Maybe it's too soon or it makes less money, but I don't want Fox to conform. Charles was the main hero in XA and it's amazing and encouraging to have a character in a wheelchair front and center. It fits perfectly within the philosophy of the X-Men. These are boundaries that needs to be pushed to broaden people's mind and to question what is 'normal' or what people think is 'attractive'. Now I'll stop preaching. Sorry!

It's okay for Xavier to be at the heart of the movies but he's quite a static character and is so powerful he always has to be decommissioned in some way - kidnapped, drugged, comatose, etc.

He managed to be far more active in the comics and animated series - and yet he didn't steal all the focus from the X-Men themselves. The focus isn't quite right in the films at times.

y is there one hunnid sixty some odd ppl in the x-men forum? something happen or sumfin?

Thank goodness he wasn't in the final film, there were too many characters as it was, without including one that already had his moment in DoFP.

I think it could have worked better if the X-Men (including Havok, who wouldn't have died in the mansion explosion, thus making Quicksilver's comedic rescue sequence less inappropriate) had also found Banshee and Emma Frost alive and imprisoned at Alkali Lake and freed them. Emma would have fled. Banshee would have come with the X-Men, as would Wolverine.

The X-Men going to Egypt would have included Banshee and Havok. Apoc would have killed Havok. Banshee would have been knocked out somehow. Wolverine would eventually have been incapacitated by Storm - she would have conducted lightning through his claws and metal skeleton to knock him out, then created a micro-tornado around him and whirled him miles away.

Still don't think we needed wolverine in the final battle, let alone being taken out in a similar way he was for DOFP

I actually would have liked this, im disappointed they killed off Banshee played brilliantly by Caleb and Emma Frost who they could have recast so easily. That was one of my major gripes with DOFP. They kill off these characters that could play major roles down the line I think thats silly. Which is another reason why I want someone else to tackle the series. I totally would have liked Storm more involved in the final battle though as well because she literally did nothing until the end of that brief battle they had.

that's because Ryan only works best in comedy format... whenever he's serious or heartfelt he doesn't really come off the greatest.

When working with the right people, he's shown (IMO) that he can shine in serious roles too.In movies like Buried and Woman in Gold.

Hmm...so i guess originally Trask was meant to have had a hand in creating that advanced tech at Alkali Lake (with funding from Essex Corp)? It makes sense given the relationship Stryker and Trask had in DOFP. Still, i'm glad they didn't follow through with that idea. Other characters would have suffered from his presence.

aesthetically the technology of Alkali Lake's basis also resembled the technique of the future concentration camps shown in 'Days of Future Past'. I really liked this detail.

They can easily bring Trask back in a sequel. Maybe after the events of 'X-Men: Apocalypse' they restart the Sentinel program in a different form. They could easily do 'Phalanx Convenant' with Trask. I think the Phalanx-Sentinels could be a very cool visual update for the 70s Sentinels.

i can't see the sentinels being used again beyond danger room training now, i doubt they will undermine the point of DOFP by bringing them back as villains

I don't think the actual point of 'Days of Future Past' was to stop the Sentinels but to make sure Mystique stays on the side of the angels. The moment Xavier won the fight over Mystique's soul was the moment that stopped the dark future from happening.

I don't see how the Sentinels can be gone for good. The are invented. Of course they will be used again.

Depends how you look at it i guess, what is stopping the dark future from happening again if trask goes back to doing what he was stopped from doing in DOFP? basically experimenting on mutants to make better sentinels? its abit undermining if the sentinel programme starts back up again

Since they look like danger room training devices now they probably will continue to be used in some form.

after the success that was 'Stranger Things' (...Jean Grey inspired....) I'm wondering if some movie producers wished they wouldn't have cut all the teenager 80s nostalgia stuff out of the movie and instead promoted the **** out of the mall scene weeks before the release date...

I certainly wish they did. Not enough fun was had with the 80's setting, and I liked the kids for the most part.

Stranger Things was really enjoyable.

They didn't even release centric videos for them that the Horsemen/Apocalypse/Mystique got.

They definitely missed the opportunity to make a true 80s inspired movie.

After watching Stranger Things I immediately imagined a film loosely based on Inferno where Sinister is the antagonist, manipulating a young Jean Grey to open a gate to hell. A young Scott Summers is determined to rescue her. Jean sacrifices herself to defeat Sinister and close the gate.

It's revealed that "hell" was actually the Brood homeworld. The Brood wanted Jean so they could use her as a host for their new Queen. The events do not go unnoticed by the Shi'ar who will come to Earth to investigate in the sequel.

I shouldn't bother but when or when did they even try to say magneto and
mystique weren't going to be major focus on this film.Singer and kinberg were quite open to how apocalypse was going to focus on.

as the conclusion of first class trilogy and culmination of first 6 X-Men films
it was obvious who this film was going to focus

Sigh. Singer saying that Magneto and Mystique is two of the focus of the film ISN't AN excuse to not to develop or degradee the more important X-Men characters into silent henchmen. Not to mention, Magneto's role was been there, done that. Mystique, I don't want even talk about it because that will just open a can of worms again.

There were so into this First Class trilogy, that they had to limit other iconic X-Men characters and degrade them as moving statues? How is that okay? It is okay because the plan was always to put the focus on Magneto/Mystique/Xavier, doesn't matter if the other characters don't do much and if its injustice to their comic-book history.

Not sure if it's been discussed here but on the audio commentary for the stinger, Singer said this.

"We did a tag that we really couldn't do -- which I can stick on the DVD. It would have been for Deadpool, and unfortunately it wouldn't have had the right costume for the character they're going to add to Deadpool [2]. I don't want to give that away."

Given that Cable was already announced in Deadpool months earlier and I doubt it would be Domino I wonder who they shot.
