I'm not in any delusion that this'll do beaucoup box office dollars. As long as this beats Alice's arse (hopefully by a wide margin) I'll be content.

TMNT 2 is gonna do well because they know what they are doing with that movie, playing to the kids and adults who grew up with the original cartoon and its gonna work

casting stephen Amell as casey Jones may end up working since it can get some of arrow audence.they were advertising TMNT2 on the CW because of it.

What's Arrow's audience? AFAIK most CW shows only have 1 Million people watching them.

Though that might be true but let's not count our chickens before they hatch.

TMNT 2 is "only" projected to do $53 Mil opening weekend if we were to go by boxoffice.com

shows on CW are popular with young adults and arrow is second hated rated show on CW.

I agree with you on not counting chickens before the hatch on alice VS X-men but things are off to good start and projection are for alice at 60 million and apocalypse between 80 to 100 million depending on which one you listen to.

Hit as in making money or hit as in good.

Bad reviews are part of the fun with films like that.

So 80-90 million opening weekend prediction? That's a bit low even X-Men made 54 million in 2000, I believe?

Is the budget 234 million or 178 million? That's quite a difference..

It is only low because expectations have risen so high. That is a respectable opening, and if it can find decent legs, can go pretty far.

As for the budget, only the accountants know.

It's certainly lower than earlier predictions, which I expect is because of the reviews that were released so early.

In terms of the budget, who knows? The studio math on these things is byzantine; they obfuscate even on the most successful properties.

Profit's crucial of course but even outside of budget the gross itself matters as it determines how big future budgets can be. And on a team superhero film, it will always be that much more of an uphill battle to make outlandish and powerful heroes and villains look as good as the director might want for every dollar you are constricted by. Singer knows this more than most.

read thursday preview was 8.2 million compared to dofp which had 8.1 million and ended with a 90 million OW

Might mean it'll be more frontloaded. We'll see.

THR just spoiled the aftercredits sequence in a tweet, with pictures. lol

Par for the course I guess.

DOFP started their shows at 10pm on Thursday, XMA started at 7, so they had more showings for a Thursday night.
