The Dark Knight Rises Why I think Rises will be better than TDK

Hmmm... watching TDK is like watching paint dry for me. I find Begins paced better and more engrossing. When I watch TDK now i find myself skipping to Joker's scenes because everything else is so utterly boring.

Really? Damn, I HAVE to give BB a second chance now.

I can't believe people are already saying "TDK was pretty much just about the Joker"

After TDK came out everyone literally said "I'm glad TDK didn't focus so much on the Joker like Batman 89 did."

The Dark Knight is the greatest comic book movie of all. Chris might top it with this, or it might just be as good as it.

No one is saying TDK is just about the Joker. But they, me included, think he was by far the best thing about the movie and everything else, including the goddamn Batman, was boring.

Although like i've said before I enjoyed Dent's story arc.

Not sure if I agree with this one. The press all over were focusing on Joker and saying hes the star. Not that I agree with it, I still personally find Batman more interesting (yes, I do), but I got the feeling that people all over thought it was Joker movie - and it wasnt anything demeaning

If TDKR can take the things that I like in BB and not include the things that I didn't like in TDK then it's very possible for it to surpass BOTH BB and TDK for me. I'm feeling very optimistic that it will. :)

It gave every character (even Gordon) a good amount of face time, but honestly I think Heath STOLE THE SHOW... like I knew he would.

Any movie with the Joker in it will become a Joker movie. There's nothing anyone can do about it.

The Joker will always steal the show. A case when the bad guy is more interesting than the good guy. An perhaps just as popular and iconic as the good guy.

Im extremely enthusiastic about TDKR since the announcements of the villains (if one would check, way before the screenplay was written and we were posting our picks here, I wanted Bane and Catwoman - what a treat), I love the looks, the designs, the trailer, the synopsis. The only thing I dislike is the existence and design of the batplane, but thats a different subject

I think it works in 99% but for me personally Batman is always the most interesting because he behaves, acts and looks like a bad guy. With the long ears I always though he looks like the devil

Pretty much. You'd really need the blandest actor to play him and the worst screenwriter of all time to NOT have the Joker steal the show if you have him in the movie. Maybe it's doable if you have someone like Channing Tatum play the Joker and Daniel Day-Lewis play Batman. :funny:

I never said it was JUST about joker but it focused quite a bit on him. More so than Begins did with scarecrow

Heath: "Want to know how I got these scars?"
Daniel: "It's called drainage... You have a face... and I reeeeeeeeeach across with my batarang... and I BATARANG YOUR FACE! I BATARANG IT UP!"

Nearly every comic book villain in every other comic book movie got more focus than Scarecrow. Bane in Batman and Robin got more focus than Scarecrow lol.

Without the Joker it still is a very good movie. But yes, it makes alot of difference with the character in the movie. That is sorta what I meant before that TDK will most likely be better for me because of the better characters. I cant imagine the plot/visuals/direction/script to be much better or worse. All that is left are the characters. And Im not dissing Bane and Catwoman, Im actually expecting Catwoman to be the my fav character of the trilogy after Joker. But the TDK did have the Joker, and not just the Joker but Two-face too.

For me, it doesn't need to be a better movie than TDK. If it is at the level of quality that that film was at it will be good enough. Best case scenario it is better, but the bar is already so high that I feel like it would be asking a lot of Nolan, even though there are certainly things that can improved and should be from film to film. I feel like I should want it to be better.

On the other hand, does it really matter if it's better? It should be judged on its own merits, not another film's, even if it is its predecessor.

Oh hell no it does need to be better. If its better than Begins, Im satisfied.

I don't think this film ever needed to be better than TDK. Still, it's seeming like Chris has outdone himself yet again regardless.

We're saying that now... but come 11:59 p.m. night of we'll be f**king SALIVATING LIKE RABID WOLVES.

 Oh come on, the story is very simple. Not bad, but simple. After having watched TDK you dont go 'wow what an unbelievably well written story'.
Ive read the comics.

Most of the best films have very simple stories at their heart. It's then the screenwriter and filmmaker's job to take the and portray it in an extraordinary manner.

The Dark Knight did just that. The film's not without its flaws though mind you.

A few of scenes which could have been cut out, like the whole bullet shtick which was entirely avoidable.

Despite that though I think considering it was a 'superhero' film, it took multiple characters and gave them arcs that wove in and out of each other quite effectively.

Any film that portrays crime well and gives me a narrative where I'm rooting for everyone, the bad guy included, is well written for me.

The Dark Knight Rises always be my first preference.I am eagerly waiting for it..!!
