It's as if her skin is crumbling away when the Phoenix force is been unleashed.

Oh and i recently bought a copy of the Entertainment Weekly special.I feel like i should have at least one magazine (cover) from each X-Men movie.:yay:

Well, there will be news about her soon. I remember being highly excited to know she'd be introduced in the streets of Cairo in Apocalypse, and I remember them talking about her "arc". But they destroyed the character.

Actually XMA is an exemple of how Kinberg and the creative team don't understand the X-Men characters at all. They think they'll please the fans by throwing a Dazzler easter egg, or a comic accurate looking Jubilee and Psylocke, or giving Storm a mohawk and putting her in the streets of Cairo. Who cares if those characters have no substance?

So yeah, you can expect news about Storm having a wonderful story arc and comic accurate costume or something. But will you buy it?

Ive gotten to the point that I just think Kinberg is s***.

Ive seen 3 movies written by him already, more than enough to have that conclussion. Cant wait to see Marvel Studios take of my fave X-Men. Kinberg wont ever make justice to them, neither he cares.

NOPE! Which is why I won't be watching DP unless the reviews are positive..

That doesn't work for me anymore. I loved DoFP but I don't want to watch another movie like that. So I don't care about "glowing reviews" if it's another movie about Charles, Eric and Raven and the X-Men standing in the background.

And as much as I want Jean to get her spotlight, she deserved much, much, much more than a rushed Dark Phoenix storyline, because let's not full ourselves here: DP is not being adapted because the story naturally progressed to that point. It's being adapted as a desperate move after the failure of Apocalypse.

It's sad they're sacrificing Jean and that beautiful storyline for that. But I'm relieved it will all be over soon.

Since they had been talking about redoing it for a while and had teased it in apocalypse i can't see what you think they were going to do next if DP was a desperate move.

But then DOFP wasn't a natural progression to X3, thor raganrok didn't naturalY progress hulks involvement in the planet hulk sigmants.

And even though feige has said he is incredibly eager to get the aunt May knowing Peter is Spider-man stuff on screen many would say her finding out at the end of Spider-man homecoming wasn't a natural progression as there was even an article recently on CBM and the first comment i read a fan say was "but its too early for that".

Teasing it for a character that we were just reintroduced to is a rush imo. It would be like getting into it in the 2nd episode of a tv series. We barely know this new Jean and have barely seen her use her powers.

It is rather rushed, yes, to show Jean already going to Dark Phoenix mode, as is the romance with Scott.

We haven't seen the intervening nine years (1983-1992) so they are going to have to do a lot of 'shorthand' storytelling in this.

It's the inherent problem with these decade jumps, along with the need to create an 'event movie'. Time will tell if redoing the Phoenix story was a good idea.

Shame they couldn't produce some animation or motion comics on the Blu-ray discs to fill in the gaps a bit.

But more than anything it doesn't really matter what they do, as Disney are taking over the franchise and anything this film does is likely to be rendered obsolete and irrelevant.

But movies are not like TV shows.

Infact even the Wolverine and the X-Men show skipped all that stuff and just said jean phoenixed out and went missing from the first episode onwards untill she pops up briefly in episode 12 and then again in episode 20

Its assumed audience kinda get the idea by now.

and Wolverine and the X-Men only lasted 1 season lol. (though it was a fairly enjoyable season)

But I wouldn't treat Jean like I would say Spiderman where you can skip his origin by now. Jean hasnt had the same kind of exposure where I think the audience will automatically feel connected to her and her becoming The Phoenix. It's been 10 years between the audience really seeing Jean Grey in the OG trilogy and being reintroduced to a brand new version of the character.

To me, this is one of those storylines that you build up to. It's very big for everyone and to get the right emotional impact, its probably best served as a 3rd or 4th film type scenario. And thats 3 or 4 films with the character actually being there and getting decent storyline.

Side note:Wolverine and the X-Men was a cartoon that at first I avoided due to its title, but after I finally watched it I enjoyed it immensely. Spectacular Spider-Man, Avengers: Earths Mightest Heroes and Wolverine and the X-Men were great cartoons that never should have been scraped.

That clearly wasn't the plan though.

They just did Phoenix first in series 1 from the get go.

Id argue that jeans probably had a fair amount of exposure to audiences as she has been in at least 5 movies so its not like audiences will scratch their heads trying to work out who jean is.

The difference with say spider-man is Homecoming is that its a direct full on reboot, a totally new Peter/Spider-man while Jean is not a full on reboot, more a loose expansion which allows for change and alternations here and there.

Its like fiege is probably looking at Spider-man homecoming and saying we seen enough of the Peter and aunt may dynamic in the Raimi and webb series that he just wants to do the knows he is spider-man stuff already... but then it could be argued that we haven't seen it with THIS version of the character.

We've spent more time getting to know Mystique then we ever have Jean Grey. But apart from X1/X2, they've liked to rush the character. They say they've learned their lessons so we'll see.

I bought that Empire issue to discover that the only Dark Phoenix content in it was the images already released and the thinnest of interviews. Le sigh.

I need a trailer already.

It's almost as if this board is an echo chamber of hate that doesn't reflect the overall opinion. Funny, that.

I laughed at the Most Anticipated Actress list for this vey reason.

Some "fans" want Dark phoenix to fail
but most people are eager to see the movie

Sorry my english, I'm brazilian

Did you not see how well X-Men Apocalypse did compared to DOFP, LOGAN and Deadpool?

Audiences and fans love the X-Men films...when they are good.

Of course it's rushed. Jean's defining trait in the films is that she'll eventually become Phoenix (when she's not Logan's love interest). She should've been developed first. Show her as an individual, show how important she is as an X-Men member and develop and establish her relationships to other characters: Scott, Charles and her friends. Her relationships are highly important. It's for them that she sacrificed herself.

If this creative team genuinely cared about Jean as much as they care about Charles, Eric and Logan they would've develop her first. They don't understand Jean. What they understand is that Dark Phoenix is one of the highest acclaimed comicbook stories and they want to bank on that. And, as usual, they fail to understand the characters. At least the ones not named Charles, Eric and Logan.

I did the same thing and was a little bit disappointed. Well, the film is 11 months ahead so I guess that was to be expected.

Fandango polls... the same site that said people paid for DOFP to see Lawrence, and yet somehow 200 million of those people didn't pay to see her again in Apocalypse?:whatever:

seriously, each time I read your comments, I almost found you like the smartest person on the board. you GET it.

Kinberg doesnt care about most of the characters, he doesnt care about the mayority of the x-men, if the material he has written for them is the best he can really do. He's that mediocre. I doesnt stop surprising me how some fans act like they are pleased with this treatment. Did they ever read comics? or even watched all the animated shows that all did better than the actual movies? in terms of development and nailing the esence and personality of all the characters, even if each show has a different take with some changes here and there.

who exactly on here has praised young Beast development on the latest 3 movies? :whatever: who has praised Storm's role in X-Men apocalypse? who praised Rogue's role in Days of future past? or Havok's completed role in this trilogy? or Jubilee's role in the franchise? :whatever:

who from all of you is really pleased with this treatment? be honest with yourself first, and then tell us the truth.

Some of you need to just accept other people's opinions and move on.
