Wonder Woman Box Office Speculation Thread - Part 2

The Jungle Book(opened to $103 like WW) made 4 million on its second Monday and went on to gross $966 million(i thought it was 800 before). So how is the bad?

You compare Monday to Monday not weekend to Monday. The Jungle book had 18 million on its second Sunday and then got that 4 million the next Mon. Still made almost a billion. Wonder Woman is playing like an animated family movie. Again how is that number, if it is true, bad?
Jungle Book is a bad comparison to compare Wonder Woman's weekdays with. It was released in April. Wonder Woman has summer weekdays with the vast majority of schools out.

And making "almost a billion" has nothing to do with it because we're talking strictly about Domestic box office. PotC4 made 1.86M on it's 18th day and made over $1B. Does that mean it would be good it Wonder Woman made 1.86M on its 18th day(this monday) too? Of course not.

Btw did you even read my post? I didn't compare weekend to Monday anywhere in my post.

The numbers being debated are probably just a guess based on the chart we are now debating... :cwink:

Yes but if WW indeed gets 3.5-3.8M for Monday that's a 70%+ drop (the 42% drop mentioned in Mendelson's article is drop from last Monday, not drop from Sunday like in The Number's chart).

Btw how the hell can every movie even include Wimpy Kid and Snatched already has number but WW hasn't? Hopefully that means WB has too much money to count.

If it is still on Imax screens sometimes those come in slower.

Ok WB is slow today, WW, King Arthur and Everything Everything all haven't got number yet when other studios' movie already post numbers.

175M-budget King Arthur probably made 10k yesterday lol

But they HAVE TO BE RIGHT DAMN IT.....THEY HAVE TO BE. :sly:

These days I don't even believe that the sun is in the sky unless I have confirmation from multiple sources :oldrazz:

Those aren't the real numbers. WB is being super slow today haha

Looking at the overall drops this week, I think Wonder Woman has a great shot at coming in at #2 again this weekend. Cars3 isn't holding up lol

Even if the final tally was 360M that'd hardly be sky-is-falling numbers. A 3.5x multiplier is unheard of in modern CBMs outside of GOTG. Just two weeks ago we were saying it'd be lucky to break 300M.

Don't remember a studio ever being this late with their box office numbers. Did WB's box office guy fall asleep on the job or something?

They finally gave us the actual number(over 3 hours later than any other studio): http://www.the-numbers.com/box-office-chart/daily/2017/06/19

$4,808,414, so quite a lot bigger than that $3.5-3.8M estimate, as expected.

Good number. WoW drop of only 23.3%, although tomorrow the WoW drop will probably be a bit bigger; last week monday was smaller because of the NBA game. That's why a 42% WoW drop would have been worse than it seemed compared to other movies. Without that NBA game it would actually be close to a 50% WoW drop, which would be a sign of a potential 55%+ 4th weekend drop if it follows the usual day to day drops.

That's why I thought it would not have been good; no one is expecting it to drop that much next weekend. And with that monday number it definitely looks like it won't.

She already used her legs to keep the Mummy under wraps. :hmr:

Somebody should do some fan art of Wonder Woman beating up Tom Cruise.

( Yes, I know Ahmunet is the villain of the movie, but Cruise and his meta-role in that mess of a franchise is the real Big Bad, so there. ;) )

Good number

Wonder Woman will likely pass Man of Steel (291 million) on Thursday night and finish the weekend over 315 million.

4.8M Monday drop 68% from Sunday

i think the percentage drop listed is incorrect. at least based on the other percentage drops how is a new movie like cars 3 calculated? if compared to last monday which was zero it should have no drop. if compared to sunday it should be worse than WW.

doesn't make sense to me

I think it'll get to 350 million or close to it before Spidey drops.

Last year the big Halloween costumes for girls were Harley Quinn and Supergirl, this year holy cow they better have LOTS of Wonder Woman in stock.

There is no such thing as "enough", I suspect.

That's a good drop! And the WW hype train keeps rolling on!! It should pass MOS domestically on Thursday and end this weekend around 315-320!

It is correct:
$14,845,843 Sunday
$4,808,414 Monday

Monday Drop = 1-(4,808,414/14,845,843)*100% = 67.61%.

thanks. so many people were talking about last monday i was confused. It was of course from Sunday. this makes-to me-the 4.8 a great number. It's still only 600,000 behind cars 3

The middle-aged woman in the seat next to me on Father's Day was already planning her WW costume for Halloween lol. That's what she was talking about with her group during the end credits.

Anyway, that's essentially the same % drop as last week's Sunday to Monday. Last week was 67%.

NBA game last Monday offset by Father's Day this Sunday, maybe.

(NBA might have lowered last Monday, but Father's Day probably bumped this week's Sunday number up a bit.)

And still with gas in the tank! What a run!

I knew opening the movie this late in Germany was a mistake. I wanted to go this past weekend and see it but with the extremely hot weather I rather spend my time with friends and family going swimming or BBQ.

And unless the weather changes soon I'm not likely to sit in the cinema after work where there is no AC.
