the drum comes in. Gordon has his great monologue as Batman is taking the heat for everything that had transpired. And he rides off into a white light as Zimmer's score reaches that two note theme for Batman while Gordon ends it "A Dark Knight." I just can't imagine any other film for me personally that ends better than that.

I do love Begins and TDKR for their endings as well, which are both fantastic for those films. I had huge chills coming out of Rises and when I finished Begins for the first time, it turned me into an enormous Batman fan. More so than I was before. It would be hard to find another set of movies with these type of endings to debate which is best.

I love how the endings, from this poll, seemed to have only gotten better and better, lol.

How can anyone not say BB? That ending was amazing.

"And you're never have to" still gives me the chills.

Not matter how big of a smile the ending to BB gives me, or how many goosebumps the ending to TDK gives me, TDKR ending still takes the cake with how both extremely beautiful and inspiring it is. It makes me wanna smile and cry at the same time. :hrt:

TDK
BB (very close with TDK)

TDKR's last shot ruined it for me. If they reordered the scenes then I might've voted for TDKR.
Sad to say I agree. I was hoping they'd end with Bruce-although overall I still liked the ending.
TDK wins for me-that ending is pitch perfect.

But, but that last shot is perfect! The platform rising until there is only darkness and then bam; The Dark Knight Rises

I loved the ending to TDKR and thought the final shot was perfect and fitting. With that said, TDK's final shot of Batman riding off into the light along with Gordon's 'Watchful Protector' speech....every time I saw that in theaters...I just lost it. For me, that was the best ending.

BEGINS.

I don't think I've ever geeked out during a movie ever as when Gordon is describing escalation and a "new guy" with a taste for the theatrical and hands batman his calling card in the evidence bag.

It was the perfect, leave em wanting more moment after having just seen an incredible realistic, re-imagining of our favorite super hero. Plus the movie title flashing Batman Begins at the end was literally pitch-perfect.

TDK comes in second with a really cool cliffhanger and maybe the most iconic shot of the entire series of batman the vigilante on the run on the bat pod.
But as epic as it was it didn't titillate as much as begins did, it was more just gorgeous filmmaking.

Rises to me was solid but ugh, the Blake/robin thing kinda irks me; that apparently it's easy as pie to be the next savior of Gotham. Hated that he had that Bruce-amidst-the-bats moment moment with no connection to bats or "facing fear". The cafe scene was cool but was so quick I don't feel we the audience got to say goodbye to Bruce Wayne. Glad alfred got his moment though...

BEGINS.

It's not easy as a pie to be the next hero of Gotham, it never says that, the end doesn't say that Blake instantly becomes a new superhero or anything like that. It hints that as Bruce Wayne's journey ends, someone else's begins, a journey that begins thanks to the inspiration of Batman, thanks to the legend of The Dark Knight rising.

And Blake also wasn't just anyone, Bruce noticed this right away in their first scene together, that Blake was cut from the same mold as him, that's the only way he could a deduced his identity just by relating and seeing through both his masks of pain and anger. Batman in his turn has inspired the idealism in Blake, it's a personification of the good he set out to inspire in BB.

BB right now for me.

"And you're wearing a mask and jumping off rooftops. Take this guy for instance...armed robbery, double homicide...got a taste for the theatrics like you..."

Right there I was like "No....they aren't gonna tease me with the Joker..."

and then bam! flips the card over. so perfect. also the classic shot of gordon and batman meeting in front of the signal. it was like he took all the most classic things we love about batman and threw it all at as at once. (batman and gordon are a true team now, the bat signal is up and running, they meet in secret, and an allusion to perhaps the greatest villain ever created)

also, it was the first ending - left me wanting much much more, especially with gordon's dialogue about escalation and batman's confidence that together they could save the city.

but my opinion will probably change by this time tomorrow...they're all classic

1. TDK - Batman taking the fall & the monologue with Batman running...EPIC
2. TDKR - Bruce Wayne finding peace and a way out of his curse...AWESOME, but Blake being the last shot kinda hurts it a bit...Bruce/Alfred's exchange should have been last.
3. Begins - I didn't feel the Joker reveal was as big because you knew he was coming at some point...but when Batman says "and you'll never have to"...giddyness-ensues.

Again, that is what is so amazing about this trilogy, you have 3 movies that alone are great in their own rights.

Begins by far. The Joker tease and that last line of the film are the best combo ever.

TDK by far, for me at this point. TDKR's ending might grow with me in time but TDK's ending has the ability to choke me up like clockwork.

I think TDK has one of the greatest endings to a movie period, and if that was the last movie in Nolans franchise i would happy regardless.

TDK for me too... LOVED BB one, the Bats/Gordon meeting was like a dream coming true :hrt: and TDKR's "happy ending" is really nice for Blake and specially Bruce... and of course, it's emotional.
But Batman taking the fall of Dent, running in the Darkness, Gordon talking about what defines him... that was SO powerful, that I can't really imagine how a superhero movie will end better than that, really :hrt::hrt:

Such a hard question. All three endings are phenomenal but I have to go with TDKR. It gives me shivers and I absolutely love the music as it builds up to the Bruce reveal and then we see Blake rise...

BB's ending is definitely my favorite one. I loved the Gordon+Batman chat, and that tease of the Joker? gets me smiling every time :woot:

Even though I like BB more as a film, TDK has the better ending.

1) TDK
2) BB
...
...
3) TDKR

Originally, I hated the ending montage for TDK, but on repeat viewings, I grew to like it.

Still hate what they did to Harvey's character though. Way too brutal an end for him.

All the endings were perfect for their respective stories. The ending of Batman Begins felt like it could've been the ending for any of the three movies, minus things like context and the little details like Batman's suit, and even the Joker's card. Gordon and Batman next to the Batsignal talking about the future of Gotham City.
