Apocalypse X-Men: Apocalypse Box Office Prediction Thread - Part 2

As far as I know MCU has a huge female presence.
Hmm, would be interesting to see what factors attract the demographic most. I guess we haven't really had an ideal representation of the strongest X-women yet (Jean's been ok but haven't seen the best of Storm, Rogue, Emma Frost, Psylocke etc yet) and would be interesting to see the balance if that happened.

$125M 4-day is way too high. Think closer to $80-90M, which is fine.

I think they had 120m for the domestic 4-day, and they seemed to believe that then international 4 day from this past weekend would be at 124.5m, but those are estimates.

Like every X-Men film, it'll open "fine". Not amazing or even great, just fine. It'll come in just under whatever everyone starts projecting on Friday, and it'll have terrible legs for the next two months.

It's just sort of what you have to expect from this franchise.

Sad but true.

We haven't seen the best of X-Men yet so it's hard to know what a film that achieved that could do. While they do things the same way (and not that that is terrible or anything) they will get box office results within a similar range. If they combine the heart and emotional core of some of their best to date with character balance across the board and Civil War type action (and there are certainly enough high octane X-Men to match that kind of action if someone has the ambition and budget to develop it) I'd be very interested to see how high it could go.

The Thor movies have a high female audience.

I remember that "Days of Future Past" was allegedly very popular with a female demographic mainly because of Jennifer Lawrence's fanbase. (I think I remember some articles about it...)

This would also explain why Lawrence seems to have so much power over the character Mystique. This is the best argument you can have as an actress to control a studio: "You want me back to sell tickets for you? fine, no. more. makeup then!" (in Scarlet Witch voice)

You are making very big assumptions right there.

She was contracted for this 3rd movie

What do people mean my by no more makeup?

why? don't you think that there's a ways to get out of a contract if you are Jennifer "rich & famous" Lawrence? (or what about "sorry, I cannot get painted blue today I have a skin condition see my medical certificate" ;)) Lawrence is able to sell tickets! A studio will make sure it has a good relationship with a commercial (!) powerful (!) female star like her because she is NOT replaceable at the moment:

quick google search:
"Actress Jennifer Lawrence apparently sold maximum tickets in Hollywood as she has been named the most bankable star of 2013" (Robert Downey Jr. is even behind her according to this ranking)

I don't like to confuse the social context of a movie production with what happens in the movie, but please don't tell me there wasn't something EXTREMELY off with the visual depiction of the character Mystique during the entire movie. Her makeup and wig when she speaks to Magneto in the final act is ridiculously ridiculously bad in comparison to former X-Men movies! And this cannot be explained with a plot decision!

The demo for X-Men DOFP was 56% male and 44% female. In comparisons that's about the same for GOTG. Thor Dark Worlds was 48% female.

DOFP was the highest female demo X-Men has seen I believe.

Just more random Lawrence hate. The whole complaints about the make up is somewhat troublesome, imo. As it focuses on Mystique being naked as the only real way to portray her.

Wait, because she wears outfits, people are complaining? The hell is wrong with people. That is how she is in the comics. :lmao:

People were *****ing about the bodysuit. Which tells me they wanted naked.

That is pretty much an assumption based on her fame

And why can't it be explained by plot or make up decisions? Just think how easy it would have been if they just Mo cap her rather then her spending any hours at all in the make up chair, or was that not her decision? :o

its one of those things where with dofp when we see hoults out of make up and back as hank i remember alot of people questioning it like huh? why isn't he blue? now if hoults has been a huge star at that point the obvious answer would have been... thats why he ain't blue, but no thats not the case, it was a creative decision that ended up in the end not really going anywhere in apocalypse because the idea was still there but just kinda got forgotten about, whether its fully forgotten about who knows but it really didn't go anywhere in apocalypse worth starting in the first place.
