Well, there will be news about her soon. I remember being highly excited to know she'd be introduced in the streets of Cairo in Apocalypse, and I remember them talking about her "arc". But they destroyed the character.
Actually XMA is an exemple of how Kinberg and the creative team don't understand the X-Men characters at all. They think they'll please the fans by throwing a Dazzler easter egg, or a comic accurate looking Jubilee and Psylocke, or giving Storm a mohawk and putting her in the streets of Cairo. Who cares if those characters have no substance?
So yeah, you can expect news about Storm having a wonderful story arc and comic accurate costume or something. But will you buy it?
NOPE! Which is why I won't be watching DP unless the reviews are positive..
And as much as I want Jean to get her spotlight, she deserved much, much, much more than a rushed Dark Phoenix storyline, because let's not full ourselves here: DP is not being adapted because the story naturally progressed to that point. It's being adapted as a desperate move after the failure of Apocalypse.
Teasing it for a character that we were just reintroduced to is a rush imo. It would be like getting into it in the 2nd episode of a tv series. We barely know this new Jean and have barely seen her use her powers.
and Wolverine and the X-Men only lasted 1 season lol. (though it was a fairly enjoyable season)

But I wouldn't treat Jean like I would say Spiderman where you can skip his origin by now. Jean hasnt had the same kind of exposure where I think the audience will automatically feel connected to her and her becoming The Phoenix. It's been 10 years between the audience really seeing Jean Grey in the OG trilogy and being reintroduced to a brand new version of the character.

Surprised it made this list
It's almost as if this board is an echo chamber of hate that doesn't reflect the overall opinion. Funny, that.

Some "fans" want Dark phoenix to fail
but most people are eager to see the movie

I bought that Empire issue to discover that the only Dark Phoenix content in it was the images already released and the thinnest of interviews. Le sigh.
I need a trailer already.
I laughed at the Most Anticipated Actress list for this vey reason.
Of course it's rushed. Jean's defining trait in the films is that she'll eventually become Phoenix (when she's not Logan's love interest). She should've been developed first. Show her as an individual, show how important she is as an X-Men member and develop and establish her relationships to other characters: Scott, Charles and her friends. Her relationships are highly important. It's for them that she sacrificed herself.
If this creative team genuinely cared about Jean as much as they care about Charles, Eric and Logan they would've develop her first. They don't understand Jean. What they understand is that Dark Phoenix is one of the highest acclaimed comicbook stories and they want to bank on that. And, as usual, they fail to understand the characters. At least the ones not named Charles, Eric and Logan.
who has praised Storm's role in X-Men apocalypse? who praised Rogue's role in Days of future past? or Havok's completed role in this trilogy? or Jubilee's role in the franchise?
