It was cringeworthy to watch JLaw in Apocalypse. And if she is in makeup the whole time in DP, I feel it will be 10x worse.

On another (partially unrelated) note, Black Panther has become the highest-grossing superhero movie of all time in US. Which sets the bar really high for the sequel. And I'm willing to bet Storm might make her MCU debut in there.

Given the way they treated the female characters... I wouldn't mind.

Storm is first and foremost a X-Men character. Black Panther could outgross The Force Awakens and it won't change my mind. Storm needs to debut in a X-Men film.

As for Jlaw, she's totally fine in Red Sparrow and the Hunger Games. The X-Men though don't need her.

MCU Storm should totally debut in Black Panther. Actually, I think it's a smart thing to have most of the X-Men debut first sprinkled across other MCU properties. It would build excitement when they all finally get their own film. But all that is still years away.

She said to look out for the
island scene. The costumes we've seen do show up early in the movie; space rescue. Quicksilver isn't stealing the show, but there is some notable teamup with Nightcrawler. Cyclops vs Beast at one point. There isn't a lot of action (like standard 3 act stuff), but there is a lot of power uses. The death in the movie is pretty much who folks here wanted to die so badly. Jean had voices in her head before she killed this person. Skrulls look scary. Overall, according to her, it was miles better than Apocalypse.

That's all I could get.
I believe it but
She doesn't really provide info we haven't already speculated about other than teamups/power use.

I think the marketing for Apocalypse might be to blame for that.
Her performance (and time without makeup) was equally guilty. I remember a review pointing out that it felt like she wasn't even there, only thinking of her paycheck. We all know she's a joker, but when she's proud of her performances she points it out (mother!), and she hasn't done the same for her X-Men performances, in fact unless my memory serves me wrong she even cringed when they showed a clip of her in Graham Norton Show promoting X-Men Apocalypse? I think her DOFP performance has a lot bad line delivery too, but I've already gone over that in the past.

Agreed. I could see Storm being introduced in the Black Panther franchise, Wolverine alongside Alpha Flight and Hulk, Iceman and Firestar in a Spidey sequel, Rogue in Captain Marvel and Beast in Avengers.

It could be a good way to give Storm additional development outside of the X-Men. Plus, it makes for a Giant-Size setup, with Xavier traveling to Africa to seek her help, if Marvel wants to go that route.

There are so many possibilities. I’m very curious to see how they introduce the X-Men, and mutants in general, to the MCU.

You mean if she is NOT in makeup?

What I meant was: if without makeup she was already acting bored and like she didn't want to be there, with makeup, a process she allegedly hates, would be 10x worse.

I have no idea how they'll introduce mutants in the MCU. But those huge characters popping out like that in different franchises could be a bit messy, IMO. I can see some mutants or X-Men related characters appearing like that, like Juggernault, for instance, but not all huge ones. I also like your suggestion for Rogue.

The thing with Storm is, as much as we love her and know how huge she is, Black Panther has changed the scenario completely. It was a game changer. And Storm making her debut there sounds fitting to me, despite how controversial her relationship with T'Challa was.

Now with Wolverine, my unrealistic dream was to watch a whole X-Men trilogy without him, but I don't think that's happening at all. Disney/Marvel executives are allegedly already crazy to get their hands in him. They will probably introduce him as soon as possible.

So my "more realistic" dream is a first X-Men movie without him, establishing Scott, Jean and Ororo as the core characters. Then introducing Logan in a solo movie. Then making a second X-Men movie, and only introducing him in the third one. Since FOX has overused him in the X-Men movies, I think this is a possible scenario.

Guys stay on topic. I no joke thought i was in a MCU x-men thread for a few seconds LOL

Most violent movie after Logan. The Skrull who takes on Chastain's human form. Skrulls stabbing people with weird arm/knives.

Oh, that's interesting. Gives me Hela in Thor Ragnarok vibes.

I question how much of that is by design though. Because when she finally embraced her blue form near the end I thought she was good particularly in the scene between her, and Magneto.

Sounds promising. Was it "good" or just better than Apocalypse? Any character who hasn't been announced yet?

- I've heard it's quite good...focusing more on the drama...and halfway through the film, one of our beloved characters...oh...wait...that would be telling...

@XMenTea

-I hope it's beast bc not one cares for that character, Magneto and Mystique are better characters for the stories. (Probably it's mystique)

All these leaks seem to confirm the same things. I feel like we know already the entire plot by now. lol...It really rubs me the wrong way that they have chosen the Skrulls over the Shi'Ar. I really don't get why. They could have easily update the Shi'Ar's appearances and make them look more "otherworldly" and give them image inducers or some alien tech to hide their true appearance in public. The Shi'Ar and their complicated relationship to the Phoenix Force and Jean Grey is such an important part of the X-Men lore!

I would have also loved to see Jessica Chastain as one of the classic and iconic X-Men villains like Emma Frost, Mrs. Sinister/Mr. Sinister or (Lady) Mastermind. But I have no excitement to find out that she is a green skrull queen. The only thing that gives me hope is that Chastain could also be Mrs. Sinister is the end credit scene of Apocalypse, that Chastain uses the term "clinical" and a vet metaphor to describe her character and the pale skin of her appearance...I'm praying to the Shi'Ar gods that she is not a Skrull...

Honestly, if they would liked to have used a green shapeshifting alien race infiltrating earth they could have easily chosen THE BROOD!

All of these options are more fitting then shoehorning the skrulls into this movie. I am also wondering if the big reveal is that Mystique is actually a skrull and not a mutant. Gosh,...at least let it be Beast. His character is so boring and bland that the big reveal that he was replaced by a skrull infiltrating the X-Men years ago and imprisoned somewhere would at least redeem him for future movies...

A quicksilver and nightcrawler combo action scene sounds pretty cool on paper.

I actually totally expected this to happen in Apocalypse. Combining the X2 White House sequence with the Quicksilver Days of Future Past scene could make a fantastic action sequence.

"miles better than Apocalypse"
I asked her about the returning mutants from DOFP and she said they're [blackout]Magneto's refugees[/blackout].

Time will tell. These characters deserve a lot better.

I expected a total trainwreck with Kinberg directing. So everything from mediocre to good will be ok with me. Judging from the rumors we will get an ok movie but again a very bad comicbook adaptation. that's fine...Marvel will change that soon anyways.

Right now I hope the movie will get some great mutant action. I just rewatched Age of Ultron. Although I do not think it is a particular great movie, the superhero action is amazing and I would love to see the X-Men in equally epic fight scenes as a team.

It's darker. It's more dramatic. It puts you on the edge of your seat as something like DPh should conceivably do.
Just making assumptions from what I've been told.
Those aren't things I expected out of Kinberg. With less action comparatively, it sounds like he got to focus on what matters.

I think I would like some action. The X-Men films haven’t really had any big scenes that sprawl across two pages so it would be nice to get one

Sounds awesome, bring on the trailer already!

sounds great. I hope Sophie Turner can pull it off and will carry the movie with her presence. I think she had some amazing scenes in Game of Thrones and she really shines when she has to go in dark and devastating places with her acting. I really felt her character's deep sadness in X-Men: Apocalypse and cannot wait to see this explored more. But the role of Dark Phoenix can shift so quickly into misogynistic territory (see X3) and I hope they make her more than a mentally unstable hysteric without a strong voice.

I really liked about Singer's pitch for Dark Phoenix that she had a political voice and wanted to change the world for mutants when she found out about Genosha's slavery before her power corrupted her...this is so much better than having her mentally unstable and schizophrenic. I think it is actually very interesting plot to explore what would happen to a godlike person trying to change the world and getting slowly corrupted by all that power.

But Singer is gone now and we will not get a very deep interpretation of the character Dark Phoenix...I think from what I read online so far I'm most worried that Kinberg seems to have confused Genosha with Asteriod M or Avalon. They will waste the potential of the Genosha storyline "X-Tinction Agenda" if they do not show the mutant apartheid regime on this island but only make it Magneto's safe haven for mutants. That's super sad to hear....
