Apocalypse X-Men Apocalypse News and Discussion - Part 2

it depends how early on they are introduced

plus different circumstances, its not so much magneto and xaviers origin anymore, i can see them more of father roles now, also remembering there is probably be alot of characters involved
maybe but I dont trust TPTB. They seem more about promoting actors forward so thats why I see the "stars" continue to be the leads and any new characters be limited to smaller supporting roles. Id love to be wrong but its always felt as if for the most part, the bulk of the X-men members got a backseat to Xavier, Magneto, Wolverine and Mystique in all the films (OT and FC/DOFP)

I think this movie will have a similar balance to X2. Lets remember that that sequel had Magneto and Xavier as important roles, same with Wolverine, as the main lead from the X-Men, yet it had a good balance, except for Cyclops. But this is a different movie and story, so Bryan and writers can easily get a great balance with Xavier, Magneto, Mystique, Wolverine, Beast Cylclops and Jean, at least. a balance with 7 main characters is not that hard, after all.

I am not worried for Jean because she was the principal female lead in the OT.
Famke Janssen had a lot of screen time, her development was great (X1/X2), she saved the day in X2 and was the most powerful mutant in X3 even if the Phoenix storyline was bad. Besides, we could see the Phoenix against Apocalyspe.

For Storm, the problem wasn't the quantity but quality. Hally Berry has a lot of screen time to and was everywhere in the marketing. But Storm was mediocre in the OT so Singer has to fix with the new Storm .Maybe, she will be Gambit's partner (like Wolverine and Rogue) .

For Cyclop, the problem was the quantity not the quality. James Marsden was great in X1 but he has completely disappeared in X2 and X3. Singer can make good Cyclop but he must do MUCH MORE with him .

I think since it is likely we'll see Sinister as the main villain after Apocalypse, that Scott will play a large role in the story.

personally i can see them exploring the cyclops and jean relationship abit in apocalypse, how they got together, whether it will be touched apon lightly or in a big way, unless they are already together but i can see them attempting to show how they got together

unless they really do plan to have the next movie after apocalypse be about the young team

I'd love to see a Cyclops trilogy. Or at least a spin-off.

With the casting call, sounds like they will be casting anywhere from 18-26 year old actors possibly to three picture deals. I could see them luring back the FC Class for another two part story involving Sinister/Phoenix/Apocalypse or some grand X-Men duology. I don't think you can rely on these young actors to carry their own film without at least Xavier/Beast heavily involved, as well as a big time villain. I'd like to see them film two films back to back for 2019/2020 if that's the case. Then they can move into present day stories involving different characters/teams and hopefully a different creative vision by then, as much as I enjoy the current vision.

Nicholas Hoult more than likely will stay on this franchise happily, and James McAvoy seems like a cool guy that wants to be a part of this franchise, to alternate these movies with his indie stuff, so being such an iconic character, Proffesor X, I think he will be fine doing another movie/s.

So with these two FC actors involved along with the new team, Fox wont have any problem selling future movies, with another A-list for Sinister, along with more great supporting actors.

Caleb Landry Jones and lucas till were about 20 when they played havok and banshee in First class and they had that young look, and i don't think their age was ever really mentioned

jennifer lawrence and nicholas hoult were 20 also actually

they are all 24 years old now so they were obviously going for 20 year old actors for FC

^ Anna Paquin was 17 when she first joined the franchise and she's now 32 (that's 15 years). They could definitely keep some of these other actors for a good decade if Fox's plans work out.

I think there are some legal issues to hire actors younger 18 yo.
Actors under 18 cannot work more than 4 hours per day or maybe I'm wrong :woot:

How it works in USA and Canada?

good point. That could be a hint that they wont sign actors younger than 18. If true, Im pretty happy about it. 18-19 yo is the perfect age, imo.

Yeah, I found the very clear age stipulation curious in the casting notice. True about legal limits, but methinks it's more to avoid any recurrence of 'issues' with its 'problematic' director...

Are you being serious?

It is most probably because Hollywood always casts older for younger. In fact, it is probably as simple as that.

"Akkaba" is the title the movie will be filming under. The casting call is calling for "three 18 year old actors to play 16. Their names are Ava, Dylan, and Sabrina."

Sounds like Scott, Jean, and Storm.

I hope this doesn't mean that Nightcrawler will not be in the movie. I was really looking forward to seeing a young, circus performing, swashbuckling, energetic Nightcrawler this time. And I was hoping that including him would lead to the story of his birth and possibly redeption (or sorts) for Mystique. I could easily see Mystique being with Erik and then him leaving and her turning to, or being forced by Azazel.

Anyway, with them only casting these three at this time I'm starting to worry about Kurt. Maybe they will still cast him, or maybe they even already have someone they specifically want (Kodi Smit-McPhee please!), but I'm a bit concerned that he may be overlooked...

:pal::applaud

So I'm assuming that this movie will still have Jennifer Lawrence front and center and Magneto ultimately being the true villain and a lot of grandstanding about being 'who your are' and whatnot?

I don't see him as Apocalypse. He's is gonna have to pull off another big time accent. Personally don't think Bane can be topped, and it would be too similar in terms of menace and prowess to each respective universe. Plus, I think WB has the inside edge given they probably have a long standing relationship with him. I can see why the Bane role opened eyes at Fox.

Remember Hardy was villain of Star Trek Nemesis where Bryan Singer had walk on.

Apocalypse should be painted blue as DOFP post credit scene showed.

Hardy would be get for Fox.Hopefully this turns out like 2010 When Sony was also after Michael Fassbender for SPider-man villain but Fox won over.

I wouldnt, I personally didnt think he had the charisma for Bane, It could be because of the mask but I felt like he wasnt that intimidating to be honest. I want a booming, powerful voice. You know who would actually have been a great voice for Apocalypse. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=uihbX1ho2_k#t=68 They could have him do the voice as his skills as a thesp match both Mckellan and Stewart, he would sound both menacing but also comforting as he wipes out the world.

Since Apocalypse is blue anyways, it lessens the likelihood of people saying "another Whitewashed Egyptian"
