Those are all still recasts. You also forgot Sabretooth and Gambit

That is pretty far away and things could change; Episode VIII was pushed from May to December so things are still pretty fluid. Right now it looks like the next main X-Men installment is tentatively scheduled for July 13, 2018 (since I'm assuming FF is well and truly dead).

Regardless, I don't think it really matters that much for the box office prospects. If anything, it might help since it will get X-Men away from the MCU movies that always kick off May (although that July 13 date is just a week after Ant-Man and the Wasp).

That date is probally going to be for spin-off film most likely the new mutants.
inless we hear something soon very unlikely next X-men film hits till summer 2019.

Those aren't recasts... you know the younger version/older version were once upon a time appeared in the same movie, way back in 2014.

While Sabretooth could easily be connected to X1 Sabretooth if they wanted to.

And Taylor Kitsch's Gambit is never that popular as Hugh's Wolverine and has only appeared in 1 movie.

any and everyone is replaceable

lol and Kitty has been recast....twice!

i didn't mention kitty since for many they refear to ellen page's version of
character.only die hard fans remember she was in X-Men and x2 before page played the character.

everyone is replaceable.even marvel studios recasted james rhodes,Bruce banner, and one of warriors three.granted only banner is major role.

Its a recast when you have someone playing a role played by someone. Even if IA with what you are saying, they could have had Rebecca Romijin as Mystique, given the nature of her powers but they chose to go with a different actress. Thats a recast and she wasnt played by her "older" version back in 2014.

Im not sure I get what you are trying to say with Sabes but it was the same character. LS wasnt hired to play someone with the same name

Does it matter that TK wasnt as popular as Gambit as HJ is as Wolverine? The point remains. The role has now been recast with Channing Tatum

Jackman is not irreplacable but I have a very hard time pcituring who they can use to follow it up

He is irreplaceable in this current series. Unless they reboot the series from scratch then okay since thats what happened with other lead superheroes.

So you are excluding Mystique? Because Kelsey/Ian/Patrick were in the 2014 X-Men movie. Rebecca Romijn also appeared in first class in a cameo role. It wasn't a recast. They cast a younger version. And it was already explained that she ages slowly but not like the Wolverine.

So Indiana Jones was recast before when they did the TV series?... nope. They cast a younger version. Unless they show Mystique in the present times and its Jennifer Lawrence thats playing her, okay.

Jackman can be replaced I don't know why people think otherwise, it may be some difficulty but it can happen. Gambit is a recast is a completely person playing the same character, also i really don't think the franchise is doomed because it's not the OT come on now people some of the performances were great but a lot of them fell flat. I do love the OT,especially my boo Marsden but I still think this new cast is going to do wonders with the roles and it will still do very well without the OT cast.

That does not make sense for Lawrence's mystique as she is a shape shifter so she doesn't age so she should always look like Lawrence Mystique when she's in blue form yah know unless she was recast...:cwink:

I hope I'm wrong. I hope I'm blown away and it somehow gets to a billion ww and 400 domestic...but I'm not sure I will be.

BVS didn't even hit 1 billion worldwide which was a big surprise to me! And Apocalypse will have to do better than Deadpool at the box-office to reach $400 million in North America and we all know X-Men will have plenty of competition this summer of 2016.

I def. don't think this makes 400 domestic. I don't even see this outgrossing DOFP.

Agreed. I would put the domestic ceiling (95th percentile case) at $300M domestic but $250M seems like a much more realistic outcome. The floor is probably $200M and to fall below that the quality would need to be BvS bad.

You know what that would be definitely be disappointing. DOFP was the *spark* that X-Men needed at the U.S. box-office, if they can't keep the momentum because they "recast" characters, didn't include the most popular X-Man and didn't even bring the characters we saw in the new future, then oh well.

BvS still is doing well at 800 million that's really good, I'm unsure why some call it a flop that's nearly a billion. I hope this movie shuts down naysayers that say that it can't succeed. It dosent need necessarily Stewart,Berry,Jansen or Jackman etc to succeed I don't know people are stuck on them yes some of them are awesome but they can be replaced . We have new introductions to very popular characters that's mostly what matters.

According to reports, $800 million to $925 million is the break-even for the film and Bvs is already released in China/Japan.

I just think a lot of people expected it to hit $1 billion especially given its lack of big competition in its 1st three weeks, the last Batman movie earned $1 billion and its Superman/Batman appearing in the big screen for the first time.

They just need to improve the marketing. I don't think the marketing for this has been that good at all.
They have the name recognition, it seems like they have the spectacle type effects...stop holding back. Show character personalities, show something that says "Go see this in the theaters" because even as a big X-Men fan it hasn't really done that for me.

Not that many people are calling it a flop but if you read and research you can see why the 800 mill is dissappointing, but that's another thread

Yea not to derail the post but I did visit the other forum when the movie came out and people were saying hoe much of a failure and flop it was and I'm like 800$ million is great. Idk maybe it's all the major promo and everything which required more money for it to be a profit but I still think those are great numbers.

For most other movies 800 mill is great.
But for a movie that cost reportedly 250 mill before marketing that's not good.

Remember studios don't get 100% of the box office receipts

Right I see what your saying now and that's what I figured.

Back to X-Men

Is anyone else not impressed by the marketing and thinking how that will affect the returns?

Nope they didn't do much until just recently with CW i think in the next couple of weeks it'll start kicking into high gear.

It has been an odd and rather lackluster marketing campaign thus far. They really need to kick it into gear soon.
